I am glad they showed sportsmanship in the end. Ryan congratulated Tank and he said he really respected him and that might be one of the reasons why he lose. He respected him too much, he said.
Both boxers did a good job by using social media as their promotion venue, I bet they made quite a lot of money because of that.
After all, this is all just a sports game and nothing personal because they get up there to show the world who's the strongest boxer that night and the result was amazing because as most fans expected it to happen. It's better luck next time for Garcia and he should probably fight some boxers that are not at Davis's level if he wanted to slowly recover and get back inside the ring with confidence after suffering from his first lost.
I'm curious now if Ryan Garcia will continue test his luck in super-light because it already seems that 130 pounds is not for him, because if he can't get through Davis then it is somehow assumable that he can't also defeat the current undisputed, Devin Haney and the guys under him. That was a good acid test for Ryan Garcia, he still deserve some credit because it's really not easy confronting the Tank Davis.
If you happen to watch the post interview of Ryan Garcia, he stated that he plans to move on to 140 lbs. It is plain to see that his physical growth cannot sustain his current weight division so he needs to move up in order to maximize his potential.
Ryan Garcia still needs a lot to be a force to reckon on the upper division. His recent fight shows that he is still not that experienced in taking elite fighters. He still needs a lot of experience and trained many skills to have a good chance of dominating the competition. Davis had exposed his weakness so it is better for Garcia to add more skills to his arsenal. He should work for varieties of punches, movement, ring IQ and many more. Boxing is not only dominated by physical advantage but also by tactical strategy (see Mayweather).
He just fell in love with his one punch knock out, which is the left hook. But Davis took it and play good defense. So yes, he really exposed weaknesses of Ryan and it was not even address though. I mean he still doesn't have that head and foot movement. I guess it's hard to teach old dogs a new trick.
Nevertheless, he already says that 140 lbs is his next target, so we will see if he can fit there. Recently it was Teo Lopez who moved up to that weight class and will challenge Josh Taylor for the belt. So there's a lot of dog fighters as well in 140 lbs that will make his moving up in weight a difficult one because of those elite fighters waiting for him.
