The thing with Vargas, he has defended his WBC super bantamweight belt five times before deciding to move up in weight to face Magsayo which could make him the favorite to win this fight in the bookies IMO.
What's the natural weight of this guy?
He is at age 31 now, I think 122 is his natural weight class because he could have moved up at an early age if he is a natural 126 weight class.
He could be more skilled but moving up may weaken his power punches and speed. Not to mention his stamina
I don't think the punching power will weaken if one is to move up, but rather naturally heavier opponent has more resistance to it. And yes it makes sense that Vargas will move slower due to added masses (weight gain) unless he gets used to the weight before the fight commence.
I have seen one of Magsayo's fight before. I think he still lacks in the skills department but his punches has real power. He was losing that fight but he only needed one or two punches to KO his opponent.
Yeah, Magsayo indeed has real power but often times he makes himself open to a counter attack when he throws punches.
A tough challenge by both boxers - Mark Magsayo is against a tough opponent from the Bantamweight while Rey Vargas is up against a Champion.
Well, since Magsayo's performance when he got the belt isn't that convincing, he needs to win this fight to prove that he is really a "Champion". I hope Magsayo's camp comes up with a really good training routines and strategy on this. Sorry for that, being a Filipino makes me partially biased in wishing who will win the fight.
