Group E;
1. Jordan, point 4
2. South Korea, point 4
Group E cannot yet confirm who will qualify because Jordan, South Korea and Bahrain still have a chance to qualify in their third match.
Jordan will play Bahrain and South Korea will play Malaysia. The Jordan vs Bahrain match will be the deciding match. Jordan and Bahrain will work hard to get a win. If Jordan draws and South Korea wins, South Korea will win the group with 7 points.

Bahrain itself still has a chance to qualify if they can beat Jordan. If Bahrain wins against Jordan, then second place will belong to Bahrain and they will qualify for the next round.

The Indonesian team has given their best against Japan, the majority of which are stronger than Indonesia. I am proud of the efforts made by everyone involved in the Indonesian team at the Asian Cup in Qatar which managed to finish in third place. If I'm not mistaken, Indonesia still has a chance to qualify depending on the results obtained by the matches of other teams from different groups, namely Kyrgyzstan and the Jordan match.

However and whatever the results, we are quite satisfied and quite proud of the hard work of the players, coaches and the entire official team.
Indonesia's future opportunities will be brighter if STY can stay as Indonesia's coach.
I am not really proud with Indonesian team performance last match against Japan, never blame with the strong name of Japan due their AFC Cup match result losses from Iraq and Vietnam success scored 2 goals against Japan. Losses from Japan make Indonesia get difficult for getting the best 3rd standings position for qualifying to the next round. Indonesian have waiting on other team match result to know will qualify or not from Jordan vs Bahrain where this match result have win by Jordan above three goals and another match Oman vs Kyrgyzstan have draw for this match or Kyrgyzstan win without two difference goals.

Actually Indonesian team dominance by naturalized player but most of them have poor performance, wish Indonesia have second chance for qualifying to the 16 of round waiting other teams match result.

The teams ranked 1st and 2nd in Groups A, B, C, D, E have certainly passed the group stage. Just waiting for the results of the Group F match to find out who will qualify apart from Saudi Arabia who already have 6 points.

Is there still someone in third place who has the potential to qualify?

There will be 4 spots to qualify into the next round for the best finishers among 3rd place teams.
Syria and Palestine have been confirmed taken the 2 spots, Thailand will take 1 spot (if Arab Saudi beat them tomorrow and Oman win against Kyrgyzstan).

The last ticket will be decided by tomorrow games:
Oman: they must beat Kyrgyzstan to qualify and they will be qualify as the 2nd or 3rd place of the group (its up to Arab vs Thailand match)
Kyrgyzstan: they must beat Oman with many goals.
Bahrain: they must win or draw against Jordan or lose but with only 1 goal difference
Indonesia: they will be qualify if Jordan win more than 2 goals against Bahrain.

I thought that if Japan didn't get a penalty and Justin Hubner didn't score an own goal, then the final result would probably be a draw and that would protect Indonesia's chances of qualifying as the best 3rd place team. However, in terms of player quality, Japan and Indonesia are very far apart and it can be seen that when Japan holds the ball, their passing is always smooth, while when Indonesia passes, they always lose the ball due to lack of control.

In this match, Japan's interceptions and preasure were also extraordinary, but unfortunately they often had to commit fouls when Indonesian players carried the ball. I think this defeat is still not too bad for Indonesia and at least in the final minute they were able to shorten the score through Sandy Walsh's goal which utilized a throw-in scheme from Pratama Arhan.

I see that Indonesia is still inferior in every way. Japan played amazingly, penalties and own goals are weaknesses that Indonesia has and successfully utilized by Japan. So the conclusion is that Indonesia still has to continue to learn and process. Indonesia's attack build up is not easy. Honestly, Indonesian players cannot hold the ball for long. There is tight presing by Japanese players. I think in the end it was the ability to protect the ball, Indonesia's one touch technique failed miserably.

But I am very happy to see the development of Indonesia. They are young players who have a long way to go. I'm glad Indonesia finally scored a goal, at least they were able to do it in the last minute.  Now I will just watch the Oman vs Kyrgyzstan match and hope for a miracle.
That's right, Indonesia must move through the process and must not give up even if they fail to advance to the next round. It is clear that Indonesia is having difficulty protecting the ball and there are no players in the squad who can maintain the tempo of the game. His touch felt very weak and he often couldn't hold on to the ball for longer.

Indonesia is currently mostly filled with naturalized players and they are indeed very young to be in a competition as big as the Asian Cup and perhaps this experience against Japan can be extra capital in the future and their mental state should not decline due to this quite crushing defeat. Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong and reportedly if the Kyrgyzstan vs Oman match ends in a draw or Kyrgyzstan wins with a score of 1-0 or 2-1 then Indonesia has a chance to qualify for the last 16 of the Asian Cup.

Indonesia still have chance to advance to the next round.

Indonesia will advance to the the next round if the match between Oman and Kyrgyzstan ends in a draw or Kyrgyzstan win the match 1-0 or 2-1.
Indonesia will advance to the next round if Jordan win Bahrain 2-0 or by three goals difference.

Forgot about this part, mate. Yes, Indonesia can still qualify for the next round, but that chance is very small, that's the reason why I say that Indonesia is finished here. We even have speculation about several matches before Japan meets Indonesia, one of which is the Hong Kong - Palestine match, but what? that's just idle speculation.

Yeah the chance is very slim or I can say almost zero, due to the Kyrgyzstan vs Oman match.
Oman is stronger and they still has a chance to qualify if they win against Kyrgyzstan while Arab Saudi beat Thailand.
With the scenario above, Thailand will be qualify into the next round, not Indonesia.

Edit: After re-check the group standing, Indonesia will be qualify if Jordan able to beat Bahrain with more than 2 goals.
Also we can considered the match between Kyrgyzstan vs Oman will not have any impact because it will be impossible for Kyrgyzstan to beat Oman with more than 3 goals.
There are 2 spots left for 3rd place teams, and Oman or Thailand already secure that spot.
So, the last spot will be taken by Indonesia or Bahrain.

Indonesia played very well, it's just that Japan is at a very different level now so it's very difficult to take into consideration that we have great expectations in this match because the result is known from the beginning.

You're right, mate. This result isn't a good result, but it's also not bad considering that Japan even beat Germany and Peru with more goals (in friendly match).

I think as an Indonesian maybe there is no need to feel disappointed with the unsatisfactory results, especially because they didn't qualify, Japan is currently not the right opponent for Indonesia, but I believe that Indonesia in the next few years will be even better and more advanced, I I also hope there is no need for a change of coach because it is necessary for STY to continue developing the current players who in my opinion have performed well and played optimally in today's match.

Losing to Japan was quite painful, but at least the Indonesian people can be proud because the Indonesian national team was able to put up a tough fight against the Japan national team,Japan which fielded most of its players who played in the European league,  of course was no match for Indonesia, but at least the Indonesian national team was able to live up to this name Indonesia in the Asian football arena, I think the Indonesian people need to be proud even though the opportunity for Indonesia to qualify for the round of 16 is very small at the moment, btw for those who don't know, actually even though they lost against Japan, Indonesia still has a chance of qualifying for the round of 16 even though the possibility is small via the 3rd best ranking, as Indonesian citizens we are grateful to Shin Tae-yong who has been able to improve the performance and quality of the national team game which has become better than right several years ago.

Even though Indonesia lost for me, it was a start to make this team stronger in the future, it still needs a lot of experience to be successful in becoming the greatest team in the future, everything needs a very long process, it's not that easy to build strength on the field between naturalized players and local players become a strong team, I believe all this process will produce good results in the next few years, it cannot be a quick process to become a great team because it will not be possible and it is impossible to change this far. I hope all supporters will continue to support Indonesia whenever that happens.

The final results are out, and Indonesia must be satisfied with the result of Japan 3 - 1 Indonesia. I'm not surprised to see this result considering that Japan must win or draw in this match so that they can safely advance to the elimination round.

Also remember that the bookies are only giving @1.03 for Japan to win, so this is a reasonable and realistic result.

We can't expect much from Indonesia in this case even though in this match they were underdogs but facing the power of Japan with a very different level in terms of player quality actually a score like this is not too bad in my opinion because even looking at the pre-match opportunities actually when facing Japan this is the same as when Indonesia faced Iraq before but honestly with this result I am still very satisfied with the results given because scoring 1 goal against Japan which includes Endo, Tomiyasu and Kubo (although at the time of the goal Tomiyasu and Kubo were not on the field) in my opinion it is very worthy of praise for Indonesia.

Indonesia lost in the first half with 1 penalty goal from Japan. IMO, this was an achievement for the Garuda team, because if we look at the match statistics, Japan should have been ahead by at least 2 or 3 goals. There were lots of good opportunities for Japan there, but they failed to convert them into goals.

If the final result is anything like the current result, I think the handicap bettors will have their day.

On the other hand, Vietnam managed to take a lead in the first half against Iraq, but whatever the result, they actually played a futile game.
Indonesia in the first half was indeed able to maintain their defense tightly. So the Japanese national team players also had difficulty approaching the Indonesian penalty box area. But now in the second half I saw that Japan's dominance was getting better. And Japan also managed to score another goal by Ayase Ueda in the 52nd minute.

From here it is probably certain that Indonesia will lose and maybe even Japan will increase their lead again by scoring 1 goal or 2 more goals.

Meanwhile, for the Vietnam vs Iraq match, Vietnam actually played quite well in the first half. It's just that the red card at the end of the first half weakened Vietnam. So it is not surprising that Iraq was able to equalize quickly within 2 minutes of the second half. So the score is still 1-1 for the current Iraq vs Vietnam match.

Japan achieved victory against Vietnam, but they had a hard time. They were surprisingly defeated in the Iraq match. A draw for Japan against Indonesia will be enough for the top two places, but they need to win for confidence. Confidence was high before the start of the tournament because of their form and the quality of their squad, but they are not yet at a satisfactory level. Indonesia, on the other hand, beat Vietnam, whose strength level is close to theirs, but they could not resist Iraq, whose quality is higher. Indonesia has the same points as Japan in the group but lags behind in terms of quality. I would say that Japan is a much better team than Indonesia. I expect a fast start from Japan in the first half and Japan will be the dominant side in the match.
Now the first round has ended and it seems that it is quite difficult for Indonesia to keep up with Japan. And I'm here to support Indonesia even though I also realize that the level difference between the two teams is clearly very different. Japan is the best national team ranked 17th in the world, in contrast to Indonesia which is not even in the top 100.

The first half ended with 1-0. But it was quite surprising because Japan also had difficulty penetrating Indonesia's defense in this match. And 1 goal was scored because of a penalty. So in my opinion there is still an opportunity for Indonesia. but Japan might be able to dominate more in the second half. But the Indonesian national team coach, STY, will also definitely change his strategy for the second half. And I think Indonesia will try to get out of the pressure. Indonesia only needs a draw in this match. But logically, Indonesia could lose to Japan. Because even in the first half, Indonesia was completely unable to mount a good attack on the Japanese defense line.  Sad

I just vote for Indonesia because it is simply my home country  Grin and after that, I saw the result, and 14 people voted for Indonesia already  Cheesy.

and according to the news

"The victory over Vietnam is only Indonesia’s third win at the AFC Asian Cup, with the other two coming against Bahrain (2-1 in 2007) and Qatar (2-1 in 2004) as well as being only the second time they have managed to keep a clean sheet in the continental showpiece." - https://thepeninsulaqatar.com/article/21/01/2024/young-indonesia-live-up-to-shins-expectations-1 it very long ago Indonesia don't show it face hehehhe

But it will be hard after the vietnam we must face japan and tbh it gonna be hard  Grin

Yes, Indonesia failed and was sad because it was defeated by Iraq, but after winning against Vietnam, Indonesia's sadness has now been healed and healed.

The match against Japan is of course a tough match for Indonesia because Japan is a strong team, and when Japan played against Vietnam, Japan successfully won the match with a score of 4-2 and this is proof that Japan is a strong team because they managed to beat Vietnam.

and today Indonesia will compete against Japan, I think the Indonesian fans must be ready to watch the match between Indonesia and Japan, I hope the match goes smoothly. I think Shin Tae-yong now has a tough task because Japan is a strong opponent for Indonesia. I hope Shin Tae-yong can make a good formation and I think Indonesia must also be able to take advantage of opportunities when the ball is close to the Japanese goal. However, I am sure that the Indonesian national team will appear confident in the match against Japan.

The Indonesian national team will play its final match in Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup against the Japanese national team and this will be a life and death match for Indonesia. This match will be exciting because both countries need points to ensure they qualify for the round of 16, and I will not miss this match because it will definitely be exciting to watch.
And both teams are guaranteed to field their best squad, Japan seems to be the favorite because Japan is categorized as the strongest country in the 2023 Asian Cup. However, it looks like Indonesia will also try to balance the game and also strengthen its defense and make good use of counter-attack opportunities.
