Lionel Messi is indeed the best player in the world right now, but to be honest I personally think that this year Lionel Messi doesn't deserve the Ballon d'Or because his performances at PSG have not shown his prowess as the best player in the world at the moment, I think actually Lewandowski is a player who is more deserving of the Ballon d'Or, because so far he has played quite consistently in the league and has also been able to lift the performance of Bayern Munich to a fairly high level.

Majority of soccer fans across the world opinions is that
Lewandowski deserve the award, how come 180 Journalist elected Messi, on what criteria? is this decision not a biased? is it because of being the best player in COPA America? I don't understand how he deserve this award, his form had dipped from last season till now and still struggling to find his feet with PSG in french league 1, while Lewandowski had been performing excellently for Bayern Munich for two seasons though Poland his home country had not done well in European tournament meanwhile Poland qualify for a play off in world cup qualifying match

I don't know if it is deserved this is controversial he is indeed the player with more quality in the world but other players got probably a better year.

If the purpose is to award the best player overall there is no doubt but if the purpose is to award the year of the player then we can have a lot of doubts.

It kinda feels like Lewandowski can do what he wants and he still won't get the ballon d'or, i feel really sad for him. It somehow seems that the two biggest names of football (Messi and Ronaldo) always have an advantage over the other players. The election is done by journalists from all over the world and i would guess that journalists from small african or asian countries would always tend to give their vote for Ronaldo or Messi because they are just more popular in their countries and players like Lewandowski are probably still pretty unknown there. Even Messi himself said that he thinks that Lewandowski would have deserved it. Fairplay of him.

Robert Lewandowski should keep playing good, his time will come, also Jorginho. To say the truth, they are both good player. I have posted on this thread to choose Lewandowski before because I wish him to win it and he truly deserves it. But I can not hide the fact that I am Messi's fan but I was surprised he won 2021 ballon d'or, all I was expecting was Lewandowski first and Messi second. But it was still a good news for me though.

@LTU_btc I don’t feel they’ll ever give it to Lewandowski, because no matter what he does it’ll never be enough for him to win it, but Messi feels that Lewandowski deserves to win it so hopefully next season he may finally gets his hand on it.

Also Ronaldo has hit back at Pascal Ferré and he has claimed that he’s okay even if he didn’t win it, but for some weird reason I feel that he’s hurting from the inside anyone else feels the same?.

Didn't pay attention to this topic but it is kinda late tho..
Honestly I don't see why Messi got this award while performing lately like 50% (or less) of what he used to do in the previous years... Keeping the reward between 2 names is unfair for the others that work hard and make their teams better. Personally I find players from Lewandowski to Benzema performing better than Messi... Anyway, congratulations to him and good luck for the others once Messi retire.

Have not seen a perfect striker like lewandowski he is so complete, he had a great season but for me I think Lionel Messi deserve it more, he is truly a GOAT of our time, what he did for Argentina with that kind of performance you surely knows that he is getting another ballon d' or, would have loved lewandowski to have won this award but there is Messi and there is nothing one can do about it.

Compared to Messi, I agree more with Lewandoski who got this trophy. Even though he led Argentina to the Copa America win, Barca's performance was very bad when he was still there
