May I ask what kind of setup are you guys running @Cyrus
I could ask for a list from the video crew. But we're in the process of buying our own and have someone shoot and then send it off to editing. It's the only scalable way that makes sense for us.
Don't waste too much time on it if it'll end up using too much of your time. Still, whenever you get the official (your own) setup if you are able, I kindly ask you to share with us, at least I always like to know what kind of gear the channels that I follow is using.
- From an engagement perspective I understand the idea to send you usernames for you to read[7]. But I worry that it may be buried in the middle of the video and it ends up going unnoticed. Perhaps adding up a description on the video mentioning this little "game"? I saw that you added some links in the description but I don't think this one was mentioned. Still on this topic, what about time-stamping the video in the same time that you mentioned in the video description links? I think that for mobile users it would be better rather than having to open the description area and search for them.
That's a good idea! @BitcoinTalkShow actually had written a thread to post, asking for help. However, there's another thread I wanted to see posted as well and didn't want to be too spammy with the project. Spoiler: Asking content for Best of January Bitcointalk!
The video should be timestamped by the threads being mentioned though.
I think that, in the long run, as this channel grows we'll have to think about scalability regarding this thread and other possible ways that could be done to prevent, like you said, of creating a thread for a specific topic. I do know that some of the big channels that I follow have some sort of group chat within the community, like Discord for example. In the topic of being an avid advocate of privacy friendly apps, I only see either Element[1] or Briar[2]as feasible options to create such channels. One could argue that the discussion would then be geared more towards the channels and less here, but from the perspective of having a much reaction to some topics/feedback or even planning something, such platforms would be useful, wouldn't it?
@Cyrus, I think you should advertise the channel a bit more.
I mentioned to
hodlonaut about the Citadel21 hidden ad but no return yet (at least not that I heard of), I should have probably mentioned it to Katoshi too (probably will do it later as well), but if you guys are making hidden ads like that you could just contact the owners and see if they can spread the word.
I think you probably want to grow the channel the natural way, but just think about it
BTW finished with the first sub, will try to the second file until the end of the week, during my lunch breaks
Thanks for the tweet! Well, it wasn't a hidden ad, as there should always be a good amount of Bitcoin collectibles in our videos
Tomorrow we should be able to show off a pic to back up your tweet!
And thank you very, very much for the subtitles!
Since we're in the context of subtitles, thank you for adding the Portuguese ones to the second video Cyrus! I hope that I'm able to start (and finish) the subs for this 3rd episode sometime this weekend.
Also, @TheBeardedBaby, I know how time consuming that job can be (subtitling) so if you need any help in that field (as in sharing editing process and such) just send me a PM, I'm always glad to share perspectives.
I would have loved to have commented with my username, but I'm degoogling my life and have deleted my Youtube account. Apparently you can't create a new one without linking your phone number to it, which I'm not willing to do. Props to Cyrus and whoever else was behind the new vid! I'm looking forward to more.
We share the same similarity regarding the value for privacy (as we've discussed before). I honestly don't recall if I shared with you this (probably I did considering our past conversations) but I always keep an eye on either this reddit sub (r/degoogle[3] and Privacy Guides[4]) for tools and updates that allow me to keep my privacy...private. I do recommend them.
Glad you liked it! The more google services you use, the harder it's going to be to switch. Thankkfully there's a lot of open source alternatives to their services.
A bit off-topic: While this is true if, for example, a person that you have to send an e-mail to uses a @gmail address (or anything related), it almost is of no use using alternative services (like ProtonMail or TutaNota) because the e-mails will still be on Google's servers (at least on that conversation, your other e-mail activity is safe and it still makes it worth to use such services ...).
Using solely human moderators for social media simply does not scale.
Simple yet concise fact. It would be simply impractical to "watch" such a vast network/community/"being"? without the help of some sort of AI/computational intelligence. The danger that's behind it is the integrity of whoever is running/manipulating the strings. The way going forward will be a similar path and while there are alternatives to YouTube (such as PeerTube[5] or Odysee[6]), the adoption is still low (a comparison against YouTube is unfair because it's massive but it will always be done sadly...) I don't see much change in the horizon ... At least for now.
