Well, I think otherwise. right now I feel that ICO is no longer very attractive to investors. even when I want to invest, I will choose IEO over ICO because of the greater clarity of the exchange. however, ICO might still be legit, it's just that we really need to choose it. for now, I don't want to invest in ICO, but it's different from IEO, if it's quality, I might be interested.
You're right! ICO projects have left too many stains in investors' mind. There were too many scammed ICO projects in the past. Therefore, I have decided not to invest in any single ICO anymore. Right now, I prefer to invest in IEO projects than ICO because it's safer. ICO projects can be legit but who knows? You can get in a trap without knowing it. Better avoid them before get scammed!
IEO have same risks if it comes from random exchange like what most of IEOs nowadays hosted at, but atleast you can select it by filtering the exchanges but for experienced people they know how to distinguish scam project to the legit ones and usually find no problem with following ICO

ICOs are still legal because there are no regulations for it, and so many scammer take advantage of ICOs to steal investors' money. If you want to invest in an ICO then I think you should give up on that, go to the exchange and join IEO, it's a lot safer.

yes indeed most of the ICO is a scam but not all, maybe those who invest in ICO because they have done a lot of research and believe if the project will develop and provide many benefits
The era for ico has already started and it looks like the only quality ico that can attract a lot of investors. I have seen so many scam icos dead before it has gotten even a single investors.
More smart investors will bring ico into the its golden era again.
Yeah I believe in this too. Smart investment is going to win over blind so called "angel" investment.
This way decent ICOs will get their funds for developing, scammers will get lost eventually

so far from the conditions out there have been no interesting ICOs anymore and many ICOs have led to scams, many investors currently prefer to participate in IEO because according to them IEO has a lot of advantages and is guarded full of trusted exchange places.
So far, I have not found a successful ICO project, most of them failed to raise funds and some have committed fraud, it seems that investors have not chosen ICO anymore, maybe ICO has begun to be abandoned by investors

The question should be if ICOs are still profitable and not if they are legit.

You got it. That's why I'm trying to emphasize too.

people wants to invest in legit ICO but they are too ignorant to assume that once it's legit, they will make profit.

Investing in ICO or crowdsale is good as long as you go with the legit ones, but you have to condition your mind that it's not for short term, mostly it's for long term that you have to wait until the project is developed to offer the best services or its used case to the public, and not only that, it's already necessary that the market will be bullish so the whole market will be appreciated, as of now, all eyes are on bitcoin and major altcoins, we need to change that for altcoins to progress.

Although it's been a long time but I do not think there is anything like legit ICO again ever since the coming of IEO, because comparing IEO and ICO, the difference between them is clear enough for someone to make the right investment decision or choice. Also, I have not heard of any ICO for a very long time now which indicates that they are gone and even if there should be one today, I do not think anyone who is fund security conscious will invest because the risk is too much.

The question should be if ICOs are still profitable and not if they are legit. I do not see any difference between ICOs that are in the market nowadays and ICOs that were here 1-2 years ago. The problem is that investors realize that ICOs are extremely risky and without the bull market the probability that they will earn is extremely low.  Cry Roll Eyes
Can we call it as a gambling? An investment place but like gambling. We will lose all our money when we invest in an ICO, it is different when we invest in some altcoin that already listed in some exchange. Because we can expect or we can trade the coin when the coin will decrease, most possibilities losing all money on this way have a small chance. But with an ICO, where we just spend money without we know that the project will be listed on some exchange or not. If we fail to predict this way correctly then we will lose all our money, it is more like gambling.

Funnily enough with the ugly trend experienced with ICO  since 2018  people still invest in ICO . but for me the level of loss i made from some scam ICO is still fresh on my mind . therefore i  cannot invest in ICO . Although IEO is not always very sure of yielding  but i prefer IEO that to ICO .

The only good thing that I am seeing with IEO is the assurance that their coin will be listed in the exchange after the sale.
But in terms of increasing its worth in the market, still depends on the development team.
Even if the IEO is handled by BNB, there's no assurance that they can be successful in the trading market.
They should work hard in the actual development of their products or services to ensure that people will continue to support their project.
Because most of the time, the development fades once the IEO is over.

With regards to ICO, very rare that a project will achieve success on this type of crowdsourcing.
As people are already burnt by so many crap projects. They don't want to invest anymore.
Unless, they have their private investors and can continue their developments even without raising their target funds.

We heard the news of IEO to be in place of ICO in order to curb the high rate of failure and scams in the development of altcoins projects in this year 2019. My surprise is that I still see series of projects claiming to be in ICOs. Doesn't that make them scam as we have seen in the same scenarios in the past?

If it is, I wonder why people still invest whether their time or monies in such projects which have high risk of loss or being scammed.

Not all new projects that do ICO are ugly because there are some that have constraints when going to IEO. To do an IEO on the exchanger, the team needs to pay money first to pay a fee and for new projects, this feels hard to do so they prefer to do ICO over IEO. IEO is also not a guarantee of success in achieving sales because there are many that are not successful.

How do you see ICOs in 2020?

What changed? What still needs to be fixed?
There was no a lot of things have already changed and I have also participated in solana ico and my impression is still the same. if that was a trusted project and there was no an important thing that must be fixed but just tries to avoid any suspicious ico is the best decision in my opinion.

People are tired of a lot of ICO scam projects and that is right there are a lot of projects and most of them are scams not legit. However, that doesn't mean every ICO projects are the same and all of them are a fraud. There are still some legit projects and as you above mentioned people who invest in ICO projects maybe he have made good research about this project and rely on this project.
Even there are some projects are legit, I guess no one from this community will be ready to believe into them by spending their hard earned money for any kind of ICO contribution. Because, all the people from this community must be too tired after encountering so much scams here. So, in my opinion there will be no point of talking about being legit about this ICO industry.

Almost each and every one of this community just has switched over to IEO because that is guaranteed by reputed exchanges. When you will be having safer hands for your investments then obviously you will be moving out. This is what exactly happened in this ICO platform.
