Also I am thinking that I am getting a pull - pull situation. The miner is pulling from the front to back and then the PSU is pulling from back to front. I think that is helping. I may have to tweak this once it starts getting warmer and I definitely will not be overclocking.

My new miner is hashing along nicely.

Where do you have that thing, sitting in the freezer?

Nope in my garage. Ambient air temp is +7°C but the nights are still dropping to -6°C.

Here is my pair:

New one is on the left. Another is supposed to arrive tomorrow.

can anyone with RMA experience share if it is necessary to send the entire miner back or can i just send the faulty parts. Thanks

If you can diagnose exactly what part it is, you can send that part in if you arrange it with the US team in advance. Contact them via ZenDesk. Be sure to link to your post describing the issues, what type and how many miners you wish to have repaired/replaced and your bitmaintech.com order number.

@ Bitmain:

Are these brand new & unused - or are they from your mining farm?

I need to figure out the RMA process too.

This is what a S5 looks like when it dies overnight:

Does someone want to sell its used but working C1 in italy?
WIth the difficulty going up so rapidly, you're not going to break even with the device, imho.
I am buying it to heat my house... Smiley

I have a 1200W Corsair PSU... how much can I safely overclock my C1 miner?

Thanks,
ilpirata79

The PSU is able to provide 1200watts, the C1 is drawing ~900 watts.
You can safely OC the C1 till max frequency, the PSU will survive only the C1 can get a bit stressed Wink

Please DO NOT place cardboard or any flammable item on top of the Antminer.  It can be a fire hazard.

What about some thin plastic like the sides. Does it get hotter on top then the sides?

[Unofficial mod] If you choose a plastic type with a Tm of 100C+ you'll be good. Alternatively you could use electrical or duct tape.

do you know what size screws i should get for the back fan?

also would adding a back fan decrease the temps enough to slow down the front one??
what if i used one of those fan speed adapters.. im assuming the fan is just a regular 4 pin pwm connector?
i have a few of those that come with CM fans that are preset to 1800 and 1600 and 1200. altho i think those speeds are set for a 2500 rpm fan, i think its 70% 60% and 50%

Screws are M4 .70. Then you need to find the length you want.

My S5 runs at 393.75M freq and uses ~640W at the wall, measured using a kill-a-watt.
I've seen others post their S5 drawing ~670W at the same freq, so there's variation.

How do I calculate power consumed based on frequency?

350 = X KWH
375 = X KWH
400 = X KWH

I remember someone telling me that 375 = 0.65 KWH but I have no idea where the number came from. Please explain it to me.

Bitmain says these are shipping March 30th.  Any idea how long they are taking to ship to US?

If you want to buy from Bitmain, I'd suggest I ordering soon, before their "limited quantity" run is sold out.
