Initially I thought that Indonesia would fall, they would not be able to qualify for the last 16 but in reality Indonesia managed to qualify and enter the last 16.
This is good news for all Indonesian people because the Indonesian national team can appear longer in the AFC Qatar Asian Cup competition. Many Indonesians have high hopes for the coach and also all Indonesian players.
But this will be even more difficult because the teams in the last 16 are quite strong team, Indonesia has to face many obstacles and the knockout rounds are really in front of the Indonesian national team eyes.
If you qualify for the top 8 round then this will be quite proud achievement, even though in the top 8 round Indonesia will fall or you could say it won't be able to advance to the semifinal round.
Being able to qualify for the top 8 is already an extraordinary achievement.

Indonesia has quite good young players overall but they don't have much experience and Indonesia still needs lot of experience to be able to win the AFC.

I see that Indonesia weakness is not only in terms of easily losing the ball, but the mentality and movement of players in building attacks needs to be improved. Very often Indonesian players make the wrong pass when carrying out an attack and the coordination between the players is chaotic so they often make mistakes in their own area which results in goals for the opposing team. Against Australia, Indonesia must avoid using high passes as little as possible because the Australian players are very physically tall, it is better to improve their passing with short passes and build attacks neatly. If it can be done well then I am sure Indonesia will be able to beat Australia.

From the start I did not overestimate Indonesia's strength and we know they are not the favorite team but if it's just to score goal I don't think it's difficult because in the last 3 matches Indonesia has always managed to score goal even against strong teams like Japan and Iraq, Australia is still at the same level as these two teams so I think there is still a chance to score. So far we can only assume and predict we have to wait for this match tomorrow to see the final result and of course hoping for a miracle for the Indonesian team.

Now luck is already done his job as Indonesia which was on verge of exit now having spot into round of the 16 and going to face Australia it's all about luck because their performance was not good enough to give them spot into this round now if they want to have anything positive then surely they need to be stronger and consistent which is not possible in just one or two days they needed to work hard for the better future in and having better results.

Australia is surely one of the best teams and Indonesia never won against them even I check they never score against them which is surely worst for them and with this most chances we will have another thrashing defeat for them like we have against Japan in last game of the group rounds.

Being able to qualify for the round of 16 as one of the best teams in third place in the group is quite a good achievement and beating Vietnam is the key to Indonesia's success advance to the knockout phase.
In the round of 16, Indonesia faces Australia, one of the favorite teams to win the Asian Cup after Japan, South Korea, and Iran, so there is not much hope that Indonesia will make a surprise in tomorrow's match.
Australia gets odds around @ 1.18 and Indonesia @ 15.00 looking at these odds it is clear that there is quite a big difference in strength and maybe Indonesia just needs to play calmer so they don't concede as many goals and try to keep the ball longer when in possession because in the previous few matches they were difficult did that except when played against Vietnam, whose strength was not much different.

Oh, so their target is only to reach round 16? not bad because Indonesia is not the favorite country in this tournament, just like you I hope there is a miracle there but I'm pretty sure Indonesia can score at least one goal so it's not a bad idea if we bet on both teams to score. I imagine that Indonesia can play a draw then through a penalty shootout well, here both countries have the same opportunities and rely on experience and luck, this match will start tomorrow and we are ready with all the support  nothing is impossible in a match, right?

This match will also show the game of two teams at different levels. Indonesian's weakness is that it is very easy to lose the ball. of course, this is due to pressure from the opponent which cannot be anticipated with fast play.
Even though they were not favorites, it was a surprise that Indonesian managed to qualify for the next round. if they can implement a fast game with one or two touches. and the strategy worked. maybe we will see another surprise in this match.
The Indonesian coach must realize that the same tactics when facing Japan or Iraq will not work against Australia.

Indeed, historically, Indonesian matches have not won much and have only been able to draw in several periods. But remember Australia is still below Japan. Physically maybe Australia is better. So there is still a lot of hope that Indonesia can make a surprise.  Maybe they should learn how to protect the ball when it gets tight pressing. Because Indonesia always struggles when it gets such an opponent. Even they failed to make a one-touch pass, it made Indonesia not much able to make attacks from below.

I don't think really superior with Australia team performance in AFC Asian Cup, still unbeaten of three matches group phase but Australia in easily opponent teams from India, Uzbekistan and Syiria. I believe have miracle with Indonesia team make surprise against Australia on 16 of round and another history break after first time success qualify to 16 round and not close make first time qualify to quarter final round.

In easily group stage, Australia just scored 4 goals not difference with Indonesia scored 3 goals, I don't think problem for Indonesia defense how to stop Australia attacking line make many goals. I am optimistic with Indonesia team has potential will qualify to quarter final and seems easy opponent team in quarter final.

Even though it's not easy, I'm still pessimistic that the Indonesian national team will be able to put a lot of pressure on the Australian national team, but Australia is a tough team, in GROUP B Australia has not been defeated at all while Indonesia has lost 2 times (losing 3-1 to Iraq and 3-1 from Japan)

Tomorrow there is also a match between Tajikistan vs UAE, if we look at the standings table, both teams are equally in 2nd place in each group they are in, I feel the result of this match is a draw.

It's natural because Australia is superior in all aspects, so it's not surprising that many predict Indonesia will lose by a margin of more than two goals. because Australia is a strong team, but not as strong as Japan. However, Australia's physicality and stamina are also better than Indonesia's, so it would take a miracle to beat Australia.

However, as an Indonesian citizen, I also still hope that there will be a miracle for Indonesia, because I believe that in football nothing is impossible. Especially for Indonesia, this match is not a burden for them because now their target of entering the last 16 has been achieved, and they have made new history by being able to qualify for the last 16 for the first time. In this way, their enthusiasm and mentality will continue to burn, so I also want to bet and choose Indonesia with a +2 Handicap because the atmosphere in the round of 16 matches will definitely be different.

I don't mean to belittle my own national team, but qualifying for the next phase will be very difficult for Indonesia. tomorrow, Indonesia will play a match against Australia. this match is a Knockout match, only one leg. which means, this match is life and death for Indonesia. for Palestine, Syria and Jordan, I have not followed the development or researched it.
so, I focused more on the Indonesia vs Australia match. referring to the betting market, there is a very significant gap between these two teams. Indonesia with @15.00, while Australia with @1.18. in theory, Australia will win this match easily..referring to asian betting options, Australia is 3 goals ahead with @1.91. what is clear is that this match will be very memorable for Indonesia and Australia. Win or lose, the Garuda squad will do their job hard for the sake of the flag and name of the country they support.

Honestly, I don't expect much from this match. however, as Indonesian supporters, we will fully support our national team in this match. I can confirm that almost the majority of Indonesian people will watch this match on local television. I hope that at least there will be resistance from Indonesia, and that the coach will be able to improve the mentality and performance of the Garuda team even though this match is a very difficult match for them to win. at least with Indonesia qualifying for the round of 16, football in our national team has experienced a slight improvement. and, there are no other words other than I look forward to this match being held.

Almost all of us will think the same thing Australia has more ability and based on Head to Head Australia more often wins but don't forget that luck can side with anyone including Indonesia especially now we know that Indonesia has a strong mentality who can surprise anyone.  Currently we can check the betting market for this match, Australia is predicted by bookies to beat Indonesia with a difference of 2 goals and I will go with Indonesia +2 I think nothing can be underestimated while in round 16.

About Indonesia, I am also happy they are able to qualify for the round of 16 because they need this booster hopefully now things could be better and improved in coming years about their quality and consistency because they need to work on this if they want to have better results at the top level. In this year we have few interesting changes with few teams are doing good performance and have fair chance to win but still things are not good for the few teams which were dominating Asian region for last few decades, hopefully this qualifies change will be positive, and their consistency could be also at the better level in coming years because we need them to be at better level for having more fans and better intention of the soccer in this region.

I saw Indonesia playing and when we compare them to Australia then I find Australia better and I am almost sure they will pass to the Quarter-final.
For Thailand, they qualified because their group is average, to not say bad. Their game in the Round of 16 will be against Uzbekistan so I suppose they might get a chance even though their record isn't that good face to face. Anyway facing Qatar will be the end of their journey whether it is Uzbekistan or Thailand playing against them.

In theory, even a draw will be hard to achieve for Indonesia, but this is football and anything can happen such as the results from group E and F yesterday.
Indonesia must strengthen the defense with hope our national team able to score from counter attack or force the game to a penalty shootout.

This is the first time ever for our national team to enter the round of 16, they better do their best tomorrow.
The whole nation will go crazy if they able to beat Australia tomorrow.

Actually, it would be better for strong teams to fight each other in round 16 thus opening up opportunities for teams that are not favorites to qualify to the next round, Saudi Arabia and South Korea are among the favorite teams but one of them has to be eliminated well, the winner between Indonesia and Australia can take advantage there. Of all teams in round 16 I think Qatar is the luckiest team because the opponents were weaker until the semi-finals and I think Iran or Japan will be waiting for them in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile in the right corner the competition is tighter because most of the favorite teams are there Australia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Iraq we know these countries always dominate the final matches. On the other hand, Indonesia's chances of going further are very small unfortunately Indonesia has to fight against these favorite countries, Indonesia really needs luck to win. How far do you think Indonesia can go to the next round? will they be kicked out early?

Indonesia have to says thanks to Kyrgyzstan because the draw which they got against Oman has made Indonesia qualify for the round of 16 and for Indonesia this is new history for them because they have never done this before and during participant at Asian Cup usually Indonesia always be failed at group stages they even several times to finish at the bottom of group standings and against Australia at round of 16 indeed their chance to win this match is very slim because Australia is strong team and Indonesia records was so bad because from 15 meetings Indonesia only get 1 win and they were conceded 32 goals from Australia so this is very hard match for Indonesia

And for Thailand compared to Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia i have to says they are the best Southeast Asia team in this competition because during group stages Thailand was very impressive and yesterday i have been watching their match against Saudi Arabia and Thailand was playing with very discipline which make Saudi Arabia have to satisfied to share points with them and besides that Thailand was qualified with cleansheet status and this is good achievement from them and at round of 16 Thailand will fight against strong team Uzbekistan and let's see if Thailand can surprise us by beating Uzbekistan or their journey have to stopped at round of 16

I thought Indonesia would return home sooner from the Asian Cup event, but luck was still on Indonesia's side, including Palestine, Syria and Jordan.
Congratulations to the 16 teams who will continue their matches in the round of 16.
For other teams that did not qualify, don't be pessimistic and be optimistic that the next Asian Cup can be better.

The Saudi Arabia vs South Korea match is not the match I expected to take place in the round of 16. I also hope that the Bahrain vs Japan match doesn't happen so quickly because in my opinion these two matches would be very good matches if they met in the top 8 round.

Australia should not underestimate Indonesia. Indonesia's mistakes could surprise Australia in the round of 16.

Does Australia play that well in this tournament? I recall they can only score 1 goal per match, except against the Indian national team. Not saying they're at the same level as Indonesia, but Indonesia should have a decent chance at getting a goal or so against Australia. I don't think their aim is to win against Australia either since the target for Indonesia, as far as I can remember, is going into the knock-out round which they already achieved now. At the very least they should use this match to prepare for the World Cup qualification or other tournaments in the future.

Surprisingly some people accuse South Korea of playing terribly because they want to avoid Japan. This obviously assumes that Malaysia is not doing anything, which is untrue. I wonder what makes Malaysia play better when they have nothing to fight for though. Maybe the lack of pressure allows them to perform at their best against South Korea, who knows? CMIIW.
