Well in my experience miners run a very long time, 24/7.  Some people have problems, but it seems to be hit or miss.  I've run mine (s1 to s5) for more than a year no problems.  Macedonia eh?  Cool, I've been there once...road trip...nice place, I remember eating at a 5 star restaurant next to a lake, for a couple of bucks...awesome country.  The price doesnt go up with difficulty, but right now it is.  Buying mining equipment is a bit of a gamble, like buying bitcoin I suppose.

You've probably been to Ohrid. It's where I live.
So do you think the bitcoin will rise in the next couple of months?

Yeah I believe we are going into another massive pump...to be followed by a massive dump Smiley

One last question. I just realised the new Batch 9 on the website. How is it any different than the Batch 8?

Does anyone have any info on the life span of Antminer S7 Batch 8 or Batch 9?
Or at least approximately

Lifespan in terms of making money or reliability?

I am asking because this is going to be my first miner ever. I am planning on running it 24/7 in a really cold room.
Noise is not a problem. Electricity is $0.089 kW/h.
In my country the average monthly payment for a job is $220... Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
With my calculations this machine is going to be bringing me around $415 per month and around $330 profit. Break even in 3 months .

Break even will be longer my friend.  But "free" heat is always good no ?  With the difficulty rise, you will make 400, then, 350, then 300 per month (im pulling numbers out of thin air), etc.  But you will make a profit even after halving hopefully, you electricity isnt too bad.  Also consider that you will sell the miner after a while.  How much will it be worth after the halving ?  Hard to say.  Judging from experience, it will retain much of its value.  Its a lot of money (even though some people here dont hesitate to drop 50k on miners...but then again its all re-invested money).  Also dont forget customs and taxes, I had to pay over 300$cad (god damn...).

Thanks for the quick reply.
Customs are not a problem Smiley
Since I got into bitcoin like a month ago I still do not know how easy/hard it is to sell a bitcoin.
I created a wallet a few days ago and bought $20 worth of BTC just to see how the procedure works.
Now I want to ask, if the difficulty rises, isnt the BTC's price going to go up?
And literally less than 100 people in my country know about BTC and mining.. Not sure how I am going to sell the miner.
And I was asking about the life span meaning how long till it dies after running 24/7.
English is not my native.

About 3 days from now, it will not survive the +20% increase in difficulty.

With the help of a $460 BTC it will survive this increase without problems, short term is not the issue....

So with BTC at $450, the miner price is about $1125. About the same as what Li is paying for his miners (i.e. $1150). See Group Buys for further details.
Yeah, and before batch 9 was out I was thinking he got a better deal.  To me for his group buy, he should have gotten a price sub $1100 don't you agree?  I want to get in on a few, but I can't make my mind up about hosting with Li, or shipping to another hosting facility direct from Bitmain.

So as they said on Batch 8 this looks to be the Final Spec and we have exchanged Spec Changes at every batch for Price Reductions at every Batch.  Smiley

Has anyone got any more info / pictures of the controller board, with reduced number of Fan & Hash connectors that was reported?

Rich

Ya that was me who reported it. I'll take (and post) a pic later. Sorry for the delay. I'm disabled and having a bad time the last 12 hrs. Will get to it tho.

I have a Batch 6, it is beeping.

The lights on the hashing boards flash right before it starts beeping.

The power draw from the wall is nominal (389 watts - typical for the miner not running).

The light on the front is red.

The temperature reported is 20C

I stopped the beeping by pressing and holding the button for a few seconds. My PSU power output is 12.2V, current power draw is 1121 Watts.

No X's, no other info, just beeping constantly while fan is at full blast.

Any chance it can't get to the Internet and your pool? The beeping and fan sound like "I can't to the Internet and need help. I'll run my fan and beep until then".

I don't own an S7, so I may be way off.
For me if one of the fans is not spinning it will just go into beep mode.
If one fan goes out the one that is working may spin it a bit, have to look at it with a flashlight to make
sure it is really spinning under power.

probably soon buy some of this well developed miners , i see these days S7 is best miner for home miners because of fan feature , posibilites dropping the fan speed and underclocking for less noise .
