ROI looks pretty good and with the $100 coupon and quick shipping even better.

no way that they will be giving out $100 coupons if profitability was good.

They are turning inventory and volume sales.  Bitmain is also clearing out the inventory that has already produced a profit for them. In turn, they are incentivising their product to move it out the door quicker.  Check out their business model:  1) Their own mining operation 2) Their own pool and 3) product for sale.  All three working in concert.

Looking from our perspective: ROI in 2.5 months and 1 month profitability plus the sale of the S7 in future months.

SHIPITO.COM

SHIPS TO AMERICA OR OTHER CHOSEN DESTINATION,DECLARE WHAT YOU WANT AND RESHIP TO YOU IN E.U.

Scream how much you want , it does not seem credible to me.

It does not look bad service shipito.com
But I do not understand a thing.
if I buy from bitmain, and I send it in Austria, I have to pay customs fees in Austria, and then I have to pay shipping from Austria to Italy + shipping.

where's the savings Huh?

You don't really need to worry about taxes. Just use viabox.com service they will deliver the product with cheapest price possible without hiding any fees from you.

Can this product ship to Finland?
Kyllä, joudut vaan hoitamaan tilauksen tullauksen ja maksamaan arvonlisäverot koko summasta (tuotteet+postikulut).
Ei tullimaksua, mutta arvonlisävero 24%

-----
Yes, you just need to deal with the customs clearance and pay VAT for the total sum (products+shipping).
No customs duty, but a 24% VAT.

my question is why the sudden surge of coupons. seems a bit fishy that they suddenly care about their customers and want to offer them a large discount. Are these units actually new stock or stock that "tested" and is being pulled off their farms so new faster/better stock can go in. Really no way to tell if a unit is "used" or "new" if it has been cleaned/maintained well.

I'm guessing supply and demand.  Demand has dropped so they have too much supply and to reduce their inventory they have to let them go cheaper.  In letting them go for cheaper more people buy them and push up the difficulty.  The higher the difficulty the harder it is for bitfury or any other manufacturer to release and device that would be marketable at an affordable price.  There's no wait time on this batch at all.  Usually there's a one to two week lead time between batches but this one ships within five days so they're sitting on a bunch of these I'm guessing.

I am in agreement with Legacy2005  "my question is why the sudden surge of coupons. seems a bit fishy that they suddenly care about their customers and want to offer them a large discount. I am wondering all of a sudden there is a price drop AND there are coupons.  They are wanting out of this inventory quick...Why....because they are replenishing their mining operation with something different and selling off their current miners.   This will not happen overnight.  This will take a few weeks to a month, then release a new product to the public.  My thoughts in agreement with Legascy2005.

Did Antpool just have a 200PH spike over the last couple of days?  Kind of coincidental.

yes they did have that spike  so if you have really cheap power the s-7 may be okay for the cheap price.

but you need 4-7 cent power  not 8-10 cent power  and of course you need psu's in hand.

Very good point Philipma1957!  There is nothing we can do about what Bitmain is doing.  What we do have control over is what we are doing.  If we take a look at ROI for the current S7's, you will see that there is a ROI, provided you have good electric rates and do not have to purchase more PSUs.  With all of this information I would be inclined to buy more.  And, not worry about what Bitmain is doing; they are going to do what they are going to do anyway.  I do project there will be a new model out in 1-2months, but right now I can profit with the existing S7's until the new models are released.  I am buying more.

Edit:  After writing this, I made an order for more and will order more at the end of the month.

I guess we will soon see a large diff increase, again
Because they are replacing the S7 with new miners
Good luck making ROI Tongue

just mine man mine.

BTW I had 36 now have 35 coupons.

The biggest problem I see with these cheaper and cheaper batches is that ROI on the older batches just keeps looking worse.  I have S7 miners from 3 different batches and ROI is closer on the most recent one than the oldest ones.  The price on the newer batches drops faster than the income on the previous ones which means that sitting on BTC all along would actually have been more profitable than buying.  Another thing that is bugging me about these is the ROI time, due to the huge difficulty jump, is much longer than with some of the previous antminers.  And trusting a machine to stay working for 6 months to make ROI is risky.  I have two different miners that each cost more than 1k at purchase that are mining at less than full capacity due to blade failures and without warranty there is nothing I can do.  The odds of them making a break even return are basically zero already.

You can't mine with a S7 if you live in a dorm because its too loud. Maybe get an A6 or S3

I dunno, downgrading to a lower hashing rate for a greater premium doesn't really entice me heh. My "dorm" is also more like an apartment and I'm by myself so that's like +9999 points for the S7.  Cheesy  A little sound doesn't bother me tbh, especially when it yells "ching cha ching."

Do you work/sleep in the same room as the miner?

Yup. I can always throw it in the bathroom... although the machine probably wouldn't like my 1 hour steaming hot showers too much.  Grin

#miningstruggles

buy it then lower the freq from 700 to 500  and lower the fans to 30- 35%

lastly put a piece of flex duct on it.

http://www.lowes.com/pd_481274-85334-MEA-1225-6___?productId=50401806&pl=1&Ntt=flex+duct

set the miner fully inside this duct about 1 foot from the opening.  punch/cut a hole in the duct so the power cables get inside .

you can then direct the tube to push the hot air out of the room via a window.

That's an interesting idea. I love how anyone can get so creative with different ways to tackle problems when optimizing the mining process. Fortunately I have a giant AC unit right in the middle of one of the windows. Heat shouldn't be an issue but I'll probably set the miner to blow it's heated exhaust into/near the intake of the AC.

Then this is probably not the miner for you. Trust me you won't be able to stand the noise. Try getting an A6 instead.

I looked up the decibel levels and it does seem that the S7 does make quite some noise. From what I gather it typically outputs about 60-70 dB, similar to a hairblower. Although that is quite some noise, I think I can tolerate it. I guess it can join the orchestra in my room along with my PC and huge AC running all day long.

This aside, the noise in the S7 comes from its fans right (that's the only moving part I can think of)? Could I not just replace the stock fans with quieter fans if noise was a concern?
