Wow somebody really hates you guys  Cheesy

I guess that means you're doing something right.

Yep.  These people are spending money or resources on DOSing BPIP instead of doing something they would enjoy.  When you think about it,  DOSing is a compliment.

Suchmoon, in the interim you could create a static front page and refresh it every min or so.   Call it the BPIP Appreciation Event!  Serving a static page will push the abuse to the internet cache network, and barely affect your server.

Should be ok now, at least for a while until the DDOSing asshole figures out a way to bypass the blacklists.

Sorry about the issues.

Bump.

Is there something bad happen to the service? or just a normal temp under development?

Didn't see there was been discussed in the other thread.
Looks like the discussion has started. Bots are doing DDoS attacks on BPIP.ORG, and as a result we may be facing issues using the BPIP extension. In my case it doesn't show completely down, but the issue happened once it was working but next time again it appears that it is not working. Especially in my case DefaultTrust position is not showing.  Lips sealed
My guess is a DDoS or maybe a hung up process in IIS, but I need to wait for suchmoon to confirm, the commands needed to show resource information like this aren't really available on a shell/terminal user account. Server is still partially accessible on my end though, IIS appears running, but everything is very slow. The 503 error sort of hints towards a resource issue, one way or the other.

Yeah looks like DDOS. Not much I can do about that. As I said in the other thread, the forum is full of deranged trolls with nothing better to do. BPIP is only known or useful to bitcointalkers so no one else would have any interest in bringing it down.

the topic archive link is no where to be seen
Could it be related to the bump button? That changes the code and may not work with the extension. Try a few other topics. I'm not using this extension, so I can't check for myself.

That's what it's all about. Sections, where bump is enabled, do not have the "view topic archive" option. For example, it is the same with all topics within Service Announcements . Also, all topics within the Service Discussion section do not have a bump button but have a view topic archive.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean, but if it comes to "View Archive" in the right corner of every post, next to "report to moderator", I have that option visible in both threads you mentioned. Chrome browser in my case.
I mean the view topic archive link in the top right corner, as shown in the image below. This only appears in topic of certain boards

In the second link that I shared which happens to be a topic in the altcoins Announcements board, the topic archive link is no where to be seen

Sorry if this problem or bug has been identified before

I like how the extension archive (Ninjastic.space) adds links of each post/reply. However, there seems to be a problem with the view topic archive link. It appears in some boards and is not there in other boards

For example, this topic in the mining board has it - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/how-much-do-i-need-to-start-mining-5448335
This one in the Announcements (Altcoins) board does not have it - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/anndcr-decred-community-governance-bitcoin-devs-lightning-network-1290358

What could be the cause, bpip.org extension or ninjastic.space bug? Could it be that there are some more boards with such a problem, like Announcements (Altcoins) board?

Thanks for your suggestion. I did went ahead and checked the video. It does looks complicated, found a few articles on the topic. I will look into it and if possible work on it. There is zero guarantee that it will work as the video does say the same. It would have been good to have safari browser extension. If it doesn't work than the last resort for me would be to use Firefox browser which I consider better than Chrome.

Accept that the creation of BPIP extensions is exclusively on a volunteer basis in order to simplify the use of data for bpip.org
Adapting to each browser, testing, and monitoring updates for each of them, would require a lot of time. It certainly could not remain within the scope of volunteering.

You are going to choose between just downloading one of those browsers you hate, or having to go through a nightmare of searching through different YouTube channels to see if you can actually manage to add chrome or Firefox extensions onto your Safari.

I have no Apple product to test this, but there is a YouTube video taking about adding Chrome extensions to your safari browser. However, you are going to need some specific requirements

I am new to MAC OS and I have been struggling to find an answer to my query. I hope someone helps me with the process of getting it activated on my Safari Browser. I am aware I can download Chrome and Firefox and get it installed. I can do that but I don't like them and that is why I am asking this question.

Thanks.

You dont like Firefox and Chrome, and you just started using MacOS and Safari browser?? Yeah right  Roll Eyes

Anyway, if you ''love'' Safari browser so much than you can just use some theme to make Firefox look more like Safari, and install BPIP extension.
For example this one is with MIT source, but there are other options available:

Why the developers are not interested in getting out a Safari based extension

When this extension was being developed Apple had their own proprietary web extension system what was not compatible with what Firefox and Chrome (and now Edge) use. I know things have changed since then and porting the extension to Safari now may be easier but I don't have the time to look into that. I don't own any Apple products and AFAIK Safari is no longer available on Windows so I have no way of testing it anyway even if I tried to port it.

I have a few noob questions about this extension. You guys might have discussed about it on this thread. As it is not that easy to scroll through so many pages to find an answer. Here is what I want to know.

  • How to add this extension on my Safari Browser?
  • I did not find it on app store. Does that mean I need a thrid party to add it?
  • Why the developers are not interested in getting out a Safari based extension

Another strange bug I noticed, I don't know if it's the same with others.
In the thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/how-to-know-an-account-has-been-blacklisted-or-put-on-ignored-5459386 there is no BPIP Rank and Earned Merit data, while in several others that I checked, this data appears normally  Huh

Op for example

There is another strange thing I noticed and I guess it's also related with last downtime. User is shown inactive, despite that he logged in last time just few days ago. After refreshing profile on BPIP everything is OK again.

I see the same thing, maybe it's a bug that hasn't been fixed yet or is still loading.

I also saw in the merit record thread some pages "BPIP Rank and Earned Merit" did not appear, I checked several times it was the same and just realized a few hours ago. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5251894.1220

Hi, suchmoon!
I don't know if you have noticed, but the Bpip bot seems interrupted due to the Cloudflare issues. While Loycebot and TryninjaBot started working yesterday.

The cloudfare issue disrupted many things in the forum and those scraping the forum data. I know everything hasn't normalised yet, if it does all the data would be fine. Those data are not inputed manually, so if there is breach during the fetch time, it will either not return a result or it will return an incorrect result.

I just got to know that the BPIP extension is still in the beta version.
