Why such on experiments with noname PSU? Why not take branded one?

WTF PSU is that? Really 1500W? Smiley
Corsair AX1500 is 1500W, RM1000 is 1000W and so on.
Accord is also really 1500W or 500W?

I need a help.

My rig is Asus Z270-P/Celeron/16Gb/ Vega56 with 64 BIOS

I use this instruction:
https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/74hjqn/monero_and_vega_the_definitive_guide/?sort=new

If I install 2 GPU - 130W per card
If I install 4 GPU - 160W per card

Why?

Hmm, I noticed that each additional card would add marginally more to my draw from the wall. Not as much as you're reporting - maybe about 5W/GPU (that is 1 GPU adds 130, 2 adds 135 (265 total), 3 adds 140 (405 total), etc.). I just chalked it up to extra CPU, lowered PSU efficiency, or something. Are you saying 2 cards bumps you by 260W, but 4 cards bumps you by 640W?

370W and 720W total.

Your numbers are a bit off, then - what PSU are you using? Most are most efficient around 50% load (something like that, going from memory).

370W and 720W total.
are you sure, that you applied the same settings etc. to all of your cards, even to the new ones?

BUT:

370W for 2 VEGA and 720W for 4 VEGA seems OKAY for my opinion.

I assume: 165-170W per card and 40W for the rest w/o VEGA cards

Today I got my first VEGA 56.

The hashrate is max at 1940H/s but frequently it drops down to 1870H/s and then rises to 1940H/s back and so on.
Average hashrate (15min) is 1915H/s.

I am just wondering, because my Vega 64s with the same setup/mod have quite stable hasrates around 1980H/s +/-3H/s

This my setup: Vega 56 with Vega64LC bios to 1408/1100@905mV (regmod) and August 23th blochchain drivers
"gpu_threads_conf" : [
   { "index" : 0, "intensity" : 2016, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
   { "index" : 0, "intensity" : 1736, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
],

Any ideas?

Thanks and cheers
make sure you have fan RPM enough to keep memory cool.
and gandalf's cast xmr does better with vega56 than xmr_stak

Meanwhile:
-I flashed the V56 back to stock bios
-removed all reg-mods

-Tested with xmr-stak -> same behavior NO constant hashrate.

-Downloaded and configured cast xmr and make it run with the stock & unflashed V56:
-> constant hashrate Smiley
-> with stock V56 hashrates above 2000 H/s possible. BUT it gets quite hot and more than 200Watt per card - undervolting etc. required Smiley

I guess the behavior is related to the combination of V56 and xmr-stak.

Seems like a normal difference between 56 and 64(~3%)? Considering theres over 10% more shader cores on 64, 56s with 64s bios do well.

Maybe your 56 cant handle 1100hbm? I have 2 64s, 1100 and other is 1065 hbm capable.
You are right, Vega 56 is slower than Vega 64.
But this is not what I am complaining about.

I am complaining about, that the Vega 56 is going up and down in hashrate: between 1870 and 1940H/s.

And I repeat, its not carved in stone every vega can do even 1100mhz hbm Wink Cool it down or lower the clocks like suggested.

Temps are okay around below 60°C.
I testet lower frequencys for GPU and HBM2.
Even I flashed back stock V56 bios... (hashrate is between 1060H/s 990H/s)
-> Same behavior :-/

I played round a lot, as well with cooling, GPU and HBM2 temps are below 60°C.
Maybe I give cast xmr a try, later

someone tried the new driver to solve the 4/x Vega HBCC problem?

It doesn't solve the 4x Vega HBCC problem.

though for some rig...porn. This goes up/down literally :-(

It is a parallel thread here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/cast-xmr-high-speed-xmrcryptonight-miner-for-rx-vega-gpus-2-khashs-2256917
disclaimer - it is closed source and with devfee. But Wolf0 examined its internals and said it is interesting. Will hope it doesn't have some virus ))
