Got my S5's in !

Some fans I'm going to try playing with...

More to come.

Thanks Bitmain ! Look forward to putting these through their paces.

Cheers.

EDIT: Stock fans are indeed loud. Way too loud to be near a bedroom.

Off to experiment with some other fans.

EDIT2:
Yep, that's better. Still too loud to be in a bedroom, IMO, but quiet enough to put in the living room.

591W at the wall

So far so good !!!

More later...

EDIT3:

Much better

[...] this means you need an ip scan program.  I think angry ip or advanced ip are still good for windows.

I am running my home on macs so I am no longer sure if the 2 above are still good links

What do you use on Mac OS X for that purpose?

You can always just look at the DHCP leases on your router and get it from there.

Bitmain released an IP scanner on their minerlink page https://www.minerlink.com/ (They need to get a new certificate if they are going to use this domain name, so you can ignore the certificate error for now, feel free to view it before you trust it)

S5 Question - possibly noob question apologies if this has been covered.

"PSU: A power supply unit is not included, and you will need to provide an ATX PSU. There are 4 PCI-e connectors for +12V DC input and all four are required. Do not connect more than one PSU to the same hashing board."

A CX500M has two PCI-E plugs. True or false, a single S5 could be powered by two 500W PSUs as long as you don't cross streams. One PSU per board.

I have a number of Corsair PSU's, several with enough power and enough PCI-E plugs to run an S5. As I have a number of lower power PSUs that only have 2x PCI-E outs, can I utilize two PSUs to run a single S5?
In case you aren't aware, you can also use PSU Molex connectors by picking up a couple dual Molex to PCI-E adapters, they're pretty cheap and spread the load over more cables.

I use iNet from apple app store (maybe called inet toolbox now)-used to be $4-5 (maybe I bought on Thanksgiving sale), but $7.99 now

ip scanner is a free app form the apple app store

ip scanner - home is a 4 dollar app from the apple app store-----  I still have about 120 usd in credit at the app store due to a black Friday promo

So I purchased ip scanner home ----it does uo to 100 devices or some high number .  the free app only does 7 or 8 max.  I think right now I have 21 devices on the network.

4 pcs' ,11 miners , a storage server, printer. some virtual computers and routers

Cool thanks, and reasonably priced (as allways)...

So these ones are setup to use DHCP out of the box instead of static 192.168.1.whatever the old ones were?

Yes, it comes preconfigured to grab DHCP.

Once it got the IP through DHCP, you will see the MAC address in web gui as well, so you can link (reserve) IP address and MAC address of your miner in the router settings, meaning that router will not change the IP address for your miner, although it is still going through DHCP (Not static).
This might be a good idea because you can "lose" the IP you setup first time, making it necessary to check again, which is a nuisance when you have many miners.
My router is constantly changing my phone, laptop, etc IP addresses otherwise.

I've another 2 small questions.. If someone could answer me please (sorry for being noob).

1) If you buy it you only need to buy a  PSU and then connect to the antminer right, follow tutos and then you'll get your estimated hashes right ? You  don't need to do anything more?

2) Btw, I've seen that Amp suggested are 70A (So would be a problem if you connect this item into your home at some room ?

Thanks in advance

You will need an ethernet cable (at least cat 5) as well so you can connect to your router (NOT PC!). Miner will find your network, but you will need to find it's IP by using advanced Ip scanner on PC or iNET on a Mac (it will be called antminer). Then, you connect to this IP adddress in the browser by simply typing it in in the www window, like 192.168.1.120
To get amperage, you divide ~600W (at default speed, but could be slightly higher) by your wall voltage (110/120, 220 or 240)=amperes at the wall
However, you would NOT be able to live in the same room as this miner (unless you extensively modify it with one or even two "silent" fans).

So these ones are setup to use DHCP out of the box instead of static 192.168.1.whatever the old ones were?

yes so if you are  a router with 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 it finds an ip address.

this means you need an ip scan program.  I think angry ip or advanced ip are still good for windows.

Anybody have 2 running on a single EVGA 1300 G2?  Should work but wondering what your results have been.

Haven't tried, but the numbers look fine. You should get both at least at stock speeds, maybe even a little overclocking.

Speaking of power at the wall. Has anyone done any tests to see what power is being pulled at the wall? And if so, what kind of 80 Plus rating and wattage does your PSU have. Just wondering at what efficiency and % load that Bitmain got 590W at the wall?

My review is at https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/s5-review-908126. My 750W Bronze rated PSU has plenty of power for maximum overclocking.
