So whats a realistic date to expect my avalon? I ordered and paid 2/3. My guess is mid to late june if they still don't have the SMT machines up and I'm not a trade in customer.

So are these just the developer orders ahead of the trade-ins? It doesn't look like it.

I think because the price is so much higher and the likelihood of getting ROI is so much lower for the regular Batch #2 orders, they are going back on their promise of doing the trade-ins first. This is not honoring their word, but is probably more "fair".

The whole premise of trading in the Icarus was based on the idea we'd get the Avalons soon after sending in the Icarus, though. Not that I'm too upset, it seems like the guys that paid upwards of 50-60 BTC on February 2nd (Batch #2 part 1) and 16th (part 2) do deserve to have theirs shipped first (hell, even I have some orders in that timeframe as well), but again, at the time I ordered I was under the impression that I was doing a trade-in order whereby the details would be worked out afterward, so now I still have little to no idea what is going on or how "special" I actually am. Smiley

I do know that I am missing a few BTC that my Icarus weren't able to mine the last three weeks or so since they were in operation, however. I have to imagine there are some guys who did 0 Batch #2 regular orders but sent in 10-15 Icarus that are going to be quite upset about this. My condolences in advance to those in such a predicament.

Doesn't seem like there's a way they can both honor their word to the trade-ins and remain fair to those early batch #2 orders here, and they sided on the "being fair" end. I don't fault them, I just wish they had communicated this to the community first.

Yifu, stated that tradein and regular orders have separate queues, so, in my understanding, the priority handling means tradein will be shipping at the same time as regular costumers. Like in parallel lines. If this is the case, its fair and honors the old costumers without screwing with the new ones, but in this scenario only the lucky ones from the random pick for the 20 units can be considered special.

I wonder if those guys sent in 10-15 FPGA units realized that each 1 Icarus/Lancelot is only eligible trade-in for only 1 Avalon ASIC unit? So those who sent 10 FPGA rigs should be ready to pay for 10 Avalons (NN BTC each) to get trade-ins done.

I am not sure if all 600 were sold for B2 (I haven't seen any confirmation, but I guess we can assume it was fully floated).
There is also the trade-in batches, which are an unknown quantity.
I think I read that all 600 B3s were sold.

My guess -- if chips ship before batch 4 orders are opened... there won't be much interest in a fourth batch.  I don't think there has been any limits stated on chip orders other than they are planning on taking orders through the end 2013.

Today, almost no news about orders?
Avalon has thrown a bone and decided to remain silent on?
 Huh

How many orders batch [2] were eventually accepted ?

600 for batch #2 600 for batch #3 and they are looking to do batch 4 with smaller modual's that are around 45GH or their about.

They were mining with some, they told this before.

So roughly they mined over 12k BTC since these machines were produced and still can't afford to hire an admin guy to sort out their ordering system backlog or deal with tickets?

Yifu your google phone mailbox is full, just saying.

edit: Alright, no surprises: 20 units are out, testing the new shipping techniques to avoid damage on packages, expect to hear the next news from San Francisco, trade ins are a in differente queue, they are still working on production line but, whatever that means, they will get priority handling. Soon costumers will be asked to pay.

The machines are lightning fast but, god, they know how to create a delay. Godspeed in this last mile.

You reached him?
Still working on the production line is bad news. Can take forever.
So they 20 units have been produced externally or are from batch 1 and have been mining for them so far?

Not a trade in, but had problems with payment and needed a support ticket. That's probably why my order number is out of sequence. Maybe they are processing on time of payment ? I did pay the evening (CET) of the 2nd of feb IIRC.
I checked the time I paid: 2013-02-02 at 22:23:39 according to the blockchain.

hmm, i paid 7 hours before. my order isn't in the store yet...
GitSyncom did make it quite clear that the order they were paid in had little to do with the shipping order.
So take that into consideration.

He did however say that if you were special you'd get one of the early shipment. I'm starting to feel much less special. Bitsyncom, you said I'd always be special to you! Where did our love go wrong?  Cry
Well ... you offered to give me access to yours when you got it - so that's gotta count as a major strike against you in his eyes.
Hopefully the box wont be empty ... Cheesy

Yeah, but that was a private PM .... or it was. kano, you're a housewrecker. How could you turn Bitsyncom against me like that? We were supposed to grow old together.
I aught to put you up against a wall with a firing squad for saying that.

I thought I had accidentally done what you said!
(and spent time checking to see if I had so as to delete my post if it was true)

Damn you! Cheesy

In hindsight, I wish there was some way to push the issue of how time sensitive this is.  I have no doubt that the folks at Avalon are working very quickly, but incentivizing can help.  I wish I had enough clout to issue a standing challenge like:

"Avalon,

if you deliver in 2 weeks I'll donate 3x what my miners can make in a day
if you deliver in 3 weeks I'll donate 2x what my miners can make in a day
if you deliver in 4 weeks I'll donate 1x what my miners can make in a day
if you deliver in 5 weeks I'll donate 0.5x what my miners can make in a day
if it takes you 6+ weeks to deliver you get nothing."

Now of course all of this is moot if you think they're just sitting on the miners and using them, but it's hard to disguise 31 TH/s of power on the network.  I don't think they are to the extent that some would claim.
