Maybe there are things that cannot be changed in months and even a year. Magsayo's stamina has been an issue long before and yet it remains an issue. The good thing here is Magsayo in spite of fighting a taller fighter with more reach does not need to chase since Figueroa is a brawler. Figueroa is probably not going to run as seen from his previous fights so he will be hittable by Magsayo's power punches. The problem though is when Figueroa won't get hurt by Magsayo's big punches. And once Figueroa becomes confident, I have doubts about Magsayo's ability to fight in a brawl. Magsayo's lack of stamina and the body punches from Figueroa might bring an end to this fight. So I am rooting for Magsayo's big punches to hurt and stop Figueroa in the first half of the fight.

Mark Magsayo should be able to hurt Figueroa in the early rounds because that way he would take out the confidence of the latter to engage as the fight progresses. We all know that Figueroa has a granite chin so I'm not so sure if Mark could KO him unless he could land those bombs with blinding speed. Also rooting here for Magsayo and I'm hoping that could score points in the early rounds as his opponent is a slow starter, that might make the difference in this match.

More betting options now for this fight and that Mark Magsayo by decision @6.40 is very tempting for me.

I'm sure that Mark Magsayo and his camp learned something about his last encounter with Vargas, whether if it's stamina or endurance to finish the whole 12 rounds without giving any huge signs of exhaustion. It's impossible to think that Magsayo haven't improved even for just a little bit after that fight as Vargas gave him a nightmare after that and I believe that became his driving force to thrive even more to be a champion once again in the future. Now, if he will still fail against Figueroa, then maybe he's just another Philippine boxer that will come and go.

Not just the stamina but Magsayo's camp surely also work out how to counter against a tall boxer with a long reach compare to him. Vargas is almost just the same as Figueroa in terms of height and also has long arms. They sure prepared on that as Magsayo also has a goal of becoming a world title holder again.

I agree with that even with such intense training and preparation, but still, losing to Figueroa, it would be clear that Magsayo's dominance before and clean record can't handle the competition in the top rankings at the Featherweight. But not thinking that way as I believed, Magsayo will have to chance to be the interim champion and faces Vargas next for the WBC Featherweight Title.

I am in favor of Magsayo in this matchup.
I voted Magsayo by KO/TKO.

It would be a great fight if Magsayo and Vargas have a rematch, both are no longer undefeated, one coming from a big win while the other came from a huge loss. So, the momentum is probably on Magsayo, and I have a feeling that he will be able to prove to us that he is better than Vargas. However, for that to happen, Magsayo needs to defeat Figueroa first, who is highly favored to win.

money matters, another fight that may attract more fans and bring more profits.

We should disregard money matters here as even if the fight will have a low market, it's a mandatory fight that will happen no matter what. It's good for me that Rey Vargas loses that fight against Foster as he thinks he can handle already the division he wants to conquer.

I also want to see Magsayo facing Rey Vargas soon if he wins this fight against Figueroa as to how he can be considered a top-rank Featherweight if he can't get a win against the boxer who stole his title before. A few days from now and we will now witness the clash between Figueroa and Magsayo.

I wonder who's the one Vargas is rooting for to be his challenger.
If Magsayo wins --it would certainly be interesting to see him face Rey Vargas, who is another top-rank Featherweight. Vargas previously held the WBC Super Bantamweight title before moving up to Featherweight, and he could prove to be a tough challenge for Magsayo. A single fight does not necessarily determine a fighter's worth or ranking in their division. Magsayo's loss to Isaac Dogboe in 2018 does not negate his other impressive performances and victories. Similarly --a win over Figueroa would not automatically make Magsayo the top-ranked Featherweight or guarantee him a fight against Vargas which I highly doubted. But my opinion is the outcome of the Figueroa vs Magsayo fight will likely have implications for the Featherweight division and potential matchups in the future, but it is important to view each fight on its own merit and not make assumptions based on past performances or rivalries.

I am in favor of Magsayo in this matchup.
I voted Magsayo by KO/TKO.

After the Fury - Tyson match this is another must-watch match for the boxing enthusiast, not a championship one but this one generates a lot of interest because both fighters are coming from loss, and they need to bounce back for their career and for the title, somebody's journey will end com March 4, it's great to watch non-title bouts for two fighters with good potential and they are both coming from loss because they will give everything they've got to get back in contention.
A consecutive loss is devastating for any boxer, especially for a young and former champion, so expect both fighters to fight intelligently and aggressively.

A non-title bout but this fight is a ticket for a title match, a mandatory fight against the current WBC Featherweight title Rey Vargas.

Actually, this fight is supposed to be almost a title fight as the winner of this might be possible to be elevated to WBC Featherweight champion if Vargas won against Foster several weeks as that win will expect him to move up weight and vacant his WBC Featherweight title.

But since Vargas loses, the winner between Figueroa and Magsayo will have to face him to fully elevate being an interim champion to a champion if successfully beat the reigning champion, Rey Vargas.

The reason why both Figueroa and Magsayo are eager to beat one another for that chance, we will see who among the two great fighters will win and will going to challenge the current champ.

Stamina was always been a problem for Mark Magsayo, I even thought that maybe it was because they don't have a good place where to jog as I have always seen them jogging on the second Mactan bridge in Cebu when he was still with the ALA stable but that problem still exist even if he was there in the US, though there is a little improvement but still it is noticeable.

I have to agree with you regarding the stamina concerns for Magsayo.

But since changing head trainer in October last year, I'm sure his camp already working out for a long on how to improve Magsayo's stamina.

After all, it's not that he's really getting totally exhausted the entire fight but rather just a noticeably lacking strength of his punches. Magsayo was able to survive the 12-round fight against Rey Vargas and just needs a good adjustment on how to make his stamina last longer to be able to keep also his strength last long.

I'm sure that Mark Magsayo and his camp learned something about his last encounter with Vargas, whether if it's stamina or endurance to finish the whole 12 rounds without giving any huge signs of exhaustion. They really should. After all, it's not that Magsayo will always have a shot to the title fight. If he will lose this, he will eventually loses his top rankings and might be back again from scratch. Figueroa, Vargas etc. there are lots of good boxers in the Featherweight that Magsayo needs to face and won to fully recognized being a top featherweight.

PH needs another title holder so I hope Magsayo will goes back into champion list.

Mark has gone back to his old coach, Marvin Somodio and a conditioning coach, so this might help him a lot against Brandon Figueroa's match. It's not that Freddie Roach failed or wait, maybe there could be language barriers and so it's good to be back with Marvin who have trained him most of his careers.

And with a conditioning coach, it could give Mark the needed trainings on how he can improved his stamina and gas tank because that's what we all notice in his fight that he gasses out in the middle or later rounds. Maybe because he is a puncher, and if his power doesn't hit someone, it will really take a big toll on his strength that will affect his stamina. Hopefully this is going to be corrected by the team against Figueroa.

I hope that is what will happen but often times I observe that most of the problem of Filipino boxers is stamina.  Even Donaire and Pacquiao have some fight that they are completely exhausted and just dragging thier stamina to end the fight.

So I think if ever Magsayo had fixed his shortcomings then there is a huge possibility for him to win in a game.

He manages to survive but the quality of his punches in the last few rounds dictates that he just trying to survive and not to fall into a KO, hopefully with enough preparations, they will figure it out not to fall short.

This fight is an opportunity to make a good comeback, so Magsayo really needs to win this fight to have
that chance again in chasing the title/belt. Looking forward to see him doing all-in now since there are many
good and tough competitors from his current division.

It's a tough comeback for him because his opponent is highly favored. But we can trust Magsayo to work his way and try to find a way to win. The best victory he can give us is a knockout because fans are starting to doubt whether he is really the real deal or just lucky to have won a championship in the past.

he was able to overcome them until he was given a fight in America where he seems not to have the same confidence he has before.

If you are referring to the fight against Rey Vargas, it's not that Mark Magsayo seems to lose his confidence in that fight. It's just that Vargas is truly different from those foes that Magsayo face before. The notable difference is Vargas has the height and reach advantage and in general, Magsayo is not that used for fighting against that trait. But impressively, Magsayo is still able to win on 1 judge and loses by a split decision.

Against Figueroa, Magsayo will face again an opponent with a height and reach advantage. I do hope that his fight against Vargas will be a good reference on how to make a counter-strategy against those boxers with that kinds of physical traits and advantages.

I think Magsayo will train harder so he won't lose in the same way again. Figueroa needs to develop more strategies to avoid being predictable since Magsayo is a powerful puncher and a one-hit knockout kind of boxer. Although I admit that he doesn't have the stamina of a real warrior, it can be improved of course.

Of course, he really needs this one here, he needs to gain back his honor and confidence because losing is just part of the game, and to bounce back what he needs to aim. Magsayo was a knockout artist in his early career though he was only fighting decent boxers back then, he was able to overcome them until he was given a fight in America where he seems not to have the same confidence he has before. Therefore, he really needs to strive and get back on his track because right now there are only a few Filipino boxers left to be representative in boxing.

On the other side, Magsayo needs to improve his stamina and timing on when to give an accurate punch. He needs a strategy to take down Figueroa, otherwise he can't bounce back from the previous loss.

I just hope that Mark will exploit Figueroa's slow start and pile some points in the early rounds so that he will not panic in the championship rounds knowing that he is ahead in the scorecards and not look for that one punch knockout.

No movement is the odds so far though it is still the ML being offered on my favorite bookies.

Figueroa's trainer might got another way how to utilize the skill that he have because they both know that they cannot follow everything that Vargas has done to Magsayo when they first clashed with each other. They will just pick a thing or two from that fight that they think that could help Figueroa's skills to enhance his chances towards Magsayo. Let's just expect about it already as Vargas is not the same with Figueroa, so it's given that they will have a different kind of approach.
Both camp probably watched how these boxers fight and see if what they can do to improve their skills for their own advantage. It's possible that Figueroa's trainer might use how Vargas beat and dominate Magsayo knowing the weakness of the latter is already exposed.

We should not talk about how Figueroa will win because he is expected to win based on the betting odds. For those who have no idea about the betting odds of this fight, you can check online. Figueroa is the heavy favorite. So, I'm more concerned about how Magsayo will be able to get back on his usual winning path. In his last fight, he didn't look convincing enough. In order to attract the attention of the media, he needs to win via knockout.
