Gennady Golovkin is so far the closest and competitive opponent of Canelo in his career. I also like to see the trilogy between them and hopefully, it can be arranged. They need a part 3. But before that Canelo needs to settle first with Caleb Plant to become an undisputed boxer this year.

Won't be an easy fight for Canelo but I'm sure he can handle Caleb Plant. The latter has attractive odds to win but too risky to gamble with it.

With an unbiased jury, Golovkin would have won the matches of 2017 and 2018. There should have been a rematch in 2019, but Alvarez chickened out and refused to face GGG. Now there is no point in getting a trilogy fight in 2022. The fact remains clear - Canelo was afraid of a defeat in 2019 and therefore refused to face Golovkin for the third time. No matter how much glory he achieves at the boxing ring (there is no doubt that Canelo is an all time great), this one thing will remain as a black mark and haunt him forever.

I agree with this although Canelo could claim that there is no more point for a rematch because he has already won. But to someone who is neutral, the fight could have also be given to Golovkin. That's the reason why the judges only came up with a majority decision. The fight was not a convincing win for Canelo. If he was man enough to settle the score especially because their first match was also a split draw, he should have arranged for a rematch. The GGG-Canelo battle was never really settled.  And it's because of Canelo avoiding it.

What ladder? Much upper weight class? I don't think he will move up more from being a Welterweight, MiddleWeight, and Light Heavyweight to a much higher weight class. It's not about that his comfort zone but that was logically the weight class he is fit to. There are still big names on those divisions which he can pick on his future fights.

It's better for him to stay in the weight class where he is compatible and doesn't need to give much effort to defeat his opponents. Boxing is not just to conquer most of the weight division where you are not sure when you increase your weight and still have those power punches to shake your opponent cause most of the boxer only bring heavy body when they increase their weight and easily defeated by their opponents especially when their opponents are has been long compatible in those weight division.

Just Like Mayweather refuse to take rematch against Manny Pacquiao , it is best to remain Undefeated recorded than facing an opponent that you are in doubt of winning continuously .

there are different types of Boxers .

there are others that want to test their capacity in fighting the toughest .

and there are also those type of Boxers that only looking for Fame .

maybe after this fight and if he can easily win over caleb, i am guessing he will be thinking how to move up the ladder. i don't think he will just be contented to stay in his comfort zone. he will aim for more as he is still very capable of. but for now, he's focusing with his training for this upcoming fight. but just wanna say, i prefer canelo's style of fighting rather than mayweather.
I am expecting an easily win for Canelo Alvarez and after defeating Caleb Plant what is the best opponent he will have to challenge him. The only competition he had was Gennady Golovkin and i thought he lost the first fight and i would like to see the trilogy so that the boxing fans would see an excitement fight which is competitive rather than having one sided encounters.

You are not the only one wanting to see a trilogy, but Canelo turn it down multiple times in the last year or so. I doubt that we can see this fight in the future, and GGG is already 40+ years old, no longer in his prime.

I guess smart money will go to Canelo, the odds are not that attractive but maybe handicap or total of rounds will be good enough for us to bet. The debate is now whether can Caleb can stay 10.5 rounds/over and under.

I'm also seeing Canelo Alvarez winning the fight but I'm not thinking it will be an easy one. Caleb Plant is now doing his best efforts on his training and we should good result of it once the fight happened. He should show us that he can able to make the fight close and give judges a headache deciding with their score cards.

About the trilogy against GGG, I doubt it will happen again as Canelo is not interested even at 1%.

Almost $500 million and up being earned by Floyd if I'm not mistaken. So he is there on top of everyone including Canelo.

But I think Canelo will be the second boxer in the list after retirement. Mayweather has different set of fans, they watch and buy live tickets because they want to see him lose, lol. But so far still undefeated record.

Mayweather's career is over he is semi-retired he will fight for exhibition, Canelo's career is at its peak he will have a lot of great fights and a lot of money coming in, in three or four years he can surpass Mayweather's career earning, and could become one of the boxers with highest earnings, Canelo is one of the most exciting boxers to watch in this era.

That is who will be Canelo's willing dance partner?

Floyd has Manny to generate the biggest PPV ever
Then Floyd vs Oscar Dela Hoya

Then when he started to crossover or make exhibitions match, Floyd vs Conor.

But since Canelo has clean up the 160-168 lbs there are no fighters that can give him that huge amount of money Floyd does in his career.

GGG? Nah, I don't think, this is the third fight and supposedly they should have fought like 2 years ago.
Canelo is probably going to need to move up a division if he wants to get even more money, he feels very comfortable in his division and I have no doubts that if he has his sight on being the undisputed of the division then he can do it, but there are no huge fights left for him, he can attract a crowd but if he really wants to earn more money then he needs an opponent that can do the same and in his division this is very difficult to do as I think he is clearly the best.

Exactly, he is still young so he will have more fights but not in the current division as he is already dominating now. Giving himself a new challenge would make the fans more excited about seeing him fighting a heavier and bigger opponent, and if he still dominates (which likely would happen) then that would not only give him a lot of money but his popularity will also grow and might become a hall of famer when he retires.

Will Pacquiao's son be able to follow his footstep in boxing? I think he is serious because he is now training with Canelo who is the top pound for pound king, Manny's son does not have to break the achievement of his father but winning a championship would already bring honor to his country.

I'm not underestimating the kid, but I guess he's not going to get closer to his father's achievements.
Manny has dedicated his blood and sweat for his passion who started at a very young age. Trained his body with all sorts of hard work. I guess there's a huge difference between dedication and passion over hobbies or a temporary interest.
I've seen him fight once, and he's not actually a bad fighter but what he needs to find is the purpose why he box.

On the other hand, Canelo could teach him a lot of lessons that Manny didn't taught him.

No offense or whatsoever, but I agree that the kid's future in this sport might not be the same as how his father established and achieved his career. All this dedication that puts Pacquiao to be the one of those few boxing legendary who bring pride not only to his country but a hero in every boxing enthusiast.

Though he might gain lots of skills from Canelo that he can use, just wondering does his mommy Jinky will allow to risk his life? Roll Eyes
they already have everything in terms of financial aspects, so why risk his health?

If he wanted to collect more, moving up to another division is one of the best options for him. If he will do this, fan will buy him more, especially if he continues his dominance.

I would be optimistic that his son will have a good future in boxing, in fact, Manny's son does not need to fight because they are one of the richest families in the Philippines already, but it seems like his father's passion for boxing is pass on to him and I hope it will not pressure him but inspire him to improve more and be an entertaining boxer like his father.

Would be bad advise though to follow his father's footsteps, yeah it could just been a hobby because as far as I can remember he fought or something or there were videos circulating that the younger Pacquiao trainer.

In any case, even as great as his father or even Canelo, it will be very different.

Just the great Julio Cezar Chaver Sr. he was one of Mexico's great but look at how JCC Jr turns out to be.

Practice is different from the actual fight, although Canelo is exceptionally good we can never guarantee a win since Caleb would surely work to increase his chance of winning this fight. Canelo is getting better and better every time, but he is not perfect, he could also make a mistake that might cause him a defeat.

I agree with you that Canelo is not perfect but even Caleb is doing great from practice and working hard to increase his chance to win the fight, Canelo is also having the same. A great example that Caleb doesn't have that good reflexxes is when Canelo is able to throw a punch on his face at their press conference. That was actually easy to avoid but Caleb is not paying attention. Now that it happened, Caleb should watch for that.
I do not think we should make any conclusions about the fighting abilities of Caleb based on that incident, after all maybe he was not expecting that reaction from Canelo and he was simply unable to avoid the hit as he was surprised by the turn of events, however it is clear by the odds being given by the casinos that Canelo is the favorite by far and unless Caleb can connect some good punches at the beginning of the fight I do not see him having a chance against Canelo.

Canelo will be too quick for Caleb. Did you see his moves during the press conference? Canelo took off Caleb Plant’s sunglasses with the left hand then slapped him on the head with the right hand in milliseconds hehehe.

In any case, this is off the topic, however, I am excited to share this with you Canelo and Pacquiao fans. Who is this young pup training with Canelo?

I admire you guys that you are seeing Caleb Plant has a chance to make more damage to Canelo. I hope that kind of bravery will be brought to your actual betting. I know there's always a chance for Canelo to lose but he is now more pumped and ready for the fight since he already received trashtalks even just before that press conference.

All those tirades are now on Canelo's mind and once his anger unleashed, expect that the fight might end up in a Knock Out.

That's funny though, "that kind of bravery will be brought to your actual betting".  Grin Grin Grin I don't know if there are many bettors here that will indeed bet on Caleb. For sure, many will bet on Canelo, maybe not on full time but high likely in the over/under.  Because betting at full time on Canelo is not worth much as the odds are very low. So even bookies are heavily favoring Canelo here.
