I was shouting at my television while watching it. For Magsayo to stay in the distance while Figueroa is trying to close the gap. Magsayo is winning at his own range, the jabs are going in, and the combos are also sinking in the face of Figueroa. If he only listened to his coach when he said he should go for 3 punches and then go out then he might be the winner of that fight.
Brandon had a difficult time reaching him, but he got Magsayo to fight the close range and he fell for it.
I don't think it's the training, it's the listening that he should practice.

I do not agree with the scorecards too but I know he lost that fight after the 2 points were deducted. I gave him 4 of the first 6 rounds but the rest of it is either on Figueroa's or a tie. Stamina is a big issue for him and it's not surprising anymore.

He didn't work hard in this comeback fight and he just loses that easily, too much confidence in his skills and he didn't practice some more to surprise his opponent. I don't think Magsayo didn't practice; that would discount the success of Figueroa. Let's just say that Figueroa's talent is better than Magsayo's, and that's the reason why he won the fight. Magsayo is not on the level of the champion now, and the two losses he had resulted in him being an ordinary boxer again. Let's not force the issue; Magsayo lost, and that's it.

I definitely agree that Figueroa deserves that win but i don't think the gap on the scorecards is justifiable. In the unofficial scorecards of the commentators, they scored it 114-112 in favor of Figueroa and if not for the point deductions, it could have been a draw in the unofficial scorecards and that point deduction by the ref is also questionable as he did not warn Magsayo not to hold or whatever that warrant a deduction if he keeps on doing it.

Anyways, that's boxing and it's understandable that the ref and judges will favor Figueroa as he is more popular in the US, also Mark Magsayo was not so impressive in that fight.

Congrats to the Figueroa backers here and if my memory is right, that should be 2.xx for Figueroa to win via decision.

I honestly agree with you both. Not only does Magsayo need to win his upcoming fight but he also needs to fix his hurt pride from his last bad match. Its hard to say why he lost but if you ask me, I would qualify that loss as a fluke. That should not have happened.

I also agree with the fact that this fight is really nice pickings for us, the bettors who know and love Magsayo. Of course devotion alone does not win fights but devotion always has roots and a good reason.

There's nothing to be ashamed of, as Magsayo did his job in the ring to win. It's just that Figueroa was the better fighter there, and he won a unanimous victory. Magsayo also had some problems, as he was deducted points. It's not good for a struggling boxer to win and aggravate the problem more.

Magsayo should now focus on reflecting on what went wrong, instead of blaming the refs and judges. There's no time for excuses; it's two consecutive losses already, so it's not a great sign for him.

I agree, Figueroa has a very good chin, he was able to absorb the strong punch of Magsayo that's why he keep on coming forward despite being hit. And Brandon strategy is go to the body of Mark because they know that it will take a toll on him in later rounds.

True. He got the power and speed but his stamina doesn't improve at all which supposed to be the one he should work on before this fight happened. It's somehow a close fight he had the chance if only he didn't often leaning forward to his opponent and not showed he's already exhausted.

Well, it's another loss for him, but Magsayo is still young and he can still develop and improve what he's lacking to win the fight. Anyhow congrats to Figueroa.

I don't know what Magsayo from the start of the fight seems to be holding, and holding only one arm of Figueroa and allow him to be hit with the other hand. It could have been a good strategy if he stops both hand, but the funny thing is that he keeps just stopping that right hand and so it was really obvious from the referee's stand point and so he deducted a point. And that's it, he hasn't improved on his stamina and his power punches has no effect on Figueroa maybe in round 2 wherein Brandon move back a bit. But other than that, it was the same Magsayo, and it was a bad lost for him as this is 3 fights in a row now.

Round 3 now, I have Magsayo winning the last 2 rounds.

But I still very nervous when Brandon hitting him with counter in his body. But I love what Magsayo is doing, circling the ring and then stopping Brandon by hugging to stop the momentum.
