I´ve got a picture! Haha!
Be empathetic Longenecker. You're pitting your interests against an entire community's, and saying yours win.

That's ridiculous.

That's the problem. From a potential investors viewpoint it looks like Dan is putting his own interests before XC's. XC receives no benefit to Dan's involvement with utilitycoin, in fact it reduces Dan's focus on XC. (Which blocknet is also doing). He's gone from overseeing one project to overseeing 3 projects in the space of a month. Can you not see why XC investors are concerned?
Furthermore they get enough cash via IPO to hire few code masterminds to take care of dying coins

@longnecker: you sound like somebody who perfectly knows how to set up a coin or an equivalent of blocknet......why don't you go and create your own toy instead of trying to explain here what needs to be done?

How much Util do you hold?  Posting history reveals a lot, you shill.

Anyone with a mind that can reason will be sympathetic towards my concerns.

It doesn't matter if I hold util or not.....my point is that you should stop screaming what somebody else should do. You start crying without knowing the real reasons why Dan Metcalf decided to support util, you don't know how/what he is going to do, how many hours he will spend on that and what might be the advantage for XC or Blocknet.....no, you immediately start crying and supposing a lot.....

To commodify ethicality is to ethicise the market

Edit: for ethical reasons I DO need permission to publish any private conversation. I cannot prove my assertion above without first getting consent.

SynEbonics: another abusive post and you're out.

Longenecker: I will now request permission to prove what I've just stated.

No-one can stop you getting out, but that wouldn't make it less based on the facts.

Arlyn, you don't need permission to defend or prove anything.  But like I said, there is no rational defense for this decision.

I don't think you're in a position to tell what the most rational decisions are here. You'd need to be on the inside for that.

But maybe I can help.
- It would be awful for the community around the coin for it to be abandoned. We get that. Projects matter in their own right. It's clearly the right thing to do to step in and save a coin.
- The Blocknet has a lot of resources. We can help in ways that aren't normally possible.

Synechist, Dan is deleting legitimate questions from fellow XC community members:

Dan stated: "For utility I believe the decentralized VPN is its main goal over an anonymous coin, maybe I will just take the VPN tech and put that into XC"

To which I asked: "Why would someone invest in utility coin if you can implement their innovations into XC?"

I think that is a legitimate question which didn't warrant deletion. Dan's nazi-moderating of the XC thread isn't doing much to appease the concerns of the XC community.

...  DAN IS THE ONE MAKING THE VPN TECH FOR UTILITYCOIN.  WHY DOESN'T HE JUST ADD IT AS A FEATURE FOR XC INSTEAD?  THIS WAY THE BLOCKNET STILL BENEFITS.

Why would Blocknet not benefit from what is in Utilitycoin?  Last I saw is that Util was part of the Blocknet.

Seriously?  Now Dan is the manager / dev of Util coin?  This is becoming a bigger joke by the day.

I find it interesting that Dan denied Prom's claim that UtilityCoin was Dan's project.

It all makes so much sense now.

Dan was not the dev of UtilityCoin.

I know who the dev is and have chatted to him on Skype a few times.

He's gone through a rough patch lately and that's what caused him to go silent on the Util thread for over a week.

The team badly needed someone to step in and manage (not develop) the project.

This is what Dan is doing.

For further discussion, just go speak to Dan on the brand new XC thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--854023

Look at the price of XC.  Tell him to manage his own damn project before he starts managing other projects.

There is no defending this decision.  Now this just confirms all of Prom's skype bullshit.  Dan himself is using his own name to pump multiple projects.

If UtilityCoin is struggling internally, LET IT DIE.  Dan should be managing XC and BlockNET ONLY.

Your reason is because the Tech is valuable?  DAN IS THE ONE MAKING THE VPN TECH FOR UTILITYCOIN.  WHY DOESN'T HE JUST ADD IT AS A FEATURE FOR XC INSTEAD?  THIS WAY THE BLOCKNET STILL BENEFITS.

Fuck this.  I'm out.

Calm down Charlie Brown

Reasons:

- it's a Blocknet coin

- its tech is valuable to the Blocknet

- there's no benefit to anyone to allow it to just stall and die.

Can someone please direct me to the Blocknet windows wallet.

I can see it on Github but I am on a windows machine and don't trust myself to compile it correctly.

Why don't you just download the wallet Zip file straight from http://theblocknet.com/

Thanks Smiley

The new OP has links to the wallets too.

Synechist can you clarify whether staked Block tokens will be allowed to be kept or not?

I vaguely remember something about the staking wallet being meant only for storage.

To the best of my knowledge the BLOCK will be keepable, strictly speaking, but their value will be debatable as they'll no longer be supported by the Blocknet and they won't receive service fees.

I mean, there's probably nothing to stop people just keeping their BLOCK, but you wouldn't want to when it no longer has any development.
