This will be his biggest challenge as of now if he's really worth it to be the champion or this is his end.

I agree with that, he became a champion because he won over an injured boxer, but this time his challenger is young and healthy so if he wins this, people will not doubt on him anymore, Magsayo has to win an impressive fight, and if that will happen, KO should be expected here.

Nevertheless, Vargas is first on his list being a defending champion in this weight class.

It's good that Vargas will be Magsayo's first match since being a champion because the former is really a big deal.

Magsayo as a champion should just take challenges from those who are on the top list of possible challengers to give him a good experience.

Surely, Magsayo is doing his best on preparations and maybe he's so excited now to defend his title for the first time as a champion.

I agree, he is indeed lucky to get a fight against Rey Vargas on his first time defending a belt. Vargas will make him more knowledgeable in the ring because Vargas has more experience than Magsayo, and that's what he should look into because he should get an experience by a win and not by a defeat because it's literally too early for him to be defeated when this is his first time defending as a champion.

Magsayo should be more prepared defending a title is really a tough challenge to every champion, one mistake will be leading you to ruin your career, it's a needed win to bring more hypes to his name and to challenge other big names from his division, I also agree that the man is excited in his upcoming fight, it's indeed a hard one since Vargas is also an experienced fighter and also eager to make his presence in his new chosen division, he will give tough fight for sure to Magsayo.

Yup, he already knew that and that's is also why he is been silent these days as he is already busy taking the day working out (though Magsayo rarely exposed himself in social media unlike Casimero, correct me if I'm wrong) and studying Varga's clips. With proper dedication will somehow help him face his first challenge as a champion. This will be his biggest challenge as of now if he's really worth it to be the champion or this is his end.

That being said, I believe that Mark Magsayo can do that job as he's hardworking, he's really determined and he doesn't talk a lot as he wants to put more action than talking. If he's consistent enough then time will come that he can put his name on this division as a King. Nevertheless, Vargas is first on his list being a defending champion in this weight class.
Magsayo should do his best to defend the belt, this is the first time he will defend the belt and of course we don’t want to see him giving up easily. Vargas is not an easy opponent, they are both good boxer so only those who are more focused and have a good strategy will win. Magsayo is still on a good position here, in just a month they will face each other and i hope Magsayo is more prepared for this.

I think Mark Magsayo can defend his belt successfully, Vargas may be hard to get past but I'm sure he can. Magsayo is indeed lucky to have Vargas as his first opponent as the latter can give him a challenge and perhaps some more experience too because Vargas has been in plenty of battles already. Also, I'm not worried about the Philippine pride because I know how dedicated he is. Anyway, I'm already excited to see the fight next month.

That's what we are expecting for Mark here, sure it's a big uphill to climb because as others said, Vargas has the physical advantage. But don't underestimate Filipino boxers, Mark is a champion and he knows what it takes to be one. So he will give his everything here and make the Filipino proud again.

Just another month and we will see, the last time I saw pictures of Mark, he looks very sharp so I will assume that he s in the middle of training and his team are pushing him to the limits because they know that this is a tough fight.

Magsayo and his team surely knows the capabilities and advantages of Vargas, I bet they already know the latter's tactics as he have more bouts than Magsayo. The team with coach Freddie Roach will help Magsayo achieve his much wanted success and will indeed push him into his limits because that's the only way to ensure the fight.

Vargas is also trained by one of the best in boxing, Nacho Beristain, the one that guided the career of great JMM who beat Roach then best boxer, Manny Pacquiao.

So I would say that there is still competition between the two as who is the best already both of them are already old but still very effective old school boxing trainer. So bragging rights is on the line for these two and so is their prize pupil. Maybe we can see Magsayo's improvement as he is about to get into the peak of his career and Vargas is not another hindrance of front of it that he can overcome.

Well, I guess Magsayo will likely win this fight more because coach Roach is pretty serious about this one as this will speak of his pride whilst training Magsayo. I would say that gives Magsayo more advantage because Manny Pacquaio was also trained by the same coach, and now the incoming rising star from the Philippines is again trained by Freddie Roach.

I also think the same because even though in this case Vargas is still slightly superior in terms of physicality, the endurance of Filipino fighters is sometimes not something to be taken lightly.
Mark has the edge in determination and this is something good enough to keep on guard.
on the other hand he in this case also wants to maintain power because indeed in this case Vargas is a challenger so it is certain that he will also play very clearly to defend the title he has now

I've seen a training video clip of Magsayo and he seems too prepared for this. Rey Vargas will surely be a big challenge for him but it will also be an opportunity for him to prove the stamina of the Filipinos in the boxing ring. He just have to make sure to focus on countering every punch of Vargas because he really has physical advantage but Magsayo is too determined. I could feel his eagerness to win this match.
But he also had to know that his opponent could be stronger than Mark thought. From any perspective, it is clear that Rey Vargas is far superior in terms of appearance, experience and physicality.
Mark must be able to prove that he is worthy now because this is a very good opportunity for him at this time to make his name shine even more. Their playing style is similar to the orthodox stance so they almost know what to do in July.

Natural if you have full faith in Mark Magsayo to be able to defend his belt next month, his boxing abilities make him one of the future Filipino boxers who may be the successor to pacquaio, a unanimous victory over Gary Russell made him the rightful holder of the WBC belt at this time this, but I think before you bet your money on that fight, better for you to look back at the statistics that Rey Vargas has so far, I think in this case Rey Vargas has a better record than Magsayo except he is younger and that's what why do I see if Vargas will win the match later by KO.
Mark Magsayo is indeed predicted to be the future boxer of the Philippines or the next pacquaio. sharp eyes in reading the movement of the opponent's punch made him a boxer who was able to give difficulties to the opponent when he wanted to land the right punch. The reach of the hand and the ingenuity in providing resistance at the corner of the ring deserves to be appreciated for Mark Magsayo. I think Pacquaio will be the training tactics teacher for the rest of the time before this game starts. I'm sure Vargas will have a hard time against Mark Magsayo in his defense of his first WBC featherweight title.

One more month to witness this fight, another good challenge for Magsayo knowing that the challenger is capable of beating him if he will not be ready during the fight, for sure him and his camp is not stopping in finding the right sets of combinations to counter whatever strategy/fighting style Vargas may have, it's important to condition his body and his mindsets to calculate well every body movements from both his defense and offense attacks.
One month before the match, both boxers prepare their respective strategies from analyzing several opponent techniques in the previous match, reading the opponent's most dominant technique used in boxing for defensive and attacking techniques, although every boxer will find strategy opportunities during the match but prepare strategies before competing is great preparation for a chance of victory.

Anyway, he still have a lot to prove before he can be a star like his predecessors and maybe coach Freddie Roach could teach him a new thing or two.

That will come step by step. Slowly but surely. As long as Magsayo continues to win, even how hard that fight is, he will slowly build his name on the top. It's been a while since we a PH Champion are dominating the FeatherWeight division. I hope Magsayo will stay here and defend his title for at least 2 to 3 fights before considering moving up a weight class.

There are big names that he can target in the LightWeight division if ever Magsayo finished all his tasks on the Featherweight and proves he's the King here.

It's still a long journey for Magsayo to become undisputed on featherweight division, if he win in this match, I think he has enough power to beat Josh Warrington to get IBF belt. Leo Santa Cruz and Emanuel Navarrete are to big for Magsayo.

And yet they put Haney as the favorite even though Haney has a weak chin to begin with and then obviously doesn't have the knock out power. Maybe those sport bookies see something that us boxing fans tend to ignore or doesn't look at.
I don't think Haney has a weak chin if he can defend his belts for 4 times, yes he doesn't have knock out power because he's a counter puncher and a technical boxer. He's not like an aggressive boxer who want to fully 100% beat his opponent, but he prefer to play safe and won via decision.
