2017 Decred Roadmap

Full overview available here: https://forum.decred.org/threads/2017-decred-roadmap.4937/
If you have any questions, join official slack here: https://slack.decred.org/

Convert Decred into a stakeholder-directed DAO - While other projects have attempted to create a DAO via a monolithic smart contract, Decred will build a DAO in several steps, ensuring each component works independently before putting it into production.
- Hard fork voting - Stakeholders will be able to vote on all hard fork changes to Decred, with only those changes obtaining greater than 75% support being activated.
- Public proposal system - After hard fork voting is in production, we will create an off-chain system where Decred users can submit proposals for future work to be performed by the development organization, Decred Holdings Group (“dev org” or “DHG”).
- Decentralized control of DHG funds - Currently, the control of DHG funds is centralized, and this will be resolved by creating a system whereby control of these funds is decentralized, e.g. based on stakeholder voting.

Lightning Network support - The lightning network is the most directly useful application of smart contracts to date since it allows for off-chain transactions that optionally settle on-chain. This infrastructure has clear benefits for both scaling and privacy.

Improved GUI wallets - We have made substantial progress with GUIs, Paymetheus (Windows) and decrediton (Windows, OS X, and Linux), and will continue to improve the user experience.

RFP process change - To date, the RFP process has involved giving quotes on deliverable sets, and this system is cumbersome to administrate and maintain. The RFP process will change to one where individuals and businesses will be contracted on a longer term basis to work for the project. As part of the RFP changes, we will be looking for contractors to do marketing, advertising, documentation and community management work.

Presence at events - With hard fork voting nearly ready for production, we have some legitimately interesting content to discuss at events. Our presence at events will ramp up starting in late Q1 2017.

Enhanced privacy - Starting in late Q2 or early Q3 2017, we will propose a new initiative to enhance user privacy.

Payment integration support - Instead of only focusing on Decred from a speculative position, we will support efforts to integrate Decred as a payment method for businesses starting in Q1 2017.

Decreed have excellent roadmap for this year. With the release of a new wallet version (I hope that this will happens today) will start a new era in the development and popularization of Decreed for many investors. Extensive innovation, production of which is planned within this year, will strengthen the status of the Decreed as one of the best on the crypto coins market.

This is only the beginning. Very promising roadmap and until now the devs could deliver the expectation from the community. I have such a feeling that this year will be a great year for Decred.

The v0.8.0 update has been delayed until 2/10/2017.  To make up for it, here is a sneak peak of something our developers are putting together for the community to monitor the live demonstration:

Please join our slack if you would like to participate in / watch the upcoming hard fork voting test.  It will be available to watch in other places as well, but this is a great spot to hang out with the other community members / ask questions about the process.

I have created a new default channel called hf_votingtest that any new users will be added to.  See you there.

"setticketfee" is the command you need. Default fee is 0.01

"walletinfo" shows you the current settings, including ticketfee

"getticketfee" shows only ticketfee

"ticketfeeinfo" shows useful info

When setting ticketfee it goes per kb.

When staking solo, transaction is about 296bytes and pool is about 538bytes. So if you example in solo, setticketfee 0.4 then the fee is 0.296*0.4=0,1184
And so when you buy with pool it goes setticketfee 0.4 then fee is: 0.538*0.4=0,2152.

Someone has made very nice calculation about fees and interests: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IE1gXeYoJHU_NDw-9YMfS-nihg0D4NBpK98ecRKe1Pk/edit#gid=0

I suggest you and also the others to join Decred slack.

Thanks. My mistake was that I was trying to set the ticket fee while making the purchase.
It needs to be done beforehand in a separate command, it worked now

Are there any details on what can we expect from hard forking?

That should give good picture about it:

https://blog.decred.org/2017/01/09/2017-Decred-Roadmap/

OK I see. I read this roadmap before. I tought that there were some ideas already about what to implement in the hard forkings, but as I see they will be decided by the community later (maybe except the Lightning network which is already a known goal).

I suggest you to join Decred slack. You can discuss about developement and also anything else there.

Until now I've been manually buying tickets at default fees. Unless the price was too low, I usually succeeded.

But lately, even with the latest reasonable price yesterday of 35 I still couldn't get any. I guess it's time to increase the fee a little.

There is a setticketfee in dcrctl which I could not get to work. Can someone help me?

Here is the command I normally use

dcrctl -u %USER% -P %PASSWORD% --wallet purchaseticket "default" %MAX_SPEND% 1 %ADDRESS%

What should I add to control the fee?
How much is the default fee btw?

Thanks

cli wallet up and running. I am sad this coin slipped by my radar for so long. Was distracted with XMR,ETH,ZEC,STEEM.  This coin is undervalued IMO. If the privacy features of this coin end up being better or just as good as XMR , it would be a dream come true. A truly ANON PoS Coin! I have been waiting for this for a long long time.

I do not plan to sell any DCR right now as I am convinced that this journey is not over yet.

Smart decision I think. With hard fork voting on the horizon, the main part of the journey is yet to come.

Thanks for the agreement. Any with the price jump recently, I feel even more comfortable holding my stack.
Hope to see DCR one day around 10$/DCR. Let's see what future will bring.
