During the last months we build a scalable and decentralised social media network as we promised earlier this year. Now it’s time to release it bit by bit to ensure that everyone will have SocialX on his radar over the next months. With over 662 commits we will soon be able to present you the latest stage of the app. The private circle will be the first to get a glance at the App followed by everyone who signed up for the beta.
But of course in order to publish the beta we needed to design a stable infrastructure. Figure 1 displays the infrastructure we have chosen for running SocialX.
As you can see we are using database peers as one important part of our infrastructure. This blogpost aims to explain how you can setup a database peer to support the decentralised approach of SocialX.

Here’s our monthly recap with an update about SocialX going Open-Source and the introduction of two new additions to our team
We completed the entire outline for a decentralized future of socialX, the work which was executed within this months was tremendous. For this reason we decided to publish the current codebase as our open source initiative within SocialX and provide our community the transparency they deserve. The reason why we did not publish our code earlier is simple. We did not want to provide too much information about how to build a fully decentralised social network, to our competitors who might be listening closely. To say that a social network is decentralised is easy but to actually executing a fully decentralised social network is a major milestone achieved by our team.

Closed Beta release date announcement
Closed Beta release date: 25 May 2018
We know you’ve been waiting for this moment to come. We’ve been testing your patience, but we hope you can understand that our main aim has been to work as fast as possible without compromising quality. All beta subscribers will receive information about the beta test and how to report bugs, as well as a link to install the app.
Internal testing started in mid-April, but we decided to add and improve some more features before releasing the first closed beta version. For example, we’re happy to say that decentralisation of files is now implemented.
There’s still a lot of work left for the development team. As you know, the roadmap is the best reference for staying up-to-date with the team’s progress. We will update the roadmap shortly before the release again.
We are looking forward to your support in the next months decentralising the social media landscape with SocialX. Please keep in mind that this is our first Beta build. More will follow as development is continuing non-stop.

I like the project.
The mainstream media platform is more and more huger and centralized,just like Facebook,Twitter.
Our personal data could be used by the social giants without our authorities.
In a word,the data is not our,it is owned by the social media.

The past weeks have been a rollercoaster ride for the entire SocialX Team, with primarily positive experiences. The successful ICO was a big moment for us. We are very optimistic about SocialX changing the future of how the human species interacts socially. Our ultimate goal is to change the social media landscape by creating a decentralized network with a unique reward mechanism. To reach our goal, we need 100% commitment from all our team members.
