Depends where you live .... if in eu having 240volt you could go for server psu's delivering 2100 watts
I am currently trying to find a solution for the dell 2100 psu's if its possible to get a breakout box for them

Not sure a breakout board is available for it, but you can still wire it as you wish. Here is the trick to start it, if you don't already have it.

I don't have one at hand to design the board, I'll probably design one for the HP DL 580 g3 1300w PSU that I use for almost everything that needs 12v, they are great and I sourced some for less than 40€ where the Dell 2100 are over 100€. The only downside is that the plug to connect the boare to the psu is hard to find in small quantities and cheap.

For those not familiar with server PSU, please note that they are using specific power cable. It's often a C20 plug, if I'm not mistaken.

These breakout boards for the cheap IBM 2000 watt PS will be available soon - http://www.gekkoscience.com/products/IBM2K_board.html.  this site will prob offer both PS and breakout board in a combo deal, but currently only has the PS available (for cheap too!) - http://minersource.net/products/delta-dps2000w-server-power-supply.  you can get his current product which uses a Dell 750 watt server power supply http://minersource.net/products/dell-750w-psu-slash-adapter.  I've used this specific product and have been very pleased.

Which one of these PSU(800 to 850 W) will you buy? As im not going to OC because im fine with default GH/s and temperature and Power consume, with 800 or 850 W better, i can power up 2 S3.

So here are the possible ones:

http://www.pccomponentes.com/fuentes_alimentacion/800w/850w/

Just has to be less than 100 Eur. i know there are very good PSU and they cost more than 100 Eur but i dont want to spend that much if they just work fine.

thanks!

I use a Corsair RM1000 pulling 750 Watt from it (one OC and one Stuck) a bit overkill, but it's running at about 75% capacity which is save and easy for him.

ok guys hehe. i will have to consider then spending a little more just to run them safe Smiley

Corsair, seasonic, antec are good brands.
Go for at least 850w for 2 S3, always keep at least 10-15% margin for a PSU that will run 24h a day 365 day a year.
If you want cheaper one and if you can do the mod, buy a server PSU and mod it, rcgroup website is a great source on how to mod server PSU.

I got my S3 today and got it setup and mining away, but i noticed something wierd in the summery page and dont know if this is a problem or not so i wanted to ask.

Accepted   Rejected   HW   Utility      Discarded
4,228        85             5       24         38,145

This is a printout from my summery page and im not sure what the discarded is and why its so high. any explanation would be graetful to a new miner.
Today setup process of my S2 showed that you better change the mining pool.
Things are looking very interesting - the same pool can be suitable using one internet provider, and discard a lot of shares with just another provider... Latest Kano's firmware made mining on triplemining pool impossible due to big enough amount of rejected/discarded shares, but now S2 is mining on it normally just using another provider...

Anger is a gift.
Anyone noticed any improvements in hashrate or temperature after updating to the newest S3 firmware?

Both of my units running at 443gh\s, so for one of my ants thats a 12gh\s increase.

Tried flashing one with the new firmware and seeing no improvements. 20minutes passed.

I had one unit that gained 20 GH/s and one that lost 20 GH/s. They have all been running for almost 4 hours since I flashed them.

my hashrate the same, but temperature improved for me.

Right now my 2 S3:

218.75 --> 365 W --> 412,72 GH/s
218.75 --> 369 W --> 434,55 GH/s

both units set to 225.
1 get 453gh and the other 425gh which is the same as stock.

btw has anyone figured out how to get rid of the annoying beep. I have set it to false already in settings but they still randomly let out a beep for no apparent reason.
I saw the post where the guy put soundproofing over the beeper but there has to be an easier solution.

The earlier trick was to put a tape on the mouth of speaker.
But, today Bitmaintech releases a new firmware for S3 and that will have the fix for it.
Now the beeper is alerting the very first moment when work is not available from pool.
But now with the new firmware it will glow a green LED when its mining fine and the Green LED turn off when no immediate work is available.
Even after one minute if no work is available it will start beeping.
So update your S3 with the new firmware which can be downloaded from bitmaintech website.

Probably a really dumb question here but................

Say a person just ordered 30 S3's and wanted to find a more economical (not in terms of price but in terms of setup )solution to powering them all instead of buy a ton of standard PSU's.

Does anyone know of a solution involving a larger power supply unit that could say, power 5 units off it instead of having to have a dozen standard ATX psu's?

Looking for something as close to plug and play as possible.... Thanks for not beating me up over a dumb question. Smiley
