i belive this shows its already set a .2 correct?

and idk if you can pick this up or not... but where it says lan and wan setup in my netgear router.... those two options are not actually clickable hyperlinks... i cant access that page :/

http://postimg.org/image/kxi11bj6r/

yeah but you dont want to keep it dhcp as it could change and throw off your whole network.
so set it static, and keep that ip and gateway and subnet.
under dns make it 8.8.8.8

ok done

re pinging and such would be next step yes? headed to try that now... still looks to be showing same connection status

hmm still bad adress on ping and same story on nslookup

http://postimg.org/image/e2m6ijmtt/3798cafa/

you have to reboot everything.. to make the ips all match up.

happily!

im struggling to get you pictures easy enough to understand as well..... this is a big mess more or less I can unplug everything unnecessary as well alot of stuffs plugged in rn...but obviously im trying to solve this one at a time.......

so from the port labeled internet on my netgear i have it connected to the first port on my comcast.... are you saying switch that so it doesent go into the designated internet port on netgear? jus run comcast into one of the general lan ports??

hopefully the format of those pics is acceptable if you dont wanna dl them i completley understand ill reformat in postimage jus let me kno....

I realize how comical this setup probably looks to.... lol... with that ghetto ass supercharger fan setup i have... but yea

ok i cant see your mail attachments but YES, you cant have 2 internet WAN ports connected together..

ok so lets make your LAN work.

is your comcast a modem or a router? im guessing since your comcast has an IP its a router..

so lets hook it up like this..
COMCAST to LAN1 on the netgear..
S3 to LAN2 on the netgear.

leave the internet port on the netgear open. im sure there is a spot in the ui that says something like assign lan to wan, but we can work on that later.

in the netgear router, under LAN..
assign it ip 192.168.1.2 < this is important as the comcast and netgear cant have the same ip.
also turn off DHCP server on the netgear, you cant have 2 and the comcast one should be enabled by default.

you might have to reboot the netgear router for these changes.

it was... I bought a netgear router in the midst of all this thinking that would help so as of now since ultimately id like to have a few of these up and running im just trying to set them all up through that as opposed to my comcast router

heres a few screeens from that gui

ok i think i understand now.. so you got something like this..

S3 (ip 192.168.1.5) > netgear router (ip 192.168.1.2) > comcast router (ip 192.168.1.1) > internet?

if this is the case, im also guessing you plugged the comcast router into the "internet" part of the netgear router.. this wont work.. replug that cat5e into a regular lan port..

can you take a pic of how you got everything connected..

it might could be something else is using the IP?

how do you have the s3 connected?
you have more then one s3?

try pushing the nslookup button and seeing what that says.

yeah its not finding internet..
let me see your computers network status.
in windows 7 go into network and sharing, then change adapter settings, then right click and choose status, then hit details.

heres the real mindblower.......

Im on a mac :/ lol

http://postimg.org/image/dt6nn8idx/62c5c8b9/

ok thats not a problem. perhaps your router can give some answers.. can you log into 192.168.1.1?

im guessing the s3 is plugged directly into the router?

ON THE WAN TAB..

ok turn it off DHCP and put it on static, then input these numbers

IPv4 address 192.168.1.5
ipv4 netmask 255.255.255.0
ipv4 gateway 192.168.1.1
ipv4 broadcast 192.168.1.255
custom DNS servers  8.8.8.8

then check the box that says disable the dhcp.

hit save and apply.

on the LAN TAB leave it on dhcp client. dont change anything on the LAN tabs..

ok here we go

http://postimg.org/image/x581gl42l/75c991c5/
