RealSolid has announced MaxCoin is going to be added to mcxNOW! [ref link] (just next to MinCoin for ultimate lol Grin)
So get ready to trade there.

Nice fake to get people to click on your referral link for mcxBUX.

If you want fair go to damn North Korea or some other commie place and when you get there you will find out it is even worse. Gpu's not fair? Get a job and buy one and stopp f'ing whining.
Better yet call Obama and maybe he will start another welfare program ffs.

I'm dying.
So, I could mine a lot with a 32 core server?

Thinking to rent for a day.

Are you saying that GPUs are cheap? Most GPU farms are using high end GPUs that costs hundreds, I call that unfair too, only the guys with high end gear mine and about the others?
What's more expensive a decent GPU or a decent CPU?

Have you even looked at the current prices on a decent i7 or entry level Xeon?

GPUs are cheap by comparison.

I have no idea how to mine and only got a poxy laptop so looks like I am out of the game but does anyone know if it will go to coins-e straight away as soon as miners start hashing it out? I am a bit confused at all the process how it is unfolding at the moment. I got some btc there ready but would have loved to mine some coin as a friend said I could said my laptop. Smiley

Yes for people using CPU, do you think everyone has a bunch of GPUs at home? Once GPU's get on train, CPU miners won't get a chance.

GPU's would be on that train pretty fast either way, because guess what? GPU's are better for this specific job than CPU's.

Nope, almost 40.  Delays are one thing, incompetence and poor project planning is something entirely different.

Dude, you're in the altcoin section. It could might as well be called the incompetence and poor project panning section.

I'm not against GPU mining, I just think CPU miners should have a chance at the beginning, now that's gone
I am exactly the opposite, I think CPU mining is unfair, as people use bot nets, rent expensive server power Amazon etc. and other tricks which make things unfair. With GPU mining most people interested in crypto mining are already set up for this. That's why for each CPU coin that comes out, you get dozens of GPU coins, GPU mining is more popular.

Why are my posts not showing up?

I found a thread about setting up minerd for MaxCoin on Digital Ocean (and I have an account there for mining QRK - not that it helps, because Botnets. But I do have six machines with a total of 64CPUs available, plus the 8-core droplet on DO).

But I am finding conflicting information on all manner of things.

No Wallets, for instance.

Some heated and outraged "discussion" about CPU v GPU (be nice if they set this up to ONLY be mineable via the wallet, and solo from the beginning (but then people would probably complain that this gave people like me an advantage - or others who have large numbers of CPUs available.... Don't know much about Botnets, but I am busy learning - seems to be a lot of conflicting information there).

P.S. Any link to an OSX Wallet would be nice.

MaxCoin Launch Official Statement

We're postponing the launch of MaxCoin by 24 hours after today's events. The new launch time will be 7.30PM GMT Thursday, 24 hours after original launch.

To keep you guys in the loop, here's our thought process for this decision.

After we prepped our ANN for BitcoinTalk's 7.30PM GMT launch the site crashed under heavy load for around 10 minutes. The MaxCoin site crashed simultaneously for a similar time. This happened a few more times before it came to our attention that a stable launch from BitcoinTalk would not be possible.

While preparing alternative options for launch (the launch channels will now be via Reddit, Twitter and MaxCoin.co.uk) one of our prepared pool operators withdrew their support claiming they were uncertain they would be able to support the load of miners.

We are uncomfortable launching without two stable pools, not to mention doing so in the midst of confusion between a last minute launch location switch and large traffic spikes. With these three issues combined, we have made the decision to delay the launch until this infrastructure is better established and the news is able to spread about the new sites to participate in the launch from.

Our apologies to everyone that this inconveniences, we're as disappointed as you, but feel this is the correct way to proceed under the circumstances. It is our hope that by postponing and making sure this is done properly we will achieve a more stable debut than by gritting our teeth and crossing our fingers through an already chaotic launch.

To avoid similar issues, we will be distributing the software from tomorrow morning (GMT) under password protected archives so it is possible to download these throughout the day, both via official site download and torrents, assuring everybody has access to the files in time for the launch. All guides will be available in advance and mining will begin upon password announcement.

The screenshots and claims of advance mining are of course fake, one reason we must move to more stable announce channels is to ensure everybody is able to have a fair chance to mine from the commence of the network.

Thanks for your patience, and sorry once again.

So, heh, the source is out there and the algorithm is known. GPU miners can hit this right from the beginning.

Hopefully someone will release their code before tomorrow so as to not give advantage to those developing in secret. I imagine we could have a cudaminer by tomorrow, just need something for OpenCL/AMD as well.

What the devs should do, is mine the first block or two on an offline machine, then add the checkpoint for the block into the source code for the wallet, release the wallet to the public to let everyone get organized with their pools etc. Then at some predetermined time release the block to the Internet which will start the miners on the correct chain all at once.
