Again, who would not like Bivol, he is so humble, no trash talk just wanted to give the fans a good fight. And that mentality though, so let's see how he will do against the best fighter in Canelo Alvarez.

Yeah, Bivol is a very likable guy. To be quiet is the best thing that he should do as he would be in the spotlight on the weekend because whatever words that may come from his mouth might have a negative effect on him because of this Russian-Ukraine war and him being a Russian has put him into this controversy.

This fight is part of the "Cinco de Mayo" celebration which is a Canelo event hehe, so I will be putting my money on him as I believe that Canelo is very hard to defeat at this stage of his career.

Yeah, I can't imagine that Canelo will just turn 32 years old this July.

So he is still in his prime and he said that maybe he will still fight in the next 7 years. Names like GGG will be next for him and then those other LHW in the division, Beterviev and other rank fighters. Even Usyk name is put into discussion but not sure if Canelo is willing to go as high as HW.

Waiting for this fight to happen. Bivol knows he is on the spotlight here so whatever he will say can be used against him. So better keep mum and let do the talking his performance come this fight. Canelo is like at the prime of his career so no doubt many are believing on him with his capability even if he is the one going up with the weight division.

Bivol is like that he did not change because he is facing Canelo he doesn't trash talk and is very quiet he never chooses to be mum it is just his character, and about the prime of his career they are both in the prime of their career, it's just Canelo is too experienced and probably stronger than Bivol, Canelo is the heavy favorite here but I will admire Bivol more if he takes the fight to the distance, and I believe he can do it.
Bivol is a champ. I like him so much and follow him. His fight with Canelo is something fans have been waiting for. I like the strength of both the boxers but I will bet on Bivol. But that is correct too Canelo is too experiences as compared to Bivol and his strength and speed is amazing. Lets see who takes the lead.

He is very professional he is never takes thing personally and we all know Canelo treat his opponent the way he treats him, if his opponent shows the respect he will do the same, but this does not mean we are not going to have a great fight we will see a great fight as both fighters complement each other, they love to engage and love to mix up, these kinds of fighters make a good fight, so I expect to see a lot of action here.

Bivol is a champ in many boxing championships in which he'd been training in the US for a long time. he must have learned well including English. this is not the kind of boxer that hasn't faced intimidating boxers. pulling an upset might be difficult for him to achieve as he is facing Canelo. but i would be happy to get my winnings Smiley

its just small amount actually but whoever wins, i will enjoy the rumble.

It's your assessment and that also counts when you say that he already trained for quite some time, enough to create good strategy and understand how his opponents will work against him, there's no doubt that Canelo will continue to be the heavy favorite but we never know when upset will take place.

A solid conversion to Canelo's critical parts will give you that chance to collect your winnings.

Let see if how things will be there for us fans, looking to see toe-to-toe fights between the two.
I'm really seeing Dmitry Bivol as an underrated boxer because he is really a tough one to face that's why he got the place where he was now and being a champion in the light-heavyweight is not an easy task to accomplish and yet he did. Infact, he is way more better and superior than Sergey Kovalev who was also defeated by Canelo via KO. But all of that accomplishments doesn't mean that he can do an easy upset towards the undisputed champion Canelo Alvarez, this surely will be an interesting fight.

^^ Yeah, it's hard to read the body language of a fighter if he is intimidated or not. But this is boxing, so for sure you have to think that you want to take the head of your opponent during stare downs,  Grin

But just like the rest who voted in this poll, Bivol is the underdog and it seems boxing fans are not giving him the chance to topple the king yet.

Does the face off matter whether who is intimidated?

I think so, a little. Final weigh-ins are normally done one day before the fight. So if you could effectively intimidate or even affect the mind of your opponent on that day, your opponent could not easily adjust anymore because it is going to be the fight day the next day. If you successfully get into the mind of your opponent at weigh-in, that might cause him a little trouble, perhaps in his sleep or whatever, that could affect him the following day.

I doubt that, they are professional and before they accept the fight, they know already what their opponent can do. The real battle is in the ring, and both boxers believe that they can win, but like any other competition, it's the better player that will win.
I definitely agree, both have something big to lose here and accepting the fight means that they already know the capabilities. As I saw their final presscon few hours ago, I can say that there will be no mind games on their face-off or any intimidation while trying to get in each other's head and actually they are being respectful to one another, that only shows how professional these two boxers are. I'm quite surprised though that Dmitry Bivol knows how to speak English, haven't expected that.

Can Bivol change this expectation once inside the ring?
Another couple of days, and we will be watching this fight to reality.
Many are underestimating Bivol, but with the challenges he is facing, I believe, he is motivated to do his best in this fight.
So let us watch this fight and see if Bivol doesn't really have the chance with Canelo.
Whether or not this can be proven in the ring later. apart from that there is nothing wrong with Hopkins' statement because Hopkins knows the capacity of Bivol and knows the capacity of Canelo. Obviously this is quite a stark difference but now the game is almost over and Bivol will have to give it their all and go the extra mile if they are to change the Stigma given to them.

Bivol should really do his best to erase the doubts of the majority. Only a few are picking him to win the fight.

This will be a hard fight for Dmitry because if we see how Canelo has won his past fights then we will realize how this will be an easy one for him.

I just take a look at oddsshark and they say:

Canelo Álvarez   1.25
Dmitry Bivol   3.75

So, 1.25 isn't bad at all when we talk about easy money.

During faceoffs, Canelo does not look like he is from a lighter division. Bivol has a bit height advantage, Canelo is more wide in shoulders.
You should check his training and conditioning on Youtube he may be light but his power is awesome he has no problem adding weight and going back to a lighter weight division

Quote
For this fight, Canelo would put 15 millions in his wallet, Bivol just 2. But, they will also split 70/30 PPV shares. This is a lot, but not the largest fee Canelo gets. He got 12 millions for a fight against Mayweather for example and 40 against Caleb Plant.

But he will add to his records an undefeated world champion, more money will come later the biggest money will come after this fight probably against Golovkin, it could become his biggest paycheck.

Well, we have two non-trash talking fighters this weekend. Canelo with his current status will never get intimidated. And we have Bivol who's got a poker face. I never saw Bivol's face changed either in a bad situation or in a situation where his opponent is already hurt. In one interview, Bivol was asked what is his message to Canelo, he said he don't know what to say and then went on to just say "Maybe. Hi! Hello!". Cheesy

Compared to Canelo's last fight this fight is really stress-free for both camps no thrash talk no pushing, and there's mutual respect for each other it's been a long time since I've seen Canelo calm and no anger on their conferences and face-off, we hope there's a lot of action when they meet inside the ring compared when they meet outside the ring, hope they are in the best form of their fighting career, of course, Canelo will win this easily.

^^ And just like before him (Manny Pacquiao), Canelo is now the ticket to stardom if you beat him, and then the money that you are going to make, they called it sweepstakes.

So it's Bivol time to see if he can win and pull the biggest upset this year. Maybe if he don't put too much pressure on his shoulder and just box the way he does, maybe this will not be a one sided and could give Canelo a good fight until Canelo adjusted.

Can we please switch from discussing how cool Canelo is and why there must be a third fight against GGG, to who Dmitry Bivol is ? Everyone here talk like Canelo has already won. Bivol is not a boy for beating. Bivol has successfully defended his WBA lightheavy title 3 times. That is something to take into consideration.
~

But in fact, judging by the quotes of the bookmakers, it is. Canelo is such a clear favorite that boxing fans are already ready to discuss possible next fights than this "determined" fight. Of course, Bivol is not an easy opponent and not a bag whose probability of winning is zero, but if you look objectively, his chances are more like a lucky punch than winning the fight as a whole.
that's obvious because in this match Bivol is still labeled as an Underdog now even though his abilities are extraordinary but indeed it's still not enough to equalize with Canelo now.
Canelo has now gone through 60 international fights including 57 wins, 2 draws and one loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Bivol is arguably a newcomer when compared to Canelo then it's quite clear that he is very favored by the bookies

I don't think we have seen Canelo as the underdog in fight maybe except for the Floyd Mayweather because he is still relatively unknown that time.

But his records now speak for himself, from 154 lbs to 175 lbs, he has conquered a lot of divisions and beat champions along the way. He is still 4:1 favorite as per bookies right now. Bivol is good but he doesn't have the skills to beat Canelo, but he can give Canelo problems early and then Canelo adjusting.

Well let's hope so, the truth is that Canelo would win to see if we can see him against GGG, if he wins, I think the chances of that fight will increase significantly, on the other hand, the Russians are very strong when it comes to fight, they by nature have exquisite technique, and clearly Bivol wants to take advantage of this fight to see if he can rise to fame and open his doors for the best fights, obviously it will bring him a lot of money and range, as long as I think that It is what Bivol is looking for, he knows very well that if the results are given, it will happen.

This is what I'm trying to drive up, if you could have even for a brief moment see that your opponent is intimidated, you already score some points. Even in non contact sports, let's say body building. Flexing your muscles in front of your opponents might terrify them and it could haunt them during the competition. And that's why in boxing, trash talking, another form of intimidation is common even before the actual fight.
