People learned the lesson and preoders are died long time ago.
Trust me, no one who have a bit brain will go for overpriced, non existent gear which maybe will be delivered at date given by factory and will give money towards this whole scam call preorders.

Unfortunately not true. There a $1 million+ pre-order going on right now: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/closed-spondoolies-tech-sp30-pre-order-specs-069gh-046wgh-575499

More then 5 million USA homes use electric heat  they all can use s-1's next fall.

Since the s-1   is the exact same power cost as the electric heat they use per watt.  why not space heat with it   and get some money back.

No big farm can compete with that.

Well said. People do not appreciate the amount of free electricity that is available. No matter how little the industrial miners pay for electricity they will have trouble competing.

You know what would be a killer product? A passively cooled mining box with a thermostat and built-in wifi. Use radiator fins or maybe a sealed oil like one of these. Zero maintenance. Drop in replacement for electric heat. Even if the mining loses money it still saves money on heating costs.

This is a stellar idea!

New price for AntMiner S1: 0.818 0.63 btc each one, shipping cost included.

whoever has bought S1 recently will get coupons, which are expected to reach user accounts on Apr 25th and Apr 26th.

Happy Mining  Wink
Has anyone received a coupon from BITMAIN for recent S1 buys?  Got my latest S1 just a few days ago, but no coupons yet Sad
The price drops + coupons might sway me for another S1 or 2 (with thoughts of under-clocking + under-volting to compensate for its thirst for KWhs)

Cheers
Got my coupon

Cheers

How much was your coupon for?  I ordered 3 units on three different dates over the past month and got nothing  Sad

I'm a math guy, so lets look at some numbers.

At the current difficult and BTC price, a S1 earns $186 dollars per month and uses $35 dollars in electricity at 12 cents per kilowatt hour. Barring a BTC price collapse, which would slow down difficulty growth, your assertion that a S1 will not be profitable in 2 months is absurd. The S1 will be unprofitable towards the end of 2013 (Q4) unless BTC price increases.

You think that an S1 will make $186 for May month?

I bet will not even make $130 for May. Deduct the $35 for electricity.

I am sorry but S1 is dead already.

Holy shit, I better turn off all my S1s because they are only making 4 times the cost of electricity and you also have a crystal ball into future difficulty increases and bitcoin price.

Thanks for the very insightful post.  Roll Eyes

Also, since difficulty is doubling on average every 6 weeks, those shiny new 1TH miners that use 1W/GH will also be obsolete around 6 weeks after the S1.

You have mentioned the elephant in the room bro.

antminer s-1's can clock to 1.5 watts. hash  antminer s-2's can clock to .9 watts a hash and spoondoodles can clock to .7 watts

these power improvements don't come close to keeping up with   the current difficulty numbers ..

what is needed is a large fiat btc jump.  remember the   sept  3 to nov 28 fiat jump  about 100 to 1100 usd a coin.

Since the only way the game will continue is a good solid fiat jump.  I may as well speculate  with s-1s.

remember   a cube was 38gh at 400 watts   that is more then 10 watts a hash .  the s-1 was a 5x improvement in power.

the s-2 the sp10 the dragons etc are at best 2x an underclocked s-1 if that.  so none of them will save the day,

but   an 11x btc fiat jump to  5000 will wake us all up.

even a 3x jump to 1350 usd makes the game look good again.

with the case being I need  a 3x fiat jump to mine I will buy s-1's  rather then any expensive gear .

So buy some now I bought them yesterday at .63

are you mining for a living or something ?? do u believe in time that bitcoin will increase in value ?? if your mining for a living then i can see your point why you want bitcoin to rise in value right away. i personally hoard all the coins i mine. and since i have to pay income tax on mined coins then i am not as much concerned about the price of bitcoin today. if you do not think that bitcoin will rise in value in the future then maybe you shouldn't be mining ?? the mining hardware is an asset that gives one the capability to mine crypto-currencies and therefore mining hardware has a value itself as well. it really doesn't make sense to me to turn assets into usd fiat currency right now since usd fiat currency is going to buy less in the future.

I believe and hope BTC will go back over 1000 usd. before nov 1st this year.

I ordered 3 x s1 just yesterday as some one asked me to do it for him. I will update thread what kind of kit i got, if its old, overclocked or maybe new kit which just left factory.

I wonder if bitmain really become so big he dont give a monkey about customers any more.Or they still have some respect to people who helped them to grow.
Time will show.

Anyone have backround on bitmaintech? Who they are, names or stuff?
Where they come from? Really we dont know anything about them.

I have plenty of recently purchased units from them and they all look new to me. No dust, no overclock but not sure if they are brand new since I doubt they manufacture them anymore. Anyways never had a single problem with any of them and probably the most reliable asic ever built. Bitmain has always shipped fast and kept the price profitable. Also, they still give coupons and just got a .15 one so I have absolutely no complaints.

Hello,

when u bought your devices , i bough 4pcs on 04-08-2014 unfortunately devices still in customs for some reasons.
but i'm still not got any coupons

I have recently (within the past month) bought 2 S1's...

Within a few weeks BOTH failed (1 due to a bad controller board, 1 had 2 bad "banks" of 8 asic chips (16 total).

It's been a week with the RMA department and they had me take pieces from one to make 1 working one, and finally got the go-ahead to ship the other one back (which arrives to them on Monday).

I likely wont see a replacement for at least another week.  Needless to say I am currently loosing my ass.  Bye Bye ROI.

I have expressed this concern about my ROI due to THEIR faulty product to Bitmain Customer Service and every time they ignore me.  I asked questions within the RMA emails and they responded to everything BUT my requests for either a coupon or a couple miners pointed at my pool while the RMA process is happening.  It's like they read it and just laugh.  I didn't ask for anything outrageous, I simply asked to be compensated for a failure in their product.

I thought they were a stand up company, but now I am having my doubts.  Maybe the prices ARE to good to be true, especially now that it has dropped even more.  I spent $950-$1,000 ish in product around the beginning of the month, and only have about 1.5 weeks of actual mining since I got my miners... As of right now I cannot recommend them.

Something must be going on internally as I used to hear good things about them (which is why I chose to do business with them). Unless things change FAST, they likely could get to the point where they can't honor ANY of their promises.

**EDIT**

The only reason why I am still giving Bitmain a shred of hope of redeeming themselves is because of Juan @112bit.com.  1 of my units I ordered from him, 1 I ordered directly from Bitmain.  Juan IS what customer service should be.  He always gets back to me quickly, is understanding and you can tell he actually cares about his customers.  He also has been helping me with BOTH units even though he only sold me one of them.

Thank you Juan!

People will loose interest in BTC, there will be other way to make money.
Only huge mining farm will be profitable.
Diff will go down because lost of interest, btc price will go down because lost of interest and than maybe obsolete miners will become usefull again.

well my s-1's will be useful in october - march

as supplemental space heating.    another reason to have them.

Since the industry needs mining to really work.  I actually feel the super-farms may be worse off then the little guy.

I know of hundreds of eletrical heated homes less then 10 miles from my house.

Everyone one of them can use an s-1 or more when the heating season comes round.

I agree bigger farms have more overhead like rent and maintenance.

Huge mining farms will be destroyed by the end of the year too. Manufacturers will be mining less and most new equipment will be made in pre order batches.

People learned the lesson and preoders are died long time ago.
Trust me, no one who have a bit brain will go for overpriced, non existent gear which maybe will be delivered at date given by factory and will give money towards this whole scam call preorders.

Because of the rising difficulty less manufacturers will mine. Without them building machines to mine first there is no product. They will not risk capital investment to build machines that dont roi. But it's still possible to sell to newbie consumers.
