Winding down.

Before and after I created this thread, my prediction was always Tank Davis will win because he is the better boxer and the tougher man. However, when I was looking at King Ryan's record more closely, I think he has made the much needed preparations to give him a better than expected chance to win. King Ry has very much prepared himself to fight a 5'6" left handed boxer by fighting 2 left handed boxers in his last 3 fights. The last opponent is Javier Fortuna, he is short and can knockout anyone, having much similarities to Tank. I would laugh at King Ry's bettors last week, however, we cannot laugh if we have studied his preparation more.
If there's a poll in this thread, I would appreciate it.  Smiley
please OP hear me out.

I created the poll, however, only 3 have voted and one of them is me hehehe. My vote is for Ryan Garcia because of the reasons and the speculations that I have shared already.

In any case, @Baofeng, you are one of the boxing news events expert hehe. Would you speculate that this contract dispute of Tank Davis vs. Floyd Mayweather promotions will threaten if this event will happen or not?

I would speculate though that Davis is no longer with Floyd, we all know that the Romero's fight is his last fight with Floyd. Even Floyd says that nothing last forever, so basing on that, for sure he knows that his time with Davis is done already.

So if Floyd and PBC is out of the picture then definitely they have nothing to do with Tank already and he can pursue any fight he wants including the highly anticipated Ryan Garcia fight.

Floyd Mayweather in fact said those words but I don't really believe that Mayweather accepted it like nothing really happened between them. We know that Davis is one of Floyd's favorite cow in his stable because he can provide Mayweather's needs but, there's a but, Mayweather's connections are not as good as Bob Arum and Al Haymon that can lift up Tank's name higher and that is why Tank left him.

Based on his status now, he can already start promoting himself, his proceeds will go to him 100%, with a great marketing team, I'm sure he can always be profitable, most especially if he will continue winning as that would make him better and better in the eyes of the fans. Lots of boxers already left their promoter when they become popular, so this is not surprising anymore.

I was confirmed that Tank Davis had left the Maywether Promotion.  According to this article that was published last May 24, 2022, GERVONTA 'TANK' DAVIS CONFIRMS MAYWEATHER PROMOTIONS EXIT: 'IT'S TIME'.  And this fight against Ryan Garcia Eddie Hearn offered a $10m to be Davis promoter but the action of Davis of posting the offer online and deleting it strained the relation between them (Davis and Hearn).  So right now it is true that Davis will earn 100% of the proceeds if he start promoting himself.

Yes, Gervonta Davis severed his ties with Mayweather couple weeks before his fight with Rolly Romero announced. I have this theory and I've read an article about this too somehow confirming that Mayweather sent the before undefeated Rolly Romero to defeat Davis because Mayweather can't accept that after all he did for Davis, he will left him now that he's already a star. But that plan bounced back to them because Tank sent back Romero to his stable right after defeating him in mere 6 rounds by a TKO.

Mayweather's actions towards Bob Arum way back 2006 bounced back at him because if you guys remember, Mayweather left Bob Arum after the latter brought him to the top and accused him of underpaying him. After Mayweather left Top Rank, he founded his own promotional company in the same year.

^^ This is definitely a fight that is doable right now and we have seen both of them having a tune up fight.

Now Ryan Garcia is facing against a Filipino in his preparation against his clash with Davis. Barring no upsets, then a May date is possible between this two. Garcia is fighting at 135 lbs so that is also an obvious sign that he wanted to fight Davis at his best weight or at least a weight that Tank is comfortable.

But on the flip side, we might be hearing surprise if Ryan suddenly goes and sign with Eddie Hearn?

That means that oddsmakers think there is 64% chance of Davis winning while giving Garcia a 36% chance.
I will agree with these odds and bet for Tank.

Compared to Garcia, his combos and movement seem way more composed and technical, and being a southpaw doesn't hurt his changes. While Garcia seem to rely on his natural unpolished talent, and just raw aggressive fast style, using surprisingly quick and powerful attacks even as a defence. Even though those look clumsy compared to Tank, he seem to get ton of power under them somehow.

My guess is that Garcia's style of defence won't work agaisnt technically skilled combos by Tank. Garcia's aggressive style is intimidating but very much defeatable and while his height and reach seem to do add to that and give him confidence, it's all appearances and something that can be taken away fast.

What a great way of describing both boxers, you surely have aced the pie mate!

What you said was correct, Ryan Garcia is just relying on his raw predictable skills, he is just using his speed to create an opening to give deadly punches that will surprise his foes but this will be different because Tank Davis is not yet on his dictionary. He haven't yet fought another boxer who got more skillset and talent than him, that is why Ryan got almost no advantage other than his size which certainly means that his chances against Tank Davis is not that pretty.
And that's what make this fight very interesting and intriguing to say the least. Both has the ability and has his own skillset. Although Ryan is taller, but somewhat he doesn't have the movement, he just chase his opponent and Davis might caught him with his upper cut or even a left hook.

Not sure what Goosen's strategy for Ryan because they really need to have a plan as they can't go right directly on that power of Tank just like what Rolly Romero did. He thinks that he can take Take the power, but he was very wrong because once it hit his chin, it was over. And Ryan jaw has been tested already, although he recuperated, at least he has taste the canvass already and it was a left hook that put him down.
Well, unlike you, I do think that Garcia has a lot of chances of winning, Tank Davis undoubtedly has a lot of strength and is a boxer who has a lot of skill, without scoring any, if I were Garcia I would keep a little distance from him because if he hits one of those hooks will leave me on the verge of a knockout, but of course it is the way I have studied his fighting style, Garcia is more versatile, he has a lot of mobility and he will not get close until he is ready to land accurate blows and that They can do considerable damage to him, because Davis has a lot of technique and I have seen that he knows how to manage round times very well.

Well if this is so then could this meeting take place? because it must not be denied that Floyd has many contacts and is well recognized, in addition to his influences being quite good in the world of boxing, anyone who is or who is recommended by Floyd from his organization gets more attention than anyone else, However, I think that each one seeks or makes his own luck, if he saw something that he did not like about that organization, he will have good reasons, indisputable, because only those who are involved are the ones who know everything and how things are handled. things at that level, for me there was some clash regarding money, earnings or something.

Tank Davis alleges that Ryan is into something,

Quote
Gervonta “Tank” Davis tossed a grenade on Twitter on Saturday alleging that Ryan Garcia is “definitely on something” in response to a picture of a clothed Garcia embracing super welterweight Tim Tszyu.

https://www.boxingscene.com/tank-alleges-garcia-definitely-on-something-ryan-says-he-even-take-supplements--170925

Not sure where Davis is coming from, is this the best he can do to hype the fight? hehehe

Or it was like some kind of excuse that when Ryan beat him, he will say that he is all juice?  Grin

Ryan responded that he doesn't even take vitamins.

Well, this seems interesting enough. If I can recall the events correctly, both Ryan and Davis met personally before the tweeted the same tweet simultaneously and that is what? A couple of weeks ago. And here's Davis now throwing allegations that Ryan is under supplements and saying that he wasn't that big before (referring to the picture) when in fact these two have already met a couple of weeks ago.

Don't know what to say, does this mean that Davis's knee is already crumbling? Grin

I'm not sure if this is an excuse or what, but this is just accusation on the side of Tank Davis, we all know what he is trying to say here, Ryan using Peds? he hasn't been caught in any testing though so I will give Ryan the benefit of the doubt. And it's true that boxers do gain weight as normal people and it's hard to really maintain a fighting weight unless you are really a discipline boxer. Whats important is that he can stay in the weight limit and made the weight during the fight. Probably this is a way of Davis trying to get back at Ryan now for what he has been saying in the media about him, (he even called Tank ugly),

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC3PneH25j4

Just a plain old way to accuse someone without backing a good proof and a nonsense allegation by Tank Davis's side just because of that specific photo just to shake Ryan Garcia's image and reputation. I mean, I'm quite discouraged on his way as I didn't expected him to be this shallow, he should've thought about this well because now people and surely Ryan Garcia's camp are laughing at him. What he did really meant something and that he is somehow afraid of Ryan Garcia.

If he will get a good marketing team to negotiate, he can make more money now. He already established his name and he can
sell his fight now, with another good fighter to deal with it will be a money magnet.

As like what you have mentioned, there are boxers now who go that direction and manage to earn more, the profits will
be 100% without any cut.

Money wise, it's always better to start making good money during your prime so you can have a good retirement fund.

If Davis is no longer with Mayweather promotions, then Floyd probably felt what he did to Arum before, when he severed his tie with Top Rank because he wanted to go solo and get all the money.

So he has to respect what Davis wanted by now. And maybe it hurts Floyd because this is a big fight against Ryan Garcia but definitely if the rumours is true then he is out of the picture and probably this is Davis first fight (against Hector Garcia), that Floyd is not with is side.

Yes, without any cut from promotions, and we can say that Floyd or PBC or Ellerbe (Floyd's manager) did a good job in Tank as he become a household name although he hasn't get the a 'true' belt in 135 lbs because obviously, it has been in the hands of Haney now.

Nevertheless, as far as the money goes, he did make a good amount of money during his stay.

But Tank has every right to move out now, I guess.

I think it was yesterday, I already voted for Tank. Tank is short but his hands are quick and are gifted with power. And Tank is not old like Fortuna. Both are cherry-pickers but Tank became a champion at 130 which means he is championship-caliber while Kingry's toughest challenge was against Luke Campbell whom he even struggled with before delivering the KO.

In any case, @Baofeng, you are one of the boxing news events expert hehe. Would you speculate that this contract dispute of Tank Davis vs. Floyd Mayweather promotions will threaten if this event will happen or not?
Not interfering here since I respect both of you. If Tank is a free agent then Mayweather Promotions has nothing to pursue. Mayweather Promotions anyways is more of a dummy nowadays since it is PBC (who doesn't have a promoter's license) the one promoting fights thru Showtime and Fox networks. PBC is using many dummies so there should be no problem with Tank's fight with Hector Garcia.

After this fight one of them is not undefeated anymore, and I believe that Ryan Garcia will give Tank Davis a good fight. He keeps challenging great champions, now it's his time to shine, beating Tank Davis will make his ranking skyrocket and he will definitely earn more big fights ahead.
Actually he didn't even beat any real champions Cheesy

He only won vacant WBC interim title, but he not want to face the real WBC champion boxer e.g. Haney. The other belts he won is from unofficial organization, if we talk about the value, it's worthless since it doesn't need to be number 1 boxer to get those belts.

Garcia biggest fight was against Luke Campbell where he almost lose, Tagoe even though undefeated but doesn't show any fight, while Fortuna is ex champion but now he's already old.

It is really true. Though it is a fact that Tank Davis and Kingry Garcia are very popular even if they are currently not real champions but they keep on fighting has-beens and tomato cans. I am giving Tank Davis the advantage because at least he became a real champion before at 130 when he blasted Jose Pedraza for the IBF belt.

I actually doubt that this fight is a done deal. Most likely that these 2 cherry-pickers are just using this for publicity. If this is a done deal, then Kingry has to wait for Tank to become ready once again and will become inactive.

And what's up with this? Is Tank fighting under PBC without a contract?

As far as I can remember, he had a tweet wherein he says that he will take his talent somewhere else but it was deleted already.

That tweet was just last month though,

I did take this screen grab from this youtube source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60ndIff0obQ

Maybe he hasn't sign an extension with Floyd or PBC because I think he is not satisfied with how he was handled or the money is not good enough for him.

So maybe Eddie Hearn is trying to lure him to move to him with that kind of good money, $10 million guarantee + PPV numbers against Ryan Garcia.

Last time I've checked, Tank Davis is with Floyd Mayweather's promotional banner and that Romero-Davis fight was his last fight under the mentioned stable, and it was rumored that Mayweather put Rolly on purpose to supposedly defeat Tank because he cannot accept that Tank will leave him after all what he did. I guess Tank really wanted to explore his talents elsewhere because he already don't see his future under Mayweather anymore, and it will be a good opportunity for Tank to be flying solo for now and I guess Eddie Hearn is the first one to do the move.
I remember when Tank was supposed to leave Mayweather Promotions but then re-signed later. Tank is probably in a 1 fight deal which means he is now a free agent. I hope Tank won't return to Mayweather Promotions. At 28 years old, Tank should vie for the real titles at 135 and then move up to 140 if he wants his legacy to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Hearn is probably the biggest promoter right now and DAZN has the deepest pocket in boxing but it is obviously Top Rank thru ESPN having the best talent in boxing right now from Naoya Inoue to Shakur Stevenson, Vassiliy Lomachenko, Devin Haney, and Josh Taylor up to Tyson Fury the lineal champ at heavyweight. And all the big names at 135 and 140 are signed with Top Rank except the 2 cherry-pickers Tank and KingRy.

No dream is too big and no dreamer is too small

Garcia vs Davis, will divide the fans, but just like bookies sees this fight, I think Davis has more believers that he would win the fight.

Really hard to see who will win because both have a knockout punch, but as per the bookies, I'm seeing that they will put Tank as favorite. And if this is the case, for Ryan, he should proved them wrong by winning this fight.

Hype on his career and a fulfillment in which all the boxers wanted to have before retiring their gloves, Ryan will bring everything to make
things happen for him, it's his desire to beat Davis.

Now that the opportunity is open, he will do everything in his capabilities to the extent that he will bring more drills and additional trainings
to prepare for this upcoming fight.

Fans for both sides will benefits, they will see extra mile from their idols as both are eager to beat one another.

I think they should have a Warrior mentality, like Manny Pacquiao when he was still active in boxing, he succeeded to be an 8th-division world champion because he always choose to fight the best, and they beat him convincingly. So think that's what these champions should do, they should not cherry-pick an opponent, but instead go for the best and move to another division once they find there's no good challenger.
