^ I also saw this news and I was confused because I thought that the two camps have already agreed in principle to have the fight in April right?

So it means there are no contract yet and that it is all public stunt between the two to lead us to believed that indeed the two are going to fight each other and then Tank severing his ties with Floyd seems to be a good signal that the fight is going to push through, but it seems that this is another Crawford - Spence mess.

It appears that Tank vs. King Ry will end very much similar to Crawford vs. Spence. They avoid each other because they are afraid that losing would affect their attractiveness to promoters and lower their demanding price during contract negotiations. This is very bad for the fans and very bad for the sport of boxing. The best boxers should be fighting against the other best boxers. Boxing's only chance for the greatest superfights on 2023 might only be from Naoya Inoue.

Oscar De La Hoya publicly issued an ultimatum early Sunday morning.

Ryan Garcia’s promoter stated through his Twitter account that he has not yet received Garcia’s contract for his pay-per-view showdown with Gervonta Davis. According to De La Hoya, if they don’t get a contract from Davis’ handlers by Monday, he will begin looking for another opponent for Garcia’s next fight.

“I have no contract,” De La Hoya wrote. “Deadline for me is Monday or I’m moving on.”

Ryan Garcia once fall when he was fight with Luke Campbell, so it's proving if Garcia doesn't have a tough chin. Tank just need to play like this to beat Ryan Garcia, fast and unpredictable, it will shock Ryan Garcia.

I agree. We all know that both of them are vicious strikers on their own accord and can be explosive and unpredictable at the same time. The only edge that one can have over the other is who can take more power punches without feeling the hit, or at least carry the pain far longer and power through the bout. Tank Davis' chin is built like steel, and he can take direct hits and shrug it off pretty easily. Whereas Ryan Garcia is quick to his feet and can deliver punches, but is not known to take hits like a champ.

More than likely, Garcia knew this weakness, he should know what strategy he needs to play when their match happens.
But it seems that I am inclining more on Davis here to win the fight as he had a good tune-up fight before Garcia.
I won't be surprised if the odds will favor Davis on this match. Their odds may be near with each other.

Most boxing fans think Davis has the upper hand.  Experience, toughness, and skills except for reach and height advantage.  Even AI predicts that Davis has 66.6% chance of winning and the rest of Ryan Garcia.  But of course, we really never know the answer until the two fighters meet in the ring.

In my own opinion, I am also incline to think that Davis has the advantage and may knock out Ryan Garcia if Davia capitalized on the weakness exposed by Campbell.

When it comes to defense, I'll go with tank davis. His footwork is so good that he dodged a lot of punches from his last fight between him and hector garcia. His punch is so powerful that bigger opponents can't take the damage in their body. I don't know if Ryan has a body that can take the punch of Tank but he is an orthodox fighter and he has a crazy fast hooks and jabs. He dropped Javier Fortuna with his crazy jabs. The hook of King Ryan is also powerful so we should expect that we can see hooks vs hooks between him and Tank.
Hector Garcia is too slow on that's fight, he can't predict which side Tank will punch him, that's why he get many punches landed on his face and his promoter stopped the fight since Garcia complaining about his eyesight.

Ryan Garcia once fall when he was fight with Luke Campbell, so it's proving if Garcia doesn't have a tough chin. Tank just need to play like this to beat Ryan Garcia, fast and unpredictable, it will shock Ryan Garcia.
Both are close fighters, their accuracy is their premium talent, and both are young with a chance of one punch KO. I think we will see knockdowns happen but they will fight back. Like that time Ryan Garcia was knocked down by Campbell, he went back up and ended it with a liver punch that made Campbell unable to stand up.
He must be more aggressive here though as he is the challenger. While the Tank starts slow, the strategy could be to not let him have an opening. More attacks, and get that haymaker land as early as possible. I am worried Garcia's chin won't be able to handle Davis' hook though.

The power though of Campbell is way below Tank's level, so imagine if Tank caught up Ryan with that left hook, gonna be good night for Ryan as I doubt that he can get up from the power of Davis.

On the other hand, Tank was hit by Hector Garcia in his last fight, and if that is Ryan Garcia it could also ended up in a different outcome.

So we will see which one with landed that first left hook and what will be the reaction.

That's what you call recuperation time, there are boxers that can recover from  knock out or flash knockout differently. Others recover fast such as Ryan although there's not much power behind the punch of Campbell. And then we have the likes of Fury, who was knock out by Wilder in the first fight and we thought that it was done already. But surprisingly, he was able to get back in his feet and finished the match. So we ought to see which one has the better chin if either one of them hit each other flush in the face.

We never know. I think we can see Davis as a Wilder who is a KO artist, and Garcia as Fury who was an underdog on his first fight against Wilder. Wilder hit him good but he was able to stand up, so maybe Ryan Garcia has the some strength as Fury.

It's hard to predict the winner but it's easy to predict if this game will be boring or not. Of course it will not be boring as both are power punches, they don't run, they want action.

There is someone who I have always said, boxing, despite the fact that it has a lot to do with physicality, can be won but obtaining a lot of intelligence, and I have known that for a long time, and here in the forum they have let me know, nothing else I can do Name a fairly intelligent boxer like Mayweather, the day he fought Pacquiao, I didn't like that fight because I knew he was running all over the ring and Pacquiao was just looking for him, 'Mayweather only fought in a very technical way and That made him win, even though for me it was the worst fight in the world, years later I came to understand that Mayeweather knew that his best option was not a hand-to-hand confrontation, because he might have lost, but on a technical level he had the advantage .

Aside from Mayweather's advantage when it comes to technicalities, he also got a good defense that enables him to create a counter punch every time that he's engaged. The fact that he mastered the Philly Shell makes him already an intelligent boxer, and I think that's what makes Devin Haney to practice under Mayweather even if he's not under his promotional banner.

And I agree, that fight was even dubbed as a fight of the century but what we saw was not really enticing and that the fight labeled like that was somehow inappropriate. People wanted an all-out fight and if that happened, Pacquiao will surely win but Mayweather was clever enough to despite the pressure around him.

Haney has that defensive skills as well, might not look very polished as like the Mayweather because you have to understand that his uncle Roger was one of the first to used this Philly Shell that was pass on Floyd by his uncle and his father trainer, so we could say that he perfect this defensive stance that others just wanted to copy from him but failed. So for sure Tank knows this from Floyd himself when he was under his promotional company and we can see some of it on his stance in his last couple of fights.

No doubt about that, Tank Davis surely learned a thing or two when he was still under Floyd Mayweather's promotional company that's why he saw some instances that Tank used the said stance in his previous fights. Also, Philly Shell is indeed a vicious defense and a kind of stance that allows the boxer to create such good counter that will shake their opponent or worse, knock them out because it's known for its unpredictability.

Gervonta Davis psychologically better equipped to defeat Ryan Garcia says Eddie Hearn

Indeed, Tank Davis is pretty much psychologically better than Ryan Garcia. I have no doubt about that!

Golden Boy prepared Garcia well before he gives his Go signal to fight a champion and this time, they really needed a closer to showcase Ryan Garcia's talent and Davis will be the key for that because it will literally hype Garcia's name if he can defeat Tank Davis on the process. But that won't come easy because Davis got some real IQ in his temple especially inside the ring. Pretty sure this will be a nice fight to see, a battle of knockout specialist.

That's one advantage of Tank that I think is very important in this fight. There could be some psychological battle here, not just for boxers but from within inside. They might question themselves if they can go ahead and beat the other guy. And we all know that Ryan has some mental issues before and it causes a riff between him and Canelo and Reynoso and now he no longer trains with Eddie and move to Goosen. So still though, even if Ryan has made a successful comeback, who knows what he is going thru although he is really the one pushing for this one.

Tank isn't showing some weaknesses as of now both physical and mental while Garcia already showed both, and it will be a big challenge for Garcia finding those weakness to increase his chances once they will start dancing inside the ring. Given Garcia's mental issues in the past, I believe that it can be revived and get that feeling back to Garcia once someone finds the switch to toggle it and who knows, Tank might try to find it to tease Garcia even more.

I think that will be Tank focus if they were going to trash talk, mentioning Garcia's health issues in the past that might trigger it again. But I also guess that Ryan and his camp knows this and they should be prepared for this kind of hurls of insults from Tank's camp.

I think every boxer though has weakness, I haven't seen anyone, it's that the great was able to cope up with their weaknesses and use it to their advantage as some point. Definitely if we look at the tale of the tape, Davis is already at a disadvantage in terms of height and reach, and Ryan are going to exploit that and he are used to fighting smaller boxer so he knows what to do if Tank tries to be the aggressive early.

Correct! more on hyping and bringing more interest so they can convert it into good ticket sales and more sponsorships,
we don't know how but fans are excited to see them inside the ring.
They are doing that is right, it's a way to sold more tickets and watch PPV streams, this is business after all, so what can you expect.
Look at Floyd, he talk trash, some said he is not an entertaining boxer, but he still made fortune in boxing.

Tank just gives some glimpse of how winning might be after beating the other Garcia, and it will be a good basis for
Ryan on how to create a good counter.

Depends on who's will stand out while throwing heavy and solid combinations.

Maybe Hector Garcia is not a power puncher, if that was Ryan Garcia hitting Davis open, I don't know, maybe we will see a knock down at least.

They are both throwing accusations at each other, and I'm sure this will continue until they finalized the contract and the deal, both are trash talkers and they are going to hate each other until they face in the ring, we all hope that this will not become another Crawford - Spence scenario where they agree to fight but for some circumstances, the fight won't push through, we are tired of this kind of scenario boxers should go for legacy not for money, not because they are going to lose the zero in their ring record.

They hate each other prior to the fight and it has that been for years. And now that they fight is inching closer, I doubt that this two will simply stop. On the contrary it will be very vicious verbal jabs between the two.

We really don't know who is going to win with this trash talking, but for sure we would like to hear more of that because that is part of selling this fight to casul and hard core fans.

I really like how Ryan Garcia is talking because it will improve his value and people might think he could really beat Davis. I really don't know who will win, both have a strong chin, well for Garcia he went down once but we saw how he stand up and beat his opponent that fight. I'm really excited for this upcoming fight, we should see a very entertaining one because now they are already throwing verbal jabs.

Love hate or hate him, Ryan has this kind of personality an aura, he might be really similar to Oscar back in the days but Ryan is more brandish perhaps because he was born under the social media influence.

And just like what you said, maybe when he open his mouth like this, predicting that he will knockout Davis in 2 rounds, who knows, maybe we will believed that and bet on him specially if he is the underdog.

April 15th, they move the fight closer which is good. Ryan says Tank is prolonging his inactivity while he wanted to fight him without tuneup.  Great to see them finalize the date because we're all sick of them avoiding each other. Whoever falls anyway fans will be cheering again. They are still young and who knows this will go further than a rematch because of fans' demand.

I think that's fair enough, Ryan didn't want to have a tune up so he might think he will be at a disadvantage because of his inactivity. But I doubt that because for sure he could be back in the gym after the holidays.

In case of Tank, then he will have his rest already by this time and could be also in the gym after finalizing the fight date with Ryan. So I guess that date is good for both parties.
