Do you guys have any social media accounts?

Also, what do you do to advertise and market the project?

I invite you to showcase it on the BitcoinRoot project for the general crypto audience to notice your project.

Does the project still works? And can we still get a .bit domain name?
Of course the software works, another thing is that to access a .bit you need to install NCDNS. (before it was even more complex)

See: https://www.namecoin.org/docs/ncdns/

What is happening lately with them? Marketing isn't necessary, companies go into development phases all the time. But what is the best place to find the newest info?

Is there a new update about this coin legend? I see a lack of market interest since two years ago which caused the price and volume of Namcoin to decline. Altcoin competition may be one of the factors also why this coin cannot rise. So I will wait for a new roadmap, especially when Bitcoin will halving soon.

Yes, the project is still very much alive and you can register names through Namecoin Core or Electrum-NMC if you want.

please forgive the noob question, but in this and cryptocoin projects in general:
why are the wallet and explorer separate things? is it too difficult to incorporate an explorer into the client?
In the case of NMC, I would really like to do a search and find all the results, instead of simply checking to see if a namespace is available.
thnx

A block explorer is something quite different at least in terms of UI than a wallet, that's presumably the reason.  They also use some indices (e.g. of all data by address), which are not needed for ordinary operation and would thus increase the storage and computing cost of a full node if included by default.  Also most block explorers run on a website, so that people can use them without a full node, which can be useful.

Note that Namecoin Core does allow you to retrieve essentially all the data a block explorer has through its RPC interface, as well as get a list of all registered names (using name_scan).  There is just not a UI for it.

Love the new wallet. Seed phrases are a great implementation!
ah.... Is there no longer an active online explorer?

We've just tagged Namecoin Core 0.19.0 in the Github repository (https://github.com/namecoin/namecoin-co ... g/nc0.19.0). This is a new major release of Namecoin Core, mostly incorporating the upstream changes that Bitcoin Core 0.19.0 brought. It also includes a refactor of the mempool handling logic for names, which will in the future allow sending multiple pending name_updates for a single name. (While not typically useful for Namecoin, there was no good reason to disallow this; it can be useful in emergencies or when a messed-up name_update has been issued accidentally to fix the situation more quickly.)

That are now activated.

Miners, exchanges, registrars, explorers, ElectrumX servers, and all other service providers should upgrade as soon as possible.

namecoin is a great idea and trial, but seems not get seriouly applied.

now,ENS of ethereum seems more popular with some good names for auction.

Except that ENS is a lot more centralised than Namecoin.
