I think it would be better to have the alias fees be destructive, rather than a lottery.

No way, there's no PoS so destroyed coins are gone and never replaced.

Eventually that could become a problem for all non-PoS coins; every time a hard drive crashes the money supply is permanently reduced.

This may be better for scarcity longterm yes, also Auto Monkey's ideas for in wallet betting are def good ones. If you don't gamble just don't use the feature easy to solve Smiley

Being a non-gambler I would like to *not* see this in the wallet - so if this happens can we have the option to hide or turn it off so save annoyance. Other users may want this too if they've had a problem with online gambling and don't want temptation!!

i would propose it being a separate application all together, for legal reasons as well as other reasons. having it tie INTO the wallet however would be interesting.. if sites could just use say an api key and secret in order for you to start playing.. or you could sign up/register/login using your neos wallet address, so your payouts would go to that wallet... then that would be something
but to have it *IN* the wallet itself.. i don't see the reason.

OK now I get that. Abuse of the blockchain and bloat of the wallet. I suppose the hash function could still be used to ensure people are connecting to a legitimate application. A host could run a special package with a wallet controlled by that package, and once the package and everything connecting to it are trusted the rest of the communication could be done with regular connections and coins only passed back to the players once, when they are done playing.

Plus the games don't have to be super graphic and complicated, just simple ones like dice/blackjack alone would be nice to have. Obviously yAK must know about the legal side a bit so let's just avoid stepping into a bad spot and do it the best way.

as far as features for the wallet goes, what is it that you guys do right now with your bank accounts that maybe isn't in the wallet (or even in crypto really) yet?
because technically, thats what a crypto wallet is in some ways, a bank account

What about these 2 ideas, set aside a savings account section of the wallet with a timer maybe? Forcing you to save (since no one hardly does in crypto). For example put 1k Neos into savings for X amount of days, will not be released till X day timer is up? OR option 2 is having some messaging or chat function in the wallet maybe? I know it's been done before but it is convenient.

if you were to say maybe that each *POT* was put into the blockchain.. while still a little 'bloaty' that might be something a little more interesting

putting betting into a wallet opens up quite a bit of legal issues for developers of it.
also to address your blockchain betting, while something like that is technically 'possible' its also very costly as to the blockchain itself, if enough people were doing it it would bloat the blockchain and cause a lot of issues (see the satoshi dice issues with bitcoin). while its a novel concept (not saying that the blockchain doesn't have its uses in something like this), you need to be careful to not use the blockchain for things that might not need to be, keep in mind the blockchain is forever, so only things that need to be logged forever really need to be in there

Great. That's why I love this coin and I'll do what I can to help.We are awesome guys!I'll think over the idea with the casino.Let's everyone share ideas and discuss this.

My idea for gaming would have people playing right from the wallet. The play itself of casino games is simple to code and most of the overhead is graphics and effects which are not necessary. The cards, bets, hand results would be encrypted like any other transaction, and there would be no problem with bad software because it's your own software, and the blockchain is just providing the random cards and the coin exchanges between players/house. No hosting or legal problems because if it's legal for you to play, play, and if not, don't. The IRC could be used too and people have been playing cards on IRC for a long time.

For games like blackjack where the player and dealer are not equals a wallet (or maybe a miner) would stake the game and set the rules, and invite people to the address to play. The transactions and randomness would work the same way. Of course this might be much more difficult than described, I could only write it in Pascal and Fortran.

may i suggest something tho, aliases being 3neos per alias, this needs to change, otherwise people will register multiple hundreds of aliases. 1 neos at current prices = 10c, so 30c per alias is nothing. unless your planning on the price to rise dramatically. perhaps you are Wink

Syntaks - great update from you, thanks. Exciting to see what's coming. Still hoping Mountain Lion is included in there somewhere ;-)

darkslash makes a good point about the fee for an alias. Maybe it should be higher at the start but if Neos becomes high $ value (which it will!) and people get less of them when buying they would not want to pay $10 or more for an alias. Would the alias fee be adjusted in this case to be in line with a fair $ cost?

This will be revised =)

Alias system - in v2 you can register aliases for 3 NEOS per alias.  The reason for the cost?  If it was free, one determined person could register countless aliases and leave everyone else with their hands in the air.  These alias funds will be held in a public account and every month a lottery system will choose 3 winners of which the alias funds will be distributed to.

This.. is amazing.. serious you are the most creative dev

And generous. As long as an alias scammer doesn't win the 'lottery' !

Are number of aliases per wallet going to be restricted? And disposable?

$10 I feel is slightly too much, perhaps $5 or $3

I wasn't saying $10 - I said people would not pay $10 if 3 neos ever equalled that (equivalent to BTCD price).

I think an alias fee should be linked to $1 i.e. 10 NEOS as at today. and less Neos as it's value goes up. Just a thought.

Good god, this coin/devs are fucking amazing there's no other way to properly put it! The only reason Neos is so low right now is because everyone wants it cheap...NEWS FLASH THIS COIN IS WAAAY UNDERVALUED.
