I got Satoshi's avatar!
out of curiosity - was power cycling necessary?

i read that some miners were removing the card prior to shutting down as a preventative measure but not tried myself as i cant quite squeeze my hooves in between the control board & the nearest blade...

... and not wanting to pull blade/s out with power on.
im kindof assuming ppl doing that already had blade/s removed due to PSU concerns??
I have done it a few different ways and they all seem to work:
  • The first time I got the blue screen of death, I put in a new sd card with a fresh image and that worked fine. I needed to power down and remove a board to get the card swapped out.
  • After that I was ejecting the sd card before powering down, to avoid the bsod. I have long, skinny fingers, so I can get one in there to eject the card with the machine still running and all boards in. I'd just push it back in and power on an it worked
  • Since then I've had a power cut and when it came back on it had a blue screen again. I just powered off, ejected the card, pushed it back in and powered back on again and it booted fine

Sine the last time it happened, I'd powered it down and ejected and re-inserted the card; I guess it might work for you if you power down, remove a board and eject the card, re-insert it and put the board back in and power up again... it's worth a try as it'll be quicker than re-imaging a card.

Interestingly, if you eject the sd card while the miner is on, it'll stop hashing, it seems like it's running something from the sd card

I just hope Bitmain will investigate this matter because having the miner not restart automatically after a power cut or similar, could be quite a hassle for those with multiple machines or have them hosted off-site...

I got Satoshi's avatar!
9 hrs after initial shutdown - miner begins beeping... 10 other rigs are not affected

powered down, powered up. IP is ok but 0GH & 61°C

tried connecting to gui - nope

powered down, removed sd card, powered up - blue screen

powered down, reinserted sd, powered up - mining...

wtballs?

I had the same thing happen the other day, it seems one only needs to eject and reinsert the sd card and it'll boot. I've not needed to re-image a card since (I'm wondering if re-imaging was even necessary in the first place)...

I had a plug trip last night and was faced with the S2 "blue screen of death" after restarting. I just ejected the SD card and pushed it back in and it booted up no problem after that, no need for re-imaging  Huh

Juan doesn't sell U2's and it seems that it does not matter who's website you visit, there is virtually NO info about shipping and handling from the home page. I don't want to go through putting something in a cart and checking out, just to see what shipping will or won't be added! Just be up front about it! How hard is it to add a paragraph somewhere about shipping?

I have Bitmain U2's, S1's, and S2's in stock, and I have a flat rate $7.97 shipping charge per order. And right now you can save 5% off my entire inventory with coupon code "GrandOpening". I accept Paypal, Credit Cards and BTC for payments. All products in stock, same day US based shipping up until 2pm est.

We don't have U2s not sure if we will have in the future anyway we can only sell it in the 500 box. If you need 500 let me know to see if I can found a box for you.

Minersource or minerstore wtf

MinerStore is the company I was talking about sorry.

MinerSource is a well know web store of mining equipment and distributors of different companies as Black Arrow and others.

And I can say doing business with Juan is just as good if not better than Bitmain directly.

Thanks and sorry for the confusion I made

Anyone seen the bitmaintechs dot com website popping up?

99% sure its a fraud as all text is copied from the bitmaintech site but with the introduction of a Scrypt miner + some other products.

Yes very fake.   They even made a wiki entry to spam the fake site before they got caught.

So sending 5 btc to bitmaintech  for an s-2  (that is close to correct if you have a coupon)  will mean you need give more info

(ie a form to report the btc spending is needed for any btc spending over 600usd along with an ability to show the value of that btc spent when you spent it and the value of the btc when you aqcuired it)

to the IRS for your 2014 tax return. Since the rulings came out I stopped any btc transaction over 600usd.

Not sure if that is entirely accurate.  As Bitmaintech is based in China, why would the U.S. IRS want to know what you have paid them?  They (Bitmaintech) have no tax liability to the IRS.  This applies to U.S. companies.

No it is accurate here is why.  5 btc = 2200    today.    since btc is like a stock to the irs/usa gov.   they want to know what the btc cost you to get.

ie did you buy 100 coins the day silk road was caught.  if you did buy at 90usd back in sept 2013   paid 0 attention to the entire  world of btc since today.

each coin you use   cost you 90 and was worth 440  profit of 350 a coin  5 coins = 5 x 350 or 1750 usd

so the gov don't give a shit   about chump change under 600 usd .

but my example above they care.    So buying with a cc to any company avoids the need to show the history of the btc when the deal is over 600usd.

In my case I don't have older coins and if I want to get an s-2 I would buy from coinbase.  At todays price 2200 is about 5 coins. (I have coupons for 400)

So I order 10 coins today  pay 4400 for the 10.  I wait 4 days for the money  and I buy 2 s-2s'   Coins stay dead flat price no loss or gain..

I still  need to file an informational form with the IRS for my 2014 taxes.  It show price in as 4400 price out as 4400 and my gain or loss for the coin purchase then transfer to bitmiantech was 0.

My purchase cost is 4400 .

So buying with a cc or paypal for any big item is better if you are USA based even if the seller is someone like bitmaintech these big ticket items means more tax reporting.

If they used a 3000 usd number  it would be easier to deal with.  The 600 dollar number sucks. I do believe it lowered the price of btc by 100 to 200 usd a coin.

This is exactly why i messaged you about my post. Since it appears that your interested in obtaining S1's . If you would like some S1's and is seriously interested, I can list them on Ebay for you and you pay with USD. Let me know. Trying to get rid of them because of heat. So just looking for potential buyers

I did a 2860 usd hosted dragon miner deal only because it was with paypal.

Using a cc with minerstore means you only need say you spent 2??? usd  (not sure what was the exact price) for the miner.

No extra forms.

For now I am still buying from bitmaintech  buy only s-1s  2 at at time since that is under 600 usd.

There is no requirement to report payments for merchandise. That is on page one of the instructions for form 1099-MISC, which would otherwise be used for reporting such payments.

You still need to calculate as capital gain or loss on the disposition of the BTC and report accordingly.

BTW, the payment reporting requirement is based on a minimum of 600 to one payee during a year, not per transaction. But that doesn't matter here.

Double your Personal Bitcoin Funds.
I wonder if Bitmain needs a distributor in Canada. I'm a registered corporation with a store front and already involved in mining for quite some time. I could offer debit/credit transactions and local pickups. I wonder.

Not looking to defend minerstore.  I   never did business ,

but current USA tax law demands more from you if you make any purchase in BTC over 600usd.

That was so sweet...so called ressellers are now.....hey @minerstore, where you are?  How about now?

Pallet a day of s1! Hahahhaaa

I knew this is just scam..
Thanks bitmain- and for others user, please do research before trusting anyone.

About sushi and YXT i know i can trust them as i bought from sushi in the past and from YXT. Juan  just been around for long and other people reported abut buying from him and there was never negativity.

MINERSTORE-Maybe not scam but definatelly smells fishy and dishonest.

Feedback left-once all allegation will clear i will revise that.

Hi again - we were not going to justify a response to your posts on this thread anymore, but I would like to point out a critical detail that s1lverbox has missed.

This list is a list of distributors. It is not a list of resellers, if you go back and actually read our posts you will see that we only claim to be a reseller. We are a reseller and obviously would not be on this list.

If we use your logic, then why is minersource not on the list?

I would also like to point out that you, as far as we know, haven't purchased an item from us or me in the past. Until you do, you have no basis for complaining about us. I would challenge that you actually purchase something from us and experience our service instead of leaving negative comments that have no backing.

Thank you and good day

I'm guessing you are fairly new to the mining world.  In this world, scammers abound.  Anyone who pops up out of no where and makes claims that look fishy are viewed, rightfully so, with EXTREME suspicion.  You are, essentially, guilty until proven innocent.

M
I have been mining and selling miners and bitcoin stuff for about a year, but I am new to posting on forums. I typically just read the forums for information and such. This would be a first for posting on here. I know first hand that there are scammers out there, and can understand the skepticism. I don't think we sound "fishy" but that's only a matter of opinion.

Long story short, I don't think it should matter that we are authorized resellers or not. We sell Bitmain products that come direct from bitmain. We accept credit/debit, if you don't believe us, pay with card.(directed towards s1lverbox) Your protected by your bank if we don't fulfill. Simple as that. Even better, I am sure you can risk 0.08 BTC to buy some U2 miners. We are here to stay so you might as well relax, sit back, and mine some BTC
