error rate of 230 in 20 mins yeah thats obsurd I can got 7days and only get around 80 HW
These are a batch 8 S3
the rest are S3+ batch 11 and i have them all running at 250mhz stock voltage and hash steady 505 GHS
the very last S3+ i ordered does even better it gets 40 HW or less for 7 days

I did recently order some suppose to be s3+'s off of ebay and got them at a best offer price, thee dickhead thought he was being slick and sent me S3's instead Like i dont know the difference Smiley I got a whole rack of em. Anyways the ones he sent me were early batches S3 not S3+'s like i paid for. at the stock settings they were doing crazy HW errors like the one above, in fact in a 24hr period they had over 10k HW's If i tried to push the fequency even a tad bit X's started popping up.

Fortunately since because he sent me S3's and not S3+'s ebay made him take them back. Just ordered my first S5 with the refund for exactly what i paid him ($380) for those 2 trashed S3's.

But yeah if you got 200+ HW in 20 mins thats not good and reminds me of those trashed S3's that idiot tried to push off on me.

Your error rate is quite high.  You should dial back the clock speed.

Error rate % calculator: http://www.coincadence.com/antminer-s1-hardware-error/

Was built in S1 days, math is the same...

None of my S3's have error rates higher than slightly above .03%. Clocks vary from 237 to 250. You may need to play with the voltage as well to get the right mix. Not all S3's will hash at 500Gh/s though so you may simply have one that is slower.

Just got my S3+ today.  So far so good.  It had an OCT 24 2014 firmware on it but I replaced it with the latest antMiner_S320150109.bin.

I set the voltage through the GUI to 250, didn't even change anything with the voltage, and hit save/apply.

Hashing at ~500GH.

If you have bricked your control board, you can unbrick it via the serial header using a USB to TTL dongle.
Here's a link to how to do it: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.9902302

I upgraded my firmware, and notice all my machines now run around 100ghz, so i flashed it back to the stock firmware i had originally and they still run at 100ghz.

Any ideas?

Try cycling through the freqs in the drop down menu. If your running at the stock speed lower it down and save it and then reboot the miner and go back to the original speed you have selected and power it off and on after its saved and see if that fixes the issue. If it does not under the freq drop down menu enter 0784 as the voltage and click save. Once its done power the miner off and back on after a few seconds. U MUST power the miner off! Dont just reboot the miner so dont be lazy with that step otherwise nothing will change until its power cycled. Hope that helps.

i explained all this on this sight but no one would listen.

the firmware is screwed up and if you don't uncheck the save settings box above your flashing file  it will crash during flash and will be unbootable.
i explained this to many people the other day and no one believed me thy thought i was lying. but now you are down.
i have 26 s3's and my s3' were crashing many times a day thy were working good and then crash down to 40 gh/s i have been working on this problem for a month and finely fixed them.
if you had flashed bitmains last firmware 1226 thats the problem and reset wont work and if you flash back to earlier program it crashes the miner and is un bootable.
i am willing to enplane step by step how to recover the unbootable miner and flash crashing miners back to good firmware with success. bitmain is making tones of btc telling people the control boards are bad just like thy told me and i fixed it. it took me three hrs to set up and figure it out and now that im setup it only takes 15 minuts to fix a crashed s3's.
if you want the help i can give it and in return it would be nice to get a btc donation for saving you tons of time and money
but it can still be fixed

Hello,

I upgraded the firmware in my S3+ today. The upgrade didn't complete -- the page telling me to wait remained up for more than an hour.  When I finally did restart the unit, the red light was flashing and I could not reach the login  page.

Now hen I restart from the power switch, the green light flickers a few seconds, then stops, but red light continues blinking slowly.

I can no longer log into the device at 192.168.1.99
Holding reset button for 10 secs does absolutely nothing.
I tried switching the power connectors around. Tried a different supply. Have spent hours looking for answers, reading manuals and going over the bitmain site.

Any ideas of where to go from here? Is it bricked?

Happy New Year All.

Despite living in a cold room here in England my anminer is insistent of mostly spinning the fans at 1680rpm. Temps are fine, 40/38 never higher. Frequency is kept stock at 225 but the noise is so loud from the fans. Is there a way to spin them down to perhaps 1260ish - it seems possible as they perhaps do this maybe briefly one an hour. I thought about maybe underclocking the unit? Played around in the terminal but couldnt find and fan settings etc.

Any bright ideas?

 Huh

So how can i add more of those frequencies?

try
vi  /usr/lib/lua/luci/model/cbi/cgminer/cgminer.lua

Hi,

I recently updated my S3+ to the latest firmware from
https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=007201407180243004432lBQW28O0633

Now I've noticed that the miner stops mining after 12-16 hours

I've tested both stock speeds and 250M

Miner Status:
oooooooo oooooooo with temp 41
oooooooo ooooooxo with temp 42

as soon as I restart cgminer it runs for another 12-16 hours.

I have no idea what to do. any suggestions?

Latest firmware is causing this. Try default frequency setting and change voltage to 0725 and see it that works, otherwise roll back firmware to before Oct. release (that one won't allow the reset button to work).

My friends, can 3x Bitmain Antminer S3`s make you $190 a month after electricity bills?
I have a discussion about this here (below the video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXOZgLmbkHA

No, they won't make me $190 a month profit.  But I have my 3x S3 Antminers miners in hand, they provide free heat for the Winter and I can resell them anytime I want and have my money back in hand.

What will I have if your cloud based operation goes tits up?
