I agree with you there is no doubt recently Indonesia done some significant progress in soccer, and now they are doing good development for improving their quality but still it's not easy for them to win this Asian Cup because there are too many good teams with much better quality and skilled players.
Many has good experience of playing in different top leagues which is helping them for having some positive improvement in game and Indonesia is having good squad but still it's not near as few countries for challenging them if they can do this consistently then surely in near future they could be able to win this trophy but right now in 2023 its not looking better chance for them to win this trophy from few giants of Asian Soccer.
As an Indonesian and Football fans, I think the chance of they doing it consistently in long term is very small

, the team performance are very dependent on how the local competition going, and quality of the competition depend on how the federation handle it. And there are a lot of corruption in the federation and in the competition in the past years, we have a good year in 2017 with Luis Milla but in only 1 year the federation kick him off, for some absurd reasons.
Even though Indonesia has made changes but still, if the Indonesian squad is still full of local Indonesian players, it will still be difficult to win the title. Because one of the right ways for Indonesia to be stronger is to increase the number of naturalized players in the squad, even though Indonesia's poll is superior but he puts Indonesia at the bottom and the results of the poll still have no definite guarantee. So yes, I personally look at this Indonesian team even though they have been trained by great coaches but it will still be difficult to penetrate the final match in this tournament.
The local players will not be a problem if we have good league tho, but I agree that for now the best option is to find player who plays overseas, with better league and competition.
