Hi

this is the official E-Coin thread

Since this is the official E-Coin thread then you should edit the title of this thread.
Because the title means bitcoin debit cards in general and not a specific product.
And maybe it would be better to create another thread self-moderated and remove in future other posts.

I believe E-coin uses the same card issuer as Xapo and Advcash.
The other 2 cards seem to work just fine, it's strange that this one is having issues.

Since the user are reporting that they are receiving the blank black debit card then it should be the same.
But each other xapo advcash and now e-coin have different rates and each of them earn different profit.
Now bit-x has made they cards extremely expensive and i don't want other competitive to increase the price.

The cost of a Bit-X Named Card is $19.90 (issuance, shipping and activation). The fees are also on par with Xapo debit card fees: https://bit-x.com/guide/bitx-cards

I noticed they reduced the fees this month, seems more competitive now
Before they'd charge 0.002 + 1% even for POS sales  Roll Eyes

Correct me if I'm wrong, they're offering first year free of monthly fee, just like Xapo??

Correct!

I tried again a few hours later, and I was able to charge and use my card.
FWIW

its bad that the card dont always work, "Service unavailable - try again later" is a little bit problematic if you just filled your car up with gas for example

You can use the card all the time, you just cannot top it up all the time.

There was a problem with e-coin bitcoin debit cards last weekend
Don't know if they have solved it or not yet but that is not good for their clients.
Basically they tell you when to use thier service, and if i choose to use it i will use for emergencies and having trouble in this situation sucks.

Is your question/comment about E-Coin card or Bit-X? @marcotheminer is being kind enough to promote a different product in the official E-Coin thread, so, if you have questions about his card, better address it to him personally. Thank you for understanding

With E-Coin charge there is nothing charged for POS sales, neither by E-Coin (especially no separate BTC charge!), nor by the card issuing bank. Only when you use the card in a different currency, but that's the same for every single bank card out there.

The service is working.

Nice one. But already have enough on my bitcoin wallet.
Can i transfer my some BTC into this debit card if i purchase it ! Smiley

To order bitcoin debit card you can order by your bitcoins and no need for paypal or credit card.
Transfering your bitcoins to any of these cards takes maybe 1-2 hour until it gets 3-6 confirmation.
After that you can use the virtual or physical bitcoin debit card immediately.

You must preload it first by selling your BTC.

I just mentioned that you should transfer your bitcoin to any of these debit cards in order to use it.
If you have virtual card (in case of e-coin) then you can use it to buy/purchase immediately.
If not then you should wait for the physical bitcoin debit card to be shipped to you and use it after.

ok, I stand corrected, for some reason I had convinced myself the limit was 2500, but its 1000 so that would explain. Ill look in to getting verified; how long does that process typically take?

replied to your other post, mate. Looks like the issue may be with the card limits

the card should work fine now

Well, yes and no. It worked when I tried a small online purchase yesterday with my EUR card, but when I tried to withdraw some cash today, I got 'card refused' (balance is plenty). Ive not tried at a POS simply because I find it embarrassing to have a card refused at checkout.

I figured perhaps I had exceeded the limits on my unverified card, but I did the sums of all ATM transactions (the website is very unhelpful in figuring out totals or how close you are to the limits, I needed to add them up manually), I got to 980 euro, well below the 2500 limit. Even the overall sum is below €2500

So whats going wrong?

EUR 2.500 is the maximum load limit for the card. The maximum ATM withdrawal limit is EUR 1.000; the rest of the balance available to spend at POS or online. Looks like you've reached the card's lifetime ATM limit.

Point taken on reflection of the limits in your ledger, will think of ways to make it more convenient
