Wish BFL would give us some type of news updates Sad

They posted in this thread (at the top of this page even) 2 weeks ago, and there's still another 2 months till their quoted shipping time. They're not exactly known for their clockwork-like weekly updates. I'd give it another month, and we'll see what updates they have when we're closer to the shipping date.

BFL claims they start shipping in October.
Like this page says they really promise.

Though my question is, wich items you are gonna ship first?
Are you guys first gonna ship the Jalapenos and maybe a couple of SC Mini rigs?
For example: as far we can guess it's maybe gonna takes another 4 months after October before you ship the Single SC units, though the shipping started in October alright like promised.
Can BFL give us maybe a little bit clarification on that area?

Thanks.
They said somewhere (no idea where, search the forum?) that they'll ship them all at the same time.

Here's the policy clarification again:

http://www.butterflylabs.com/products/

The initial orders will be grouped into a batch prior to shipment.  This will ensure no one is an unfair beneficiary of disproportionate hashing power.  Having said this, we only have so much production capacity and the initial order group will still do very very well.  That being the case, here are the rules we will stick to in releasing these units.

1/3rd of the units will go in order priority of purchase date.
1/3rd of the units will go to trade in customers.
1/3rd of the units will go to random orders placed in the first month (6/23 - 7/23).

Both priority customers and trade in customers may benefit from random selection prior to their natural shipping order.

Refunds and charge backs:  All sales are final unless we fail to perform.  That includes both performance and shipping targets.  60 days past target and we'll happily refund your purchase.  If you would really like a refund anyway, just ask and we'll probably be able to take care of you.  Nonetheless, we reserve the right to handle it on a case by case basis.

Will you be sticking to this 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 policy for orders placed after the 2nd month?  post 7/24?

Some time ago I did a pre order (paid in BTC), I could replace this order for another and pay the difference?

Pay Pal is now available on BFL's site for a payment method.  I'm not sure when they put it up exactly but I'd guess a week or two by now.  I just now last time I checked I didn't see it there.

Alrighty! So the myth of the USB Powered 1gh/s rig is busted.
THANKCRAP! Now i dont need to worry So Hard about GPU mining becoming unprofitable

The Jalapeno is indeed USB powered.  The alternate plug-in refered to by the CSR is the option of an alternate source of power for the heat plate.

My goodness they are vague. A hot plate... sigh... really? That was the best idea. Anyway.

If I was ordering ASICs I would expect they would be produced and then goto another factory
to actually be put on a board with all the other electronics. Then it would hit the next step in
the process of putting the board in a container of some type. Finally it could be tested and packaged.
Naturally you would do a lot more testing then I have mentioned before the container step.

So having production chips in Oct means a totally different thing to me then having those
chips actually on a board that can use them. Ditto the software ready to use it properly.

Of course being vague by saying you will have the "chips" in Oct will just raise more questions
then it answers.

The Jalapeno is indeed USB powered.  The alternate plug-in refered to by the CSR is the option of an alternate source of power for the heat plate.

Just to be clear. If we want the plate hot, that's the only reason to use the external power source? If we just want it to hash really fast we can just plug it in with ONE USB2 cord?

The question you're really asking is exactly what is the power draw of the Jalapeno.  This is something we've decided to refrain from publishing until we've comfortably completed our live tests.  Til then, you can expect that it's USB powered for the purposes of hashing and may or may not also include a wall plug for extra hot plate performance.

I think that answers my question in that you are waiting for live tests but USB alone may be all that's required for normal hashing use. I don't personally care at all if it's hot, that seems like a disadvantage if anything.

Please do share whatever you know though, any updates you can provide (even if there's a level of uncertainty) is great.

Everything on track for October?

We're currently on schedule for having production chips in hand come October.  This may change, but so far we're looking good.
If you think things are on track for you to have production chips in hand for October, what does that mean for the timeline for customers having products in their hands?

It depends on where you are in the order queue of course, but the first group to be released will be the total that can be packaged and prepared as we approach the turn of the month.
