the guy is a friend of mine. i introduced him in to mining. he has been mining with GPU for months. i told him it's time to go ASIC but he barely has 1 BTC and did not want to spend. i told him i will buy for you and you can pay me back when it's mining. i paid $590 + $35 ship mid march. when i had the machine in hand to give to him they were selling for $500. after seeing the price difference he was not happy but still wanted it. when he noticed the condition he backed out. and to be honest, i don't blame him. regardless of the price the fucking blades should be welded to the base all the way.

Have you seen the resale market for used Bitcoin mining hardware?
yes, have you? the price on these things have been falling every other day. what i paid is not what it's currently worth. if i advertised this on the forum for what i paid people would laugh at me and tell me to GTFO.

It sounds like the person you bought the miner for screwed you and is looking for a way out of paying for the miner. What did you get out of this deal for being the middle man?

yes, it was working. i did not buy the machine for myself, i bought it for somebody else. when he saw the condition he did not want it. if i put it on ebay they would file a claim. you may be satisfied with fucked up shit but i am not and i don't think the majority of buyers will be happy with it.

Have you seen the resale market for used Bitcoin mining hardware? In many cases, used hardware sells for more than the original purchase price.

When I'm buying a money printing machine, I could not care less if it has been used as long as the unit performs according to specification.

I'm confused. Did the S1 mine at the advertised speed or not? If the S1 was used but did perform as advertised, I think it's pretty crazy to return it, pay return shipping, and lose out on mining revenue while waiting for a replacement.
read the post and look at the pictures. the issue was damage and poor workmanship. the fins were damaged and both blades were not welded all the way and are separating from the base.

My S1 didnt have any sort of price on the Customs Declaration and just had "computer game gateway" on it - although I wasnt too worried about getting slugged import duty as we have a $1000 limit before that kicks in here in Australia - kinda makes up for being so damn far away from everything lol - not sure why it doesn't have a price on it, I was expecting it to.
i purchase from china and other countries on ebay. i've never paid any kind of import tax. it's just a BS excuse to refund me less.

You still haven't answered the question of whether or not it mines at 180-200 GH. Most Bitcoin Miners are not pretty, so it's all about function.

If you have a working miner that performs according to spec, but choose not to use it because of some bent heatsink fans, you're in the wrong business. If you expect everything to be plug and play, you're in the wrong business.

It's very common to receive mining hardware from China that require some TLC, but most serious miners realize that it's in their best interest to get the hardware working if they can and avoid a costly RMA process.

Looking at the issue from a business perspective, it's absolutely asinine to not use a working miner because of some aesthetic issues.

They do not pay VAT on foreign sales.
i believe this guy. it's like paying tax when you buy at a retail store but when you buy online there is no tax if the vendor is not physically located in your state.

Lots of people here are complaining about paying VAT for S1, what makes you doubt that Bitmain has VAT?
I sent a RSA token (banking token) to a company in China valued at USD100, they have to pay RMB150 to get it from DHL.
They do not pay VAT on foreign sales.
For units they recive for repair they do not pay VAT to recive it aslong as they can provide any form of documentation that it is service and ship it out of the country again in x days (not sure on the timeframe of return).
If not within timeframe they pay VAT, then as they ship it out of the country with same value/adress as shipped it to them they get the VAT back.

to be honest, it's not the quality that has me angry. shit happens, life goes on. what has me pissed off is the customer service. they really don't care about you. they act like your concerns are just an inconvenience to them. they tell you they will do something for you then they don't follow through with what they promised. they are trying to pressure me in to a replacement by telling me im going to pay up the ass for a refund when the only conditions discussed by Yanhua Qin was i pay return shipping.

i consider buying an antminer with the blades separating from the base cause they weren't welded all the way like buying a car and having the steering wheel hanging off the steering column. it's not acceptable.

after talking with their customer service i don't believe anything they say.

Then the customer prospective is different. Some feels like paying for a USD 400 car, others just a heat generator.

I agreed, China quality cannot match those quality expectations Undecided

I consider buying S1 like buying a generator. I don't care if it's scratched. As long as it does the job and is quiet, good enough for me.

just wait, when the time is right and they made enough they will fuck us in the ass even worse than BFL.

Maybe yes maybe no.
My point is to not make BFL look better because bitmain fucked things up recently.

New price for AntMiner S1: 0.818 btc each one, shipping cost included.

This is 3rd drop in price of s1 and instead of sales, isuess piling up.
Im ready to buy at .45btc price.

wake me up end of week once u will realise this price is acceptable.

bitmain i really like your way of business (miners delivered within 5 days of order), but you become another ass hole company who screwing people over just because of success.

Seem like bitmain is like "PSY-gangam style" one song success with no talent what so ever. one unit which was hit and nothing else, s2 complete joke(price, issues with sd card, issues with QC and with delivering on time). bitmain even become preorder company which is really weird after s1 success.

sending used equipment is so fucked up. don't get me wrong, i get it. but it's still not right. BFL was doing it. avalon was doing it. now bitmain is doing it. they will all do it to us. it's such a bend over the customer racket. nowhere else would that be acceptable but they get away with it cause everybody wants to be a part of the gold rush. and to add insult to injury they only offer a 3 month warranty after they been mining with it for months.
