well batch 9 is available to order at 2.54 btc. but if you order 50+ they will knock off a couple dollars each (2.53 btc). even better, order 200+ and get it for 2.50 btc

I had to read it 4 times because it didn't seem like much of a discount.

Only 0.01? That's like $5

Hopefully the AVALON becomes cheaper.

So with BTC at $450, the miner price is about $1125. About the same as what Li is paying for his miners (i.e. $1150). See Group Buys for further details.

Bulk sales, as far as bitmain are concerned, usually signify EOL if we are to go by the experience of S3's and S5's. But end of Jan is a bit of a way off in bitcoin terms, fingers crossed diff rise as well but next-gen is certainly on the horizon thus cementing the notion this is fool's gold!

wat the ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ  Batch 9 is out !  Whats this, shipping after jan 20th-30th, and price is 2.54btc.  Ha!  They have quantity discount...order 50 and get....0.01btc off trolololol.  Why dont we just wait for jan 20th, and the price will be much lower I suppose, due to crazy diff increases that are coming...I just dont know what to think about this.

any interesting specs on B9?
looks the same as Batch 8. makes sense since it can hit 4.7TH with fewer chips and similar efficiency than the earlier batches.

I think if the difficulty moves >15% this jump, it will correct itself or have a small movement in the next period since 1w/GH gear will get squeezed out again

The last time I saw the Bitmain website, the Batch 8 page had a FIXED BTC price. In other words, it was 3.1 BTC regardless of the fiat value of those 3.1 Bitcoins. There have been times in the past on previous batches, where the USD price was fixed, and the number of BTC required for purchase was variable.

S7 @ 3.1BTC shipping 5 days after payment recieved is fool's gold!
Shipping from stock at what was at the time a price cut smacks of a clearance sale. The significance of that clearance by bitmain may simply be undermining a competitor or clearing space for the next generation BM chip. Either way, with the network diff they have to recoup as much as possible from their stocks before they become worthless.

I think the price is more a reflection of how much BTC has risen in value, rather than any fire sale. S7 have some way to run yet. Even with the Difficulty rises we are seeing and the halving still the best value for money miner on the market at the moment.

Rich

This. The price went from $1600 to 3.1BTC (~$1350), which is like 20% less.
the next difficulty increase looks to be around 15%. and they apparently are caught up to pre-orders so can sell as fast as they produce.

totaly reasonable IMO. at >3.8BTC for a batch 7 it was a simple no-go for me. At 3.1BTc i was happy to pull the trigger on a single unit to try out, and might follow up with a few more

Except that their site is down.  Every time BTC goes above $420, the site seems to go down.  I know because I wanted to buy while prices were above $430 (and at for a moment, they were $440), but the site was down.  I was hoping the price for a miner would cost less BTC, even though USD it's the same.

I don't sell coins.  Instead, I reinvest in mining equipment.

Bitmain has been down a long time. I hope the Chinese government hasn't shut them down. Anybody heard any news about why they're down?

Perhaps they are about to release S9 with the Full Custom 14nm 0.1J/GH BM1386 ASIC  Smiley ?

Even if Bitmain or any other miner manufacturer releases a technology, unless is a really breakthrough, maybe it's a then not good idea going 'all in' for mining. Besides the diff skyrocketing with industrial mining farms, there is a block halving coming up someday in July 2016 that will drop the reward per block found down to 12.5 BTC. Ouch...

no buy (except a buy of btc itself) was a good buy with current speed of diff rising.
people, myself including, did not properly account for how many they can make and sell.

Yes, s9 at .08j doing 8th and selling for 4btc. You think the diff is crazy now, 2000PH by April.

Heh, that would indeed be crazy.

I hope they provide coupons

Yep, trade in your batch 1 s7 that cost 7btc, delivered late and only made 20% roi. They will give you a 250 coupon for the trade. Haha

Now the money is free, and so the people will be
Hello,
I am thinking of overclocking my S7 B6 (4,05TH/s) a bit. Is there a special thread for OC of S7?
If not, what can you recommend? It runs at 41°C while hashing at a Frequency of 600.
Thank you and kind regards

You should overclock to a frequency where you get > 0.001 % AND < 0.005 % HW error. (between 0.001% and 0.005%)
This will allow you to get the best hashrate for your voltage.

I have a batch 8, I find its pretty picky.  change fan speed and all goes to hell.  hw goes up, sometimes i get x's for some chips.  at 3600rpm I seem to get close to 4700ghs, with 0.002-0.005 hw error rate.  So far, the way to go is:  find a setting that works, and dont ever touch that thing again.  temps are around 52-55c.  Anybody has a batch 8 that can help out with settings ?  I'd like to put fan speed back down to 35%, but then I get 4550-4600ghs with 62-66c temps.
