I think you are mistaken passion for addiction. To succeed in most things, you must be passionate about it as it is the passion that will be the motivation during down times. Even gambling requires this passion to succeed. A gambler without passion may be reluctant to person detailed analysis of the games to play and may be easily discouraged when things go against his expectations on few occasions. This passion must not be mistaken for addiction because the former can be controlled while the later controls the gambler.

Players must understand one important thing: you can't play forever. This, of course, can be done if you play with small bets, but this cannot continue indefinitely. This can be done if the player has a regular income and allows a small part of it in the form of entertainment in gambling, but most players will always want more and more. In reality we can be addicted, when the self-control wears off like a wedding ring. We then stop loving the activity the way we used to in the past, but have no escape route to divorce the activity, just like in most marriages. So, while gambling, we need to stay lingering with our thoughts, on the motives we got before joining the gambling niche. Whenever the fun no longer entices us, giving it a break works fine. And most successful gamblers whom I've come in contact with their work, does same thing. They don't skip their annual gambling vacation. Such things help us as gamblers to be on a better side of gambling, the player will have enough time to spend with family and friends. Which is also an antidote for any addictive symptoms, provided we don't gamble while on vacation, the player is safe and may not get addicted.

Basically there is no such thing as success in gambling, only luck with a much uncertain level. If someone is involved in gambling, it means they are considering the level of risk that results whether gambling is responsible or not. But the problem is when gambling is at the addiction stage because they can no longer control it, causing problems for the person concerned in considering stopping. So gamble when you have money and don't need to think about luck or success in it, at least if something happens we can accept the consequences.

Gambling has been going on for a long time since before we were born and there may be no way to limit gambling if every individual does not want to stop gambling.  Successful gambler and a gambling addict,  is not the same they two different thing.
An addict in gambling is some one who gambles excessively not minding their loss, they  will do anything just to gamble, they are never conscious in gambling, you will always see them at gambling centre or online gambling.
A successful gambler, this is of different phase . There are gamblers who understand well the type of game they gamble, well experienced, they follow up games very well,checks statistics, know how to accumulate games, predict few games, stake higher on few games because the chances of winning in few games is very high and not playing games that are too risky,  they don't mind winning big as long as they win always. Why there are gamblers that just there first stake they win big  because they know about the game but don't always play. Although gambling is a game of luck, but there are times that experience and understanding is also applicable. That's why it's good to gamble on what you usually relate to,  most people love sports betting because they know how teams perform, they games live.

True because no one can predict the outcome of gambling with any guarantee if one wins big gambling today he can double it tomorrow there is no guarantee you can lose it.  So gambling should never be taken seriously. That's right, all of that happens because there is absolutely no certainty or guarantee whatsoever in gambling, of course, as you said, even though we win now, it's not a real win because in the next gambling session it is possible that you will lose and all the money will be lost. If we work, we will see the results we will get, namely that we will get a salary after working, and the place we work will continue to provide that salary as long as we are still working at that workplace. While reading the OP at the very first day he posted it I didn't think of this but today when I was reading some lines about this discussion then it still hup into my mind again.
Although, what I will say might be different from what you guys might be say but I think it also correct.
If I should agree that all successful gamblers are addicts then what about those that just heard about gambling and have not experienced most dangerous moments in gambling (like losing a whole million boxes) but have won millions of dollars on their first or second try in gambling, does it means that they are also a gambler?
However, if I should answer this question, that means I would have to say no because they have not encounter some moisture (like your money gone) while gambling.
