Glad that finally they have made the first step to make this fight happen but I think this is not the last obstruction as Tank Davis will be facing trial in February if my memory serves me right and per report, the chance of being imprisoned for six months to one year is very likely so if that happens, this fight will be scrapped or postponed to another date.
Yes, he has certain problems, if I'm not mistaken, he has not yet figured out the consequences of 2020, when he was accused of leaving the scene of the accident, and now this incident with a woman. On February 16, there will be a trial, it should last 2 days, and I didn’t think that everything is as serious as you say, where did you get such information that he could go to jail? I haven't seen any information anywhere that this can happen.

Finally, we don't need to worry anymore that this fight was only pure hype. Now, it is already official as they already signed a contract, so let's all be excited for one of the biggest fight this year. Maybe they are starting to train now, getting in shape, and hoping they'll be 100% in the actual fight.

I'm looking at the poll result now, there's more voters favored Davis to win, well, I'm on the other side.  Smiley

I consider this a legacy fight between the two fighters, before this coming fight there are no boxers on each other resume that match the power and skill of both fighters, hopefully, this will be the start of a blockbuster year in boxing, where undefeated champions with equal skills fight each other regardless of their promotions.
This fight will not happen if Mayweather is still the manager of Tank, he did the right thing in getting rid of Mayweather who just wants to milk Tank by fighting low-level fighters.

Finally, the last obstruction to make this happen is cleared as Dela Hoya posted on social media the contract of the Ryan - Davis fight, so glad that they did not make this another Spence - Crawford scenario, this is the biggest fight coming in April I'm eager to see their press conference and their face off and what they are going to say to each other.

Ok so we are good to go now, at least it didn't turn out to be another Spence and Crawford debacle wherein we thought that the fight is already 100% until in the last minute wherein there is no actual contract and Crawford point the gun to the camp of Spence as the one who doesn't want the fight to happen.

Only thing that will postponed this fight is Davis court hearing, but let's see. Hopefully the judge will allow him to fight Ryan Garcia first before handling any prison sentence if there is such a case against Tank hit and run.

He is really confident to give his fighter the fight he wants and unlike Bob Arum, you won't see him taking some risk like this one he is only giving his boxers some unentertaining fight or we may say a one-sided fight because he was cherry-picking their opponent. Luckily Ryan Garcia is in Golden Boy promotion and this is the time they really gained the fan's respect because once again they are allowing this fight to happen without any delay or drama. Since they are both in their respective prime, I'm sure this won't be their last fight no matter what the result of the fight is.
We boxing fans want rematches and trilogies but so much depends on the first fight, if the first fight is totally dominated by one fighter, I don't think there is a need for a rematch, because the action on the rematches always takes off from where the fighter left if the fight between Ryan and Tank is close and ended in a decision or the match is too close until a knockout or a TKO occur, then there's a possibility of a rematch, it depends if the fans want another rematch but right now the focus is on this fight.

Yes, I also see that way, after the fight take place we will expect a rematch, whoever be the winner the challenger will aim to have
another shot in trying his luck to take a revenge.

If fans will be entertained with their performances, for sure we will see more attendance and tickets sales,
more on the money side once the executions of the fight take place.

Expect a good rivalry after they come up inside the ring and showcase both their talents.

When it comes to defense, I'll go with tank davis. His footwork is so good that he dodged a lot of punches from his last fight between him and hector garcia. His punch is so powerful that bigger opponents can't take the damage in their body. I don't know if Ryan has a body that can take the punch of Tank but he is an orthodox fighter and he has a crazy fast hooks and jabs. He dropped Javier Fortuna with his crazy jabs. The hook of King Ryan is also powerful so we should expect that we can see hooks vs hooks between him and Tank.
Hector Garcia is too slow on that's fight, he can't predict which side Tank will punch him, that's why he get many punches landed on his face and his promoter stopped the fight since Garcia complaining about his eyesight.

Ryan Garcia once fall when he was fight with Luke Campbell, so it's proving if Garcia doesn't have a tough chin. Tank just need to play like this to beat Ryan Garcia, fast and unpredictable, it will shock Ryan Garcia.
Both are close fighters, their accuracy is their premium talent, and both are young with a chance of one punch KO. I think we will see knockdowns happen but they will fight back. Like that time Ryan Garcia was knocked down by Campbell, he went back up and ended it with a liver punch that made Campbell unable to stand up.
He must be more aggressive here though as he is the challenger. While the Tank starts slow, the strategy could be to not let him have an opening. More attacks, and get that haymaker land as early as possible. I am worried Garcia's chin won't be able to handle Davis' hook though.

The power though of Campbell is way below Tank's level, so imagine if Tank caught up Ryan with that left hook, gonna be good night for Ryan as I doubt that he can get up from the power of Davis.

On the other hand, Tank was hit by Hector Garcia in his last fight, and if that is Ryan Garcia it could also ended up in a different outcome.

So we will see which one with landed that first left hook and what will be the reaction.

If we're talking and would bet about who got a much tougher chin, my vote will of course be going for Gervonta Davis for sure because that's already proven. Now I know that Tank Davis haven't had a bad hit in his career that can match with Ryan Garcia's left hook but I'm almost certainly sure that Tank Davis can somehow withstand or shake it off, but if it's the latter? I don't think he can shake it off that easily, Campbell's punch almost gave him a good night sleep, how much more if it was Tank's.

It's really hard to see though, Tank is really very cautious not to get hit, but I think throughout his career, he has been touch by many boxers but the same, not as powerful as Ryan Garcia's left hook that's why he was still standing and never been knockdown in his career. So it will be first time for both and we can speculate how will they react if they got hit and who is going to be the first one to land that clean shot.

It appears that Tank vs. King Ry will end very much similar to Crawford vs. Spence. They avoid each other because they are afraid that losing would affect their attractiveness to promoters and lower their demanding price during contract negotiations. This is very bad for the fans and very bad for the sport of boxing. The best boxers should be fighting against the other best boxers. Boxing's only chance for the greatest superfights on 2023 might only be from Naoya Inoue.

I don't know if both are being really protected by their promoters, or the boxers themselves are afraid to have their 0 gone. We've seen a lot of great boxers, who lost their 0 and yet still the cash cow, for instance Canelo Alvarez or even Manny Pacquaio. I think still boils down to money and the purse split and which network are going to carry this fight.

I agree, however, not all boxers can have similar careers as Canelo and Pacman and look at who Canelo and Pacman fought. Also, whatever happens Canelo and Pacman have become known names already. I reckon Tank and King Ry are not much known outside the world of boxing.

In any case, the skeptical me thinks that this ultimatum is Golden Boy's trick to withdraw from the deal. The reason, yes, I said it already. Golden Boy can make more money from Ryan Garcia with an undefeated record than with a loss in his record.

Yes, it could be a trick by Golden Boy to force Tank and his handlers for a sign deal. But they also have this experience as well, with Al Haymon at the top of it. So it's not as easy as it sound for Golden Boy to go into public and issue an ultimatum.

Let's see what the other party will do, for us there is not need to delay this fight again.

We want been hype with this one since last year and by now we should have at least some info as where the fight is going to be.

What Al Haymon? Did Tank Davis recently signed a contract under PBC? If so, that ultimatum that Golden Boy provided in his social media won't really work because we already know how Al Haymon works and Oscar might not want to provoke Al Haymon as his cow's preparation might be wasted because Tank's side might suddenly pull out.
You can interpret this link:

Quote
Davis’ remarks doubled down on the official communication around his upcoming bout with Garcia. The only reference made to promoters is to TGB Promotions, which promotes many of Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions events, and Davis’ own company, GTD Promotions.

So Al Haymon's name is still there in my opinion. So what happen to Oscar's ultimatum? it looks like the time has passed already?

Will this be another fight in jeopardy and we might not see this one as well like the Spence/Crawford fight?

That's very unfair, they are making it a business at the highest level, it makes boxing not fun anymore because champions will just have to cherry-pick their opponents and win easily. No much risk, for the champion, he can maybe make a small amount of money compared to fighting a champion but at least that money could come consistently due to his value.

And each one says things to himself in his own way:

Hector Garcia says he’ll beat Tank Davis by being “smarter fighter”

That has not to be told, it's already given, I mean you need to be smart in order to win the fight. This isn't his first fight, I'm pretty sure he is using his intelligence everytime he stepped up in the ring. The question here, what if Tank Davis is still smarter than him, then how can he beat Davis?
A fighter needs to be smarter than the other so he can make an edge over the other, and that is everyone’s goal in the ring. But we all know who’s smarter and fiercer between the two. However, if Ryan will eventually improve his craft by boosting his performance level, and become the toughest, he might eventually win over Tank Davis. But that will take a lot of time to realize that’s why Ryan should definitely prepare much for this match.

Of course, there are many fans who leave because the boxer can look a little stronger, bigger and can say hurtful things about his opponent, but if I recognize that boxing has a large percentage of the smartest boxer winning, there is no more. What to realize with Mayweather, he was a boxer who used his mind a lot to win the most difficult fights, even against the great Pacquiao, sometimes they are fights that look quite boring, but they are very good, and even if it is our displeasure, because they manage to his objectives, and that is what a boxer is looking for, to win at all costs, the important thing is to continue adding victories.

Tim Bradley hoping Ryan Garcia KOs Gervonta Davis

By Jack Tiernan: Tim Bradley wants Ryan Garcia to KO Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis in their possible April 15th fight. The former two-division world champion Bradley, heading for the boxing Hall of Fame, isn’t a fan of Tank Davis (28-0, 26 KOs), chiefly because of his past legal problems. In an interview last weekend, Bradley says the WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion Tank Davis is a “piece of s**t” because of his domestic disputes, and he wants Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs) to knock the 28-year-old down a peg

On the flipside though, and we should also take this into consider, on the second week of February, Gervonta Davis will have to appear in court for his 14 misdemeanor motor vehicle violations 2 years ago. I think this will have a big effect whether this fight will push through or not in April as it will entail Davis to have jail time for a hit and run case.

That's being greedy, they know that once a boxer losses and will not be able to come back, their career might be over early. These two are still young, the have the potential to retire undefeated, but are they not thinking that boxing are entertainment? If champions and undefeated boxers will all act like that, then this boxing industry will die sooner or later.

^ I also saw this news and I was confused because I thought that the two camps have already agreed in principle to have the fight in April right?

So it means there are no contract yet and that it is all public stunt between the two to lead us to believed that indeed the two are going to fight each other and then Tank severing his ties with Floyd seems to be a good signal that the fight is going to push through, but it seems that this is another Crawford - Spence mess.

I was hoping that it will not turn into another Spence - Crawford scenario but much to our surprise there's no contract to deal with we are all taken for a ride again, we don't know who is telling the truth, Gervonta in his interview after the win announce that he is looking forward on their April meeting in the ring.
And Ryan Garcia keeps taunting Gervonta and bragging that he will knock out Garcia, they have the nerve to say this when there is actually no contract existing, and now they have a lot of explaining to do.
