In that case you might also want to look at the speculation and alt-currency boards.

Thanks, I might do so!

BTW, why do you have a photo of me as your avatar?

Lol, do we look alike? Because that's me.
(or maybe is this some sort of joke? mmmh...)

No, that was my cousin's wedding in 2009.

well this isn't creepy at all.

Does anyone know who the owner of these charts is?

I know!  Cheesy

Using the pictures (or links) is of course no problem. (Mentioning my name would be appreciated)

Since it's about 35? pages ago since they've been posted:

*Click on them for al full-screen interactive version.

Because this type of chart makes it easy to filter per month/week/day: (Use 'Zoom' in the left upper corner or drag the bottom line to the right)

I'd like to embed them somewhere and I want to make sure it's ok with them.

No, it wasn't. It looks a lot like it though. Almost as if you attempted to recreate it in tableau. Hmmmm Smiley

Maybe this is a noob question, but why there is a 242-pages thread about ASICMINER, instead of a dedicated sub-forum?

Because the vast majority of it is gossip and backslapping.

But it would be a good thing to have a whole forum dedicated to asicminer. Noobquestions can get their own thread, discussions are more often done in own threads and friedcat maybe gets his real announcement thread...

John (+Theymos et al), MAKE THIS HAPPEN! I'm sure there would have to be some sort of agreement and etc.

But even gossip would benefit from having specific threads for every piece of news that may sparkle discussions...

Edit: I was wrong, it was late and I was stupid, so instead: BTW, have you been my doppelganger?

Markup of 5500% would even make Apple blush. It's like BFL being able to make a Jalapeno for $4.98.

I just have to ask one question, is it still costing ASICMiner 10k USD to add 1Th/s?  that means each of them would need to be 1,000,000mh/s/10750mh/s = 93 Blades, 10,000USD /93blades = 107$ a piece

Yeah, that would work if you could slice costs in blades like that.

Also, cost is not price. ASICMiner would be absolutely retarded to sell something for 100$ when people are willing to pay 50 times that at great demand.

Its like with apple... the production doesnt cost much, but because there are enough people that love apple and want to pay much for it... why selling for lower...

Sounds about right: 130nm silicon isn't expensive (the node was developed way back in 2002!)

OK, had my info about that wrong; thought it was Jan 2017. Thank you for the correction.

Linux since 1997 RedHat 4
Reward halving is still quite a way off but miners will have to be ready for it. I expect transaction fees will be much more significant then, but it's really crystal ball gazing at the moment. They'd have to pick up a lot to compensate from where they are today (about 1% of the reward).

Surely Bitcoin will either be dust (unlikely) or ready for prime-time by 2017? Tx fees at 16x seems too modest, that's only 100% annual growth.

2016 you mean. ...isn't it?
Yes - it's based on 10min per block for a fraction under 4 years (210,000 blocks)
However this ASIC difficulty ramp up (if it isn't reversed) will make it faster.
Last one was end of Nov 2012, so next will most likely be some time Nov or earlier in 2016.
