Speaking of development, checking on bitbucket showed the last aktivity somewhere in august. I guess they are working a lot in house, but all in all, it doesn't look like much is happening, or is there a better way to check up on development?

That's not true. Development goes first to Ardor (lightweight smart contracts, vouchers, etc.) and then these features will be ported to Nxt, if these are not related to parent-child chain design.

Interesting,NXT has been abandoned,and development stopped,Ardor is still 'active' developed,but the price of the two coins are almost same level.

Although the market value of ARDOR has also fallen considerably recently, the future value of ARDOR coins will gradually be reflected, which is worth holding for a long time.
