I have to admit that I sold one coupon for 0.01 BTC. Since then I've rethought things and I'm going to sit on my remaining coupons, effectively burning them.

I'm no fan of Bitmain after what I went through with half of my batch 1 order being delayed. Between that and the parade of empty blocks from AntPool they do not deserve my loyalty.

Rather than trying to profit from this, I'm more interested in reducing the appeal of batch 15. Therefore I'm playing my admittedly tiny role in decreasing the appeal of this batch and possibly reducing the rate of difficulty increase.

So go ahead and ask me to sell or give you a coupon. The answer is no.

I like this thinking.  I'm going to burn mine too.

And I should comment as it sounded like I was against all sales after reading, it was just  murdito's ad that took up 3 posts worth of space.   I think it's great that people give out some for free (just something that has happened a lot with bitmain coupons).

But I understand the position to sell to.  Getting a little compensation for selling some is understandable as it helps cover some of possible overpaid amounts in past.   So I'm not high and mighty and against all sales.   It was just that one that took up so much space in thread.

I gave two away.  I have 34 left.

It would be nice to sell 30 of them for 0.15  which is .005 each
I get edonkey's position of burning them.

But bitmaintech fucked me on that first batch if I were to sell 30 coupons for a total of .15 btc  it would come close to the compensation they owe to me.

I know they paid 67 usd to the bad batch 1 owners on li's hosted group buy in china  as I had one there.

So 30 coupons for 0.15 btc send me a pm .  I do not expect to sell them but it is my only chance to ever get compensation for that batch 1 dud.

I love coupon times like this when it is a good savings.  It causes chatter in thread which is good.  The drawback is man does it turn into a BST like in here.  Crap the post above me used a ton of page to list something that could be much smaller.

Hat's off to all who do some free.   Its kinda a good thing when they do these mass coupons that a decent amount end up free for good users.

That highly suggests used hardware.  It seems unlikely they would have installed Dec firmware on a miner built more recently.
All of Bitmain's hardware is used, they don't sell anything that hasn't mined for them in one of their farms for a while already (and probably already ROI'd their production cost prior to resale).

ROI looks pretty good and with the $100 coupon and quick shipping even better.

no way that they will be giving out $100 coupons if profitability was good.

They are turning inventory and volume sales.  Bitmain is also clearing out the inventory that has already produced a profit for them. In turn, they are incentivising their product to move it out the door quicker.  Check out their business model:  1) Their own mining operation 2) Their own pool and 3) product for sale.  All three working in concert.

Looking from our perspective: ROI in 2.5 months and 1 month profitability plus the sale of the S7 in future months.

I don't necessarily disagree, but difficulty could go up 60% in one mo if 14-16nm machines will go on sale or THEY start mining with them.
What would be the price of such resale be in 2.5 mo, $200?
Money better spent just buying (or not buying) btc here, IMO.

You kinda hit one thing on the head this is killing resale value of S7's.  And the interesting thing is it likely will effect all other miner's prices to.... which becomes interesting.

So really good for someone buying a bunch of new S7's (assuming difficulty does not shot up insane).  But difficulty has become hard to predict.  They will sell though inventory though I predict at this price with coupons.  I did not see this coming personally.

I ordered several S7 batch 12.  Some of them came in with firmware dated March 4, 2016 and some of them came in with firmware dated December 3, 2015.  I have more Batch 15 coming in this week and will be interested to see what date of firmware is on them.

That highly suggests used hardware.  It seems unlikely they would have installed Dec firmware on a miner built more recently.

I am having an issue with 3 of my s7 batch 2. They are running but not mining and I am not sure what do there seems to be no CG Miner after my last reset.

Miner Type Antminer S7
Hostname antMiner
Model GNU/Linux
Hardware Version x.x.x.x
Kernel Version Linux 3.8.13 #22 SMP Tue Dec 2 15:26:11 CST 2014
File System Version Fri Oct 23 17:00:53 CST 2015
Cgminer Version
Uptime 0
Load Average 0.18, 0.04, 0.01

That hardware version reporting as X.X.X.X with no hashing was discussed a page or two ago in this thread.  The person who reported it was able to fix it by reflashing the firmware.  I mentioned also that I had seen this behavior on previous antminer models (but not my S7's) and was able to fix it by doing the reset to default button.

Thank you

Make sure you are careful when messing with firmware.  If you have anyway to have a battery back up or way to make sure it does not lose power, and also make sure not to close window till finished.

I hate doing firmware updates myself.  My miners normally stay on the firmware they were shipped with at this point.  Changing firmware is kinda the last fix I try.
