Although the fight is still very far, but I doubt think the odds are going to change. And if Magsayo shows up looking very sharp and focus then Vargas will be in trouble specially if he underestimate his Filipino opponent.

The way I'm seeing Vargas, he always looked up to his opponent and never underestimated anyone.

Vargas is a good match for the first title defense of Magsayo.

I always said even before that those doubters just have to wait for Magsayo to pulverize Vargas and be recognized more as a champion. I'm seeing a good journey on Magsayo and might become an undisputed champion at the FeatherWeight Division.

Hopefully he would do that, but it's still too early to tell, he has to convince us first and that is by winning this fight without a controversy. A KO would silent people who still have doubted his capacity, so he has to go for that.
Only in boxing fighting mode could prove from the current hard training, I think he will go the extra mile to defend his belt against his challenger Rey, I know that Magsayo has a champion mentality so I'm pretty sure he wins the match for a unanimous victory or even knockout, because his fans really want him to look spectacular in a prestigious boxing match.
Well, if he could find a space to pull a knockout victory then he should do it because as I said, that alone will be the best way to silent the people who doubts his capacity especially now that he needed some wins to continue in the industry and have much more great fight with good pay.

Even if it's a unanimous or split decision would be fine, the thing is he should be hailed as victorious here and before he can have that, he should go for a mile to make sure his win.

We always wanted to see a great fight that will end up in a knock out and hopefully it will be Magsayo who will accomplished it here.

Rey Vargas is a good fighter and others think that he will be the favorite. So imagine if an underdog Magsayo won by a spectacular one punch knock out. Fight fans for sure will remember his name and would gain stature as the premier fighter in this division.

When we expect a knockout, then most likely Magsayo will win because that's his specialty as a boxer. However, if the fight will go to distant, there's a possibility that Magsayo will lose because of his boxing style which is not so accurate, he would easily get tired in the end.

Hopefully, Magsayo will cover that too, he would definitely go for a knock out, but if it not present then he should have purse for another plan to win, maybe it will go to the judges score card.

So he and his team should anticipate any scenario that the fight will go to distance. And with that, train his stamina, he that he will not gas out specially in most important rounds.

Can’t see the odds yes but I go for Magsayo here, he looks sharp and focused which is a good sign for me.

As a bettor, if Magsayo is the underdog here then good for us bettors who want to place a bet. It's good that we will be able to place a bet for good odds while supporting and looking forward to him winning the match.

And this is the best thing for us who support Magsayo, he will be the underdog, then obviously he will be given a good us, and if he wins then we can say that they are all wrong putting him as the underdog in his fight with Vargas.

Although the fight is still very far, but I doubt think the odds are going to change. And if Magsayo shows up looking very sharp and focus then Vargas will be in trouble specially if he underestimate his Filipino opponent.

Others are looking down at Magsayo because they are not happy with his performance in his last fight. They think Gary Russell is an easy opponent even with an arm injury and expect he is just a piece of candy against Magsayo. The champion fought hard that's why Magsayo struggles to win and we should appreciate that the champion didn't give the challenger Magsayo an easy fight.

so he has a lot of convincing thing to do in this fight.

I don't understand the picture here. Let's make it clear.

For let's say Magsayo won this fight against Vargas but he ended up in heavy damage, does his win won't be convincing as it didn't reach your or anyone's expectations? If that's the case then we are just looking down at both boxers, first Magsayo's struggling to win and Vargas' ability that were supposed to defeat Magsayo without a problem.

You guys should understand that regardless of what these boxers went through to win, as long as they did their best, what kind of convincing do they need to do? If we saw them really fought hard then no question after all in the end.

It's like treating Magsayo's win as a joke if you or others question his way of winning like what happened against Gary Russel Jr.

Logically you are absolutely right, Mgsayo compared to Vargas, clearly Vargas has much more recognition in the world of boxing, and I like the analogy that has been made with Canel and with Bivol, there it is shown that many times favoritism and statistics they also fail and in a big way.

Magsayo, in the event that he can defeat Vargas, would be a feat and I am sure that many more interesting matches will come for him, Vargas has a lot to defend and a lot that he should not lose, this would cause the price of his fame and his sporting level to drop. a bit as to his reputation if he loses.
Numbers wont lie but it doesn’t mean that it corrects all the time, being famous doesn’t guarantee a win as well so I think Vargas should not be over confident here since he’s the challenger and Magsayo is also a great boxer. This is interesting as both still want to have a good recover, there are more to come for this two boxer but the result of this match can really affect their career especially with Vargas. Can’t see the odds yes but I go for Magsayo here, he looks sharp and focused which is a good sign for me.

but what do you think will be the odds here? i think, magsayo may be a lil bit favourite here as he is the title holder and vargas is a challenger. though we have seen the odds between canelo and bivol, where canelo is the heavy favourite even if he is the challenger, making bivol the underdog. so let's see what odds they will give on this match.

It should be Magsayo as a Favorite but I can't find a source yet. Much younger than 5 years than Vargas, currently in prime, undefeated, a champion, I know Vargas is a big name but Magsayo should be able to handle him contrary to what others are expecting.

Anyway, on that Canelo vs Bivol, the reason why Canelo becomes a favorite even as a challenger is because of the former's being an undisputed champion entering the light heavyweight compared to Bivol prior he faced Canelo, he is just doing a title defense.
Nah mate, I really don't expect that Magsayo will be listed as a favorite on this fight because his opponent is Rey Vargas who is also in his prime, undefeated, a former champion and much more experienced in the boxing industry compared to Magsayo who's just starting to build his name after getting impressive wins in his last few fights. Also, Vargas have the height and reach advantage, this will be going a challenge for Magsayo.

I think Magsayo will prepare stamina, defense pattern and whatever preparation he considers to cover all the shortcomings of every boxing match, I'm sure Magsayo is aware of his weak record from previous boxing fights so maybe for the next match he will deliver impressive wins.

Magsayo should convince us to win this fight without a controversy? What do you mean? Is it Magsayo's fault that he fought an injured Gary Russell Jr?

Should we just underrate his performance in that fight? Just because GRJ is injured, Magsayo is supposed to have an easy win on that fight? Everyone is wrong. GRJ is tough and if you expect Magsayo should have an easy fight during their fight, then you guys just degrade the capacity of GRJ.

Like I said, whether Magsayo struggles in the fight or wins, in the end, a win is a win.

I have to agree with you on that, though I would support Magsayo but I can't help but notice his weakness. He has the power but he doesn't have the head movement that most great boxers do have, and his last win is not impressive, so he has a lot of convincing thing to do in this fight.

I surely hope so, having a good defense against Vargas who is much taller than him will indeed be helpful because the latter's power shouldn't be underestimated. In terms of stamina, I know he can work for that because coach Freddie Roach is with him as well as the training needed. Defeating Vargas would be a good additional on his rapsheet and that record will help him get bigger fights in the future.

Mark game against Rey was huge differnce in it.Mark was the unique game towards the other player.Nearly 60 percentage of the people expecting the good fight from the Mark.Mark was just 26 and had huge body to face the other person. Some think, it take Mark to fit at 30 years. But the mental fit is needed in game.

The upcoming fight between Magsayo vs Vargas, is not a walk in the park. During his fight against Russel, was strong in the first seven rounds. But he ran out of gas. He should work on his stamina, head movement and closing the distance. From 8 round -12 rounds, Magsayo was no longer impressive. He could not take advantage, against a one arm pugilist.

I agree that a win is a win, but he will have to come up with big wins against name fighters to be in the discussion as the best featherweight because this division is stack up.

I think that doesn't necessarily even that Magsayo will win the fight. As long as he continues winning, he will recognize more soon.

As you said, we are talking about BIG NAMES here. Therefore, even though Magsayo struggles to win against those BIG NAMES, it's still a win.

And Magsayo doesn't have any control over choosing his next opponents. If he likes then he will just pick a BIG name. It was his promoter or the body title that chooses his match.

Yeah, but sooner or later if he started to have a winning run and defending his belts, there will be critics if him that he needs to step and fight name fighters.

I agree that a win is a win but if he can elevated his game every time that we fights, then maybe he will be the next Pacquiao or Donaire.

I think fighters have control of who they want to face next. They will have to sit down with their promoters and settle everything.

Next Pacquiao, no... maybe next Donaire, there's a possibility, but he has to have a decent win for him not to be criticize. We only have few Filipino champions now, Magsayo is one of them and  I hope he will continue to be an entertaining boxer, but of course winning the fights.

I think he tried to say Magsayo will in fit/prime condition when he already 30 years old, now he's currently 26... but I don't think 26 years old can't be said as prime in boxing since there's some professional boxer already good in their young ages e.g. Shakur Stevenson at 24 years old and included on top 10 best pound for pound. Some people said Vargas will be favorited in this match, but I'd think Magsayo will be favorited since he's more popular and active in the current professional boxing scene.

It would be a good thing for him if he will be the favorite and he gives the fans a fabulous win against Vargas. That would be a level up for him in his professional career and he will be given a worthy and a real challenge opponent soon if he does really win a knockout in this upcoming fight. It the worth thing mentioning is, that this is a good opportunity for him before turning to his prime because he is fighting in the USA where stronger opponents are gathered here.
