ok that is good news you can connect to the s3 from the comcast router, that means the lan is working now.

now we just have to figure out why the s3 cant see the internet.

Common default settings in the router are to limit the IP range to 50. So this will often fall out of the .127 range, look for a check box in the router gui that needs to be unchecked and applied. To be honest though, connecting two routers is a bit trying but you can usually go to Netgear website and search the tech support for Cascading Routers. Its possible that the Comcast router is blocking outside connections from devices that have not sent the password to it.

Understand a home router has one uplink port and an internal downlink port (192.168.1.1) but the internal downlink port is attached to a multiple port high speed switch.  The uplink port will have a different network designation than the downlink switch ports.  If your comcast box is giving your  netgear box an uplink address of .1.2 then your netgear downlink switch ports must have a different address like in the 192.168.2.0 network.  If you then put your laptop into a netgear downlink port and the S3 into the netgear as well, they might be 192.168.2.2 and 192.168.2.3 while the invisible internal downlink port has 192.168.2.1.

I make my top router have the highest network and the lowest the 192.168.1.0 net.

oh man............ Shocked any screen capture info i can contribute that would allow you to more specifically go about doing any/all of that??

aigh arron..... fwm man im sticking with you as weve made a gangggg of progress today... even though a whole lot of it might not show yet..... any more shots i can give you to help you process where im at?

no he doesnt need that..

basically when you have it set like he does you have a gateway and then a separate router..

you cant put them on different subnets because then only one will see the gateway.

hmmmmm ok so i keep doing this but it doesent seem to change from .0.0.0.0

http://postimg.org/image/s05evk981/cb94797c/

i guess its just a bug in the gui.. maybe cause the dns server is assigned to the wan port and not the lan port.

fuck so should i just remove that from the equation here and go back to comcast? is this piece of equipment just simply not gonna work for this?

no it should work, this is the correct way to setup a LAN.

ok so where would you go next? re run ping and nslookup?

still striking out w these :/

did you reboot the s3?
you probably should reboot the comcast router too.
