You guys are right -- the new thread is best and is appropriate.

Graincoin went through a similar change from the original announcement post to a follow-up new announcement post way down the road after bee7 undertook new development.
It would just be cool for us to get moderation to the OP in this thread to remove any confusion and to eliminate dead links and things which at some point in the future will no longer be relevant.

Also, it would then become possible to "close" this thread and indicate things have since moved to https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/re-ann-icoin-democratic-coin-under-new-management-930382.

Kind Regards,
-Chicago

A new thread might be best, so new people don't feel they need to read the 130 pages this thread.

In the new thread, put a brief history of the coin, and a link to this thread, so if people would like to read it they can.

Please go to the new thread so everything can be in one place and we can break away from the iccaccuracies on the original post

See if you can get a Forum moderator to assist us with the community takeover.
We should be able to manage this thread in perpetuity.
Staff will likely be able to see whether iCoinTeam is entirely absent or logging in at all and from the notes in this thread give us the ability to edit the OP.

Kind Regards,
-Chicago

I personally do not like that idea. This thread became sour after the original team left. If someone reads the entire thread, as they should, they might think that the community has fallen out. However, this should be democratic. I'm open to opinions

My P2Pool is back up, you can also use me as a peer node to sync your wallet if needed.

It is not working. Please post it to the Re-ANN thread to claim the 100 ICN bounty

In a coin like iCoin the programming part is not the most important thing since most tools and updates are already available from LTC and alike coins.

In my opinion, the most important part is having a long term strategy for the coin and define what will the coin be used for.

If the idea is just to "relaunch" so that it can be traded again and eventually have some pump&dump scheme than I guess it won't succeed much since there are already many hundreds of coins for that.

However, I do think that iCoin name is very marketable and as such it might gain some traction for "iLovers".

PS: For me coins like Guldencoin and Sterlingcoin are great examples of open coins with a straight dev team and good usage initiatives for the respective coins.

Interested developers -- quote this reply and say "I'm in"

Then, join the existing #iCoin or #iCoin-dev channels on Freenode.
We will carry out ongoing discussions of a rebase against Litecoin and await a quorum of 6 developers to be established.

Kind Regards,
-Chicago

I'm also willing to be a part of new team. Unfortunately I'm not a programmer, but Network & Security specialist.
I was about from the beginning last January, so I would like to be in.

If you fork -- those transactions would be reversed and if you ignore the contributions of miner you essentially do not reward him for preserving the integrity of the blockchain in your absence.

What transactions?
If it is actually resurrected, wouldn't it be fair to fork it from an earlier block? Because now there's probably been only one miner who's gotten all the blocks for months.

No.

If it wasn't for one miner, no transactions would have been possible.

The potential possible transactions would be reversed if you fork back 6 months. I don't know if there were (m)any transactions included in blocks going back 6 months because I haven't looked.

I have mined a few blocks today though.
