Like what many predicted Davis won via TKO via a liver punch he sneak that liver punch just when Ryan is holding in, I just knew its a matter of time before that counter punch, Ryan is too careless and very aggressive to hit, and land his left hook but unfortunately, Davis is good at this he has a good lateral movement and ring generalship to weathered Ryan's attack.
There may be a rematch but definitely Tank has better skill in the ring, he can get his punches in while Ryan is having a hard time landing his left hook.

I thought it was not a strong punch but he did hit him in the right spot. The Round 2 knockdown punch from Tank Davis was really amazing and I think that's where the pace of the fight changed. Suddenly, Garcia had been throwing punches lesser unlike what he did in Rounds 1 and 2. Davis's body punches may have also helped to soften the body of Garcia, he did throw a lot on that section.

It's a wrap.
Ryan Garcia will become a better boxer, there's no doubt about that. This is just another lesson that he will add to his experience. It will affect him mentally but he should get over it and he is young, and there's still room for improvement, especially in that big body of his.

Tank Davis 7th round win. 10 counts. Just like how he predicted it. That was absolutely worth watching.

It ended in a way that we didn't expect... or at least I didn't expected. I expect a head punch to knock him out, but a liver shot really did it.

There really was a bit of a delay unto his reaction before kneeling down, and can't beat the count. I think it was around 5 seconds of delay before him getting knocked down. I like the aggressiveness of Garcia coming into the second round to pressure Davis, but his carelessness got him, and got knocked down by a left hook in that same round as well which I didn't expect as well. That was his second knockdown since Campbell knocked him down for the first time. He adjusted in the mid part of the game, focusing more on his right hand, but he really got shot in the liver.

Davis on the other hand is like Mayweather, with a bit aggressive style. He's good at defending, he's lightning fast hands makes him a good counter puncher, his IQ inside the ring is one of the highest, his punch has so much power in it. I mean you name it. Davis deserves to be the face of the boxing really because of how good he is. He might be trash talking, but his performance backs it up unlike others who are just good at trash talking. Davis predicted that he will finish the fight in the 7th or 8th round. He really did it.

There may be a rematch but definitely Tank has better skill in the ring, he can get his punches in while Ryan is having a hard time landing his left hook.
After being dominated, I don't think that Garcia will try, and request a rematch against him. I mean I also thought that a rematch after this one is possible, but after looking at that one-sided match, it would be better for Garcia to just forget about it. He just got demolished big time in this fight TBH.

Not much action in the first round, maybe neither boxers don't want to commit mistakes attacking that could cost them the fight.

Hope this would not end in a snore feast.

edit:
there you go, Garcia overcommitted and made the mistake that Davis is waiting thus causing the knockdown.

Damn, that left hook of Davis, right on the pipe of Ryan.

But Ryan was able to get up from the canvass, his chin has been tested again but was able to recover very quickly.

I still have Davis winning the first 4 rounds, 3-1 with round 2, 10-8 scoring.

Edit: It's over, Davis with that huge body shot in round seven. Ryan take a knee but can't get up in time.

Same body shot that Linares took from Loma that the former never got up.
Davis was just too much for Garcia in that fight, just like I said, he was only taller but if you look at them, Davis was the bigger boxer which eliminates the only advantage that Garcia had in that fight.

The only thing that I admire about Garcia is that he can get up after a solid knockdown, he just needs to work that body so he can be like Manny Pacquaio. He will campaign I think in the welterweight division where the big boys are waiting for him hehe.

I think no rematch on this fight as a rematch will only happen if Davis will lose but him dominating the small Garcia, i don't think they will do it again on that catchweight of 136 lbs.

I'll go with Ryan with this time, before I'm still struggling on who I will choose between the two but I already came up that I will choose Ryan between the two. Good to see that 2 superstars of boxing will have a match tomorrow. I'm very excited to look forward to their match. A lot of analyst said that this match is a battle between power puncher and lightning punches. Tank is really great fighter but as for my analysis, Ryan has an advantage between the two boxers.

The odds of Ryan before reached 4.0x odds but not it goes down 2.6x odds. Everyone in the boxing community are now looking forward to this great match. Actually I already placed bet to Ryan but I only put the money that I can afford to lose because I understand that everything can happen and Ryan is still underdog. If I win then it is good, If I lose; it is still good because I only bet the money that I'm willing to lose. Goodluck to all bettors out there. Ryan may win this match  Tongue

I'll go for Tank, Tank has 12 title fights and Ryan is fighting for his first title shot, Tank knows the pressure inside a championship fight, he's been there and done that, and will do it again, we have their weigh-in hours ago and I have never been excited in a fight because so much is at stake here I'm sure it will live up to the hype.
Both fighters are totally hyped during the weigh-in, everybody here I'm sure will not going to miss this one as it is three or four years in the making, and now they finally going to face each other in the ring.

GERVONTA DAVIS VS RYAN GARCIA • HEATED FULL WEIGH IN & FACE OFF VIDEO!

In this heated face off, I cannot stop looking and shake my head on what Oscar dela Hoya was wearing hehehe. Is it hot there in that place? It appears he is wearing a sweater but with the cloth used is something similar to black stockings .

When it comes to boxing, the chin and ability to take punches are very important, imagine Ryan getting a knock down from a fighter who's not known to have a knockout power, it tells how bad your chin is, Tank will go for the chin, it is Ryan's vulnerable part.

But let's think about it, for most fights of Ryan Garcia, his chin is always exposed but still got a decent record and knockdown rate up to this point. I know we can't compare Ryan's previous opponents to Tank Davis but still, some of those are tough boxers and not joke opponents.

Tank might target Ryan's chin, as you said it's his vulnerable part, but it's impossible for me to think that the latter is not prepared and aware of that.

For sure, defense tactics and strategies will take place and be executed to somehow protect that disadvantage of Ryan Garcia.

From forum users/gamblers, they are rooting for Tank here, as well as bookies favoring Davis.
We don't know what kind of performance they will show inside the ring but it is indeed a legacy fight for both.
As Garcia knows the sentiments of the boxing community, this can very well give him good reason to prepare hard on this fight.
He already skipped a tune-up fight, so more than likely, he is seriously preparing on this one.
But of course, we can't disregard Davis' preparation. It is now how they will use their training inside the ring.

If you're a boxing fan you can easily relate, to who is a better fighter, Gervonta has 12 title fights and is a three-division weight Champion, something Ryan does not have and wanting to be, he is calling out Gervonta for years because Tank is achieving a lot and not avoiding fighters, even Tyson thinks that Tank can beat Ryan.

GERVONTA DAVIS VS RYAN GARCIA • HEATED FULL WEIGH IN & FACE OFF VIDEO!

Same here  Grin.

Team Davis was so wise enough that they have taken out the advantages of Ryan Garcia if they were to fight, I mean that size advantage was no longer there plus the fact that Garcia has never fought in this kind of fight in his whole career. But if an upset would happen (for me is unlikely) then it is very embarrassing for Davis because if we look at their record, Davis has fought more than 10 title fights to none for Garcia.

The only thing I'm hoping for here is that this fight would last 12 rounds.

That's tempting and if Davis will play safe, then we might see this outcome, we know how smart Davis was and if he see that Garcia might hit him hard he will avoid that confrontations and will focus with good strategy, it's more on how both fighters will adjust with each other, I mean both are eager to win but those words from their mouths during the interview might not happen as they are going to focus with how they will going to win the fight.

Good Luck! If you'll manage to win that bet which is not by far, both fighters are aiming to win whatever the process a win still a win!

With the heated conference, it'd be disappointing to see no one falls down to the floor. I wouldn't mind which but all I want is a good fight to remember because of a satisfying KO.

I don't see it necessary to spy on each other since they both could see their previous fights so what is Ryan saying that Davis sends a spy to his training gym?

Davis also says Ryan only has a hook for him. With statement like this, he might underestimate Ryan.
I don't see this one ending in a decision because both fighters are known and capable to knock out opponents with one big punch the knockout records of both fighters are above average, but Ryan's chin is questionable and will be Tank's target and Ryan is a flat-footed fighter making him an easy target, but it will go down on who can land a big punch at the right spot.
There's so much expectation in this fight, and this fight is both fighter's legacy fight because this is a fight where both will encounter
a fighter that can possibly beat him.
I'll go for Tank in this fight, Ryan is good but Tank is a total fighter in the ring and he has such a good ring generalship and he can take big punches.

Tank Davis is correct on saying that Ryan Garcia has a problem with fundamentals, and no matter how much advantage in physical attributes i a boxer is if he is missing on fundamentals, he will end up kissing the canvas when facing a more technical hard puncher boxer.  Rayn Garcia should be thankful to Davis at this conference because Davis is already exposing Ryan Garcia's weakness that he needs to patch.

Anyway, that was an interesting final press conference, both boxers still adding fire and hype to the incoming match.

Both promising to broke each other jaw and Ryan wanted it quick.

If Ryan Garcia heeds Tank Davis' advice and works on his fundamental implementing jobs, straight and good footwork, he might get Davis KO in early round.  I do not think hook punches is more effective than Straight in taking advantage of reach.  Capitalizing on hook punches may make Ryan open since for a hook punch to land, Ryan needs to move closer to Davis which is pretty much a comfortable distance for Davis to do his antiques.

That's no secret though, even Ryan admitted that years ago that he doesn't have the movement, but he is still winning so maybe that's why he didn't change his style. And most likely this is where Ryan is comfortable even with his amateur days.

So there's no need to listen to Tank advice, on the contrary it's not a advice it's a flaw that he wanted to tell everyone, so take that as a sarcasm and not like giving him a big bro advice, they've promised to take each others head off tomorrow night.
I just finished reading an article about the "fundamentals" thing. Tank Davis also said that if he touches Ryan Garcia's jaw he is going to sleep, or worse he may probably break it. Well, I don't doubt that. It could happen and Davis has the power to do so. I just don't like the cockiness because the same goes when Garcia touches his jaw, he will probably sleep too.
This is why this fight had been debated all over social media because both boxers have the power punch that could end the fight in one haymaker.
And you are right @Dave1, it's not advice, it is a sarcastic statement. He said it too during their press conference that Garcia has nothing more but his left hook. Again, it means he lacks fundamentals.
We will see, 1 more day for us in our timeline, hours in Eastern Time.

They all talk this way because it adds dollars in theor pocket.  Most of these fighters aren't even that contentious with each other but that makes for good TV.  If they were both friendly with each other there is no build up.  All this talk gets people on one side or another.  Gonna be a good fight either way.  Can't wait to see it.

I'm pretty sure people won't be bored and they will be glued to their seats for the entire fight as every round could be explosive.
However, they might be disappointed as this fight could end very quickly, possibly within the first three rounds if both fighters start aggressively, since we know they are both capable of knocking each other out. This is a championship fight between two undefeated boxers, so it's unlikely to be a one-sided beatdown, even though Tank Davis is heavily favored.

It might end that way if both will show their aggressiveness and will try to box one another, it can end up in the early rounds.

But for me, I like it that way if both will start strong and aggressive, meaning to say that they both take one another as serious as it should be.

A good respect and a good way of showing one another that they are not afraid and they want to bring them down.

I believe Ryan Garcia won't settle for a toe-to-toe fight because he will be in the disadvantage side as we already know that his chin is not that sturdy enough to to receive powerful blows especially from Tank Davis who is also a KO artisan. It will be wise enough for both camps mainly Ryan Garcia to wait for an error before he gives a counter as he will likely make some mistakes if he will be the aggressor.

In the press conference, Goosen says that they have a strategy A and strategy B, so we don't know what it is until the fight itself. It could be Ryan going toe to toe and be the aggressor because of his height, or laid back and try to wait for Davis to make that one mistake that will give him the opportunity to counter with his left hook.

So really hard to see, a lot of scenario's can play into this fight and it's like going to be a chess match between this two young fighters. Both are very confident that this fight is not going to distance though, meaning someone is going to sleep.

Oscar Dela Hoya firing the first shot and asking if Tank is really that confident to win this fight because he has asked for a catch weight and then the rehydration clause and he says that Ryan is not a diva so they give in to all his request here. Oscar though might have forgotten the rematch clause as another sticking point.

Nevertheless it seems that Oscar is just goating the camp of Tank because the response of Ellerbe and Calvin Murphy is straight to the point. And both saying that they are going to knock each other out and so this is a must watch for all of us and for sure some of us already put a bet.

Nah, what Oscar is trying to do was an already an old trick in the book and it is not the very first time where the promoters had to take some action just to mess the opposite camp.
For me, that just shows how fearful they are on this fight because even Oscar is already firing some shots just to protect Ryan Garcia who is too valuable for him and too vulnerable of any words, he just can't afford to see Garcia's value depreciating if a loss will happen. Whatever he says, Tank Davis is still confident because they are in the advantage.

Just look at Tank Davis, he didn't even

Well, yes, that was just a sarcasm meant to highlight or repeat Ryan Garcia's flaws.

Ryan Garcia will not be bothered by it even if it will come from any respectable boxers in any division because he is confident enough to trust his own style and the talent that he has as that's what made him come this far and kept him to be undefeated. For amateurs, he is already advance enough but in professional fights like this, he should improve more because he's just like an open book to the others, especially the champions.

Anyway, few hours to go!
