I2C is actually pretty common - but normally used for internal communication on motherboards to certain low-bandwidth devices like temp sensors.

 VERY odd choice.

I have an Avalon Nano 3 usb asic miner

The instructions for windows tell me to download a driver.
LPCXpresso Link2 USB driver package

But I have Fedora Linux
Do I need some driver or kernel module for the Avalon stick?
Isnt it supposed to show up as /dev/ttyUSB* ?
I can only see it in /dev/bus/usb/005/023

(i'm trying to use bfgminer)
bfgminer -S ICA:/dev/char/tty* -o stratum+tcp://127.0.0.1:9332 -O userxxx:passxxx --set-device ICA:baud=115200 --set-device ICA:reopen=timeout --set-device ICA:work_division=1 --set-device ICA:fpga_count=1 --set-device ICA:probe_timeout=100 --set-device ICA:timing=0.22 --api-listen
As I try to connect bfgminer i get:
[2015-11-22 14:17:14] /dev/bus/usb/005/013: tcgetattr failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
[2015-11-22 14:17:14] /dev/bus/usb/005/013: tcflush failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device

Again: is it correct to try to connect to the usb asic from the /dev/bus/usb/* directory structure?

Is there any specific usb to uart converter requirement needed or will any do?

They supply one, and it doesn't look like anything I've used - they say communications are I2C, so it my guess is it's something less common.  The actual cables look like PC CD audio cables, so those should be easy enough to source.
Thanks.  Looking to buy a used 4.1 but it's missing the uart to usb adapter.

I just want to know if there are going to be chip sales and if I'm going to be able to play with my own design based on this chips.
No answer from avalon team for the last 7 days.
No answer on their official site too.
looks like the same behaviour Bitmain and bitfury

I emailed the guys a few days ago, they said they have not got it on the plans for the next 4 months.

After suffering through the great Avalon Chip Disaster of 2013 I will never buy another Avalon product, period. I know Yifu or whatever his name was is no longer in charge or whatever but they really screwed a lot of people over back then and I was one of the ones who got F'ed hard.

If you weren't around back then let me just say the short story is that they claimed that the "Chinese Mafia" stole everybody's chips (millions and millions of dollars of carefully arranged group buys) and whoops, sorry, they're gone. We all knew that they just kept the chips for themselves as well as the money too. I wouldn't trust them to deliver chips again.  Tongue

Not that you have a lot of control over the pricing, since you want to make enough money to stay in business, but the Avalon 6 is STILL way too high.

On the other hand, so is the S7.

Any solid news on the B-Eleven yet?

It looks to me like zoomhash and kilo17 had their orders delay and or poached .

WELL  I hope someone gets one .  I am tired of the games.  That the builders and merchants do to the buyers.

Phil! Long time not see. You know us. We do not play games. All orders were shipped and all tracking shows movement.

We even included a free Rpi for all Batch 1 orders. Just because.

Anyways, for everyone that has a problem. quote me here and ill investigate.

You sold more the 4k worth of gear to me and gave me good service in 2014 mostly gridseed blades.

I hope you can do so for others with this gear.

It is the only reason why we are still around.

Where is that thumbs up button!!!

I just redid everything to make the pricing more fair. Now you have a choice of having a Rpi or not:

the feeling i got was that they prefer only to sell in bulk to farms and these small 5,10,15 orders are a waste of their time. I asked about a discount on 10 and was told they would knock $150 off (of their already overpriced) shipping, or 1% discount.

Being a home miner I only order in small numbers.  I had no issues with ordering and paying for 2 units from ZoomHash.  I have asked and received a free shipping coupon in the past.  I'm sorry, but as far as I'm concerned ZoomHash is a top notch company to deal with.  Like with everything, I have had issues, but they have gone out of their way to make it right.
