Seems everyone is hating on Teofimo Lopez hehehe, I'm not surprised though, arrogant and even if he lost to George Kambosos, he and his father thinks he win that fight.

And I would agree that this is a cherry pick fight made by Top Rank, no question about it, picking a fighter that Lopez might score a win by a knock out, if not show us his talent again. Still one month to go and for sure we gonna see Sr talk about his son and then bad mouth Campa.

Agreed this is most likely just some kind of warm up after a quite long hiatus, and just to make Lopez get his confidence back. I would say that if Lopez is at his best Campa would not be in his level, but after a couple of quite serious surgery and a break, this match could be worth to watch.

Looks like we are underestimating Pedro Campa here.

Did you check though who he has fought? I mean did someone right a bell to you? He might have a lot of fights no doubt, but the resume speaks for itself. We can argue that Lopez beat Loma because he is injured, but still that is a good name in his resume.

As compare to Campa who we haven't heard or even fighting top guys in this division. And probably this is one reason why they choose him as a start up fight for Teo Lopez. In paper he might be very good because of the number of fights he had. But it's all B level fighter.

@Baofeng. If Teofimo Lopez vs. Pedro Campa is the main event, can you also include the other fights in the list for this whole event? Brandon Figueroa vs. Carlos Castro was a fight last week that we did not discuss because we did not know it was part of Vargas vs. Magsayo hehehe.

So It's very obvious that Campa has more experience here and I think Lopez hype is already gone after he lose to Kambasos Jr.

Yeah, the hype is gone, he only became popular when he beats Lomachenko, but after his first loss, I don't know if he can recover again. He had few fights but some of the fights are quality fights, against the best in the division, so let's see if he will succeed in the new division.

The outcome of this fight will tell his future in this division.

He is still young, if he really is a great fighter, he surely have learned a lesson from his past defeat, so he will be smarter in this fight and will not use emotion too much which would only destroy his game plan. IMO, he could have won his previous fight if he was patient, what happened is he underestimated Kambasos, that's why he lose focus as he want to end the fight righ away.

Looks like we already know the winner of this fight.

The odds of this fight could already tell that it's going to be a one-sided fight.
Actually, I'm surprised seeing that Lopez is a heavy favorite this fight.

Quote
Teofimo Lopez vs. Pedro Campa betting odds
Per the FanDuel Sportsbook, via OddsChecker, Lopez is the -1900 favorite against Campa, who is the +1200 underdog.

^^ We will find it out, I mean this division is also laded with a lot of talents so it will be hard for Lopez to dominate this 140 lbs. There is also Catterall who almost beat Josh Taylor in their first fight. And if I'm not mistaken will have a rematch.

So Lopez better be bringing his A-game against Campa so that he can gauge himself if he faces the top 1-5 in this division.

I agree with that, it's the first time Lopez to be in this heavier division, so let's see if he still has the power to beat the best fighters in this division. his last fight with Kambasos was very disappointing, he can't win but Haney just schooled Kambasos in a fight.

What do you expect? He is under Top rank which is good at somewhat making their fighters good specially after a big lost. So I would agree that this is a cherry pick fight for Lopez entering a new territory at 140 lbs. So no more big fights for Haney or Davis at 135 lbs. Although we have seen Davis fight at this division already and winning a belt against a weak champion. Good for Lopez if he can win this fight and then call the other champion and established himself again.

Yes! gladly they haven't matched him with someone who is stronger than him in this division and he can have some warm-up with this upcoming fight before getting a chance to fight a champion. If he gives an outstanding victory with this one, I'm sure they quickly give him a chance to fight a champion because no one really wants to delay him when he is getting pumped up in this category. He can actually quickly adapt to this weight and bring both his power and speed to this weight class which will become one of the biggest challenges for his upcoming opponent.

But he is fighting just a B-level here, so not sure if this is good for his resume. So far the champion here is Josh Taylor but it seems he vacated the WBC and WBA belt.

Taylor doesn't want to defend his belt his WBA belt against Puello, so there might be a fight for the vacant belt, Puello vs the number 2 seed boxer.

Same with the WBC belt,  Zepeda vs Ramirez so this is going to be an interesting fight, as this is a rematch. So not sure if Lopez can stand with those names in this division.

Campa has fought 36 fights in his career and has never fought outside of Mexico, so you need to understand that this fight is organized to prepare Lopez. The start of the fight can be calm, the fighters will study each other, by the middle of the fight, Lopez will get into his rhythm and feel comfortable against Campa. I see Lopez winning by knockout here.

To be precise, Pedro Campa mostly had his fights inside Mexico but this is not his first time traveling outside his own country to have some fight because he also had a fight last 2015 against Aaron Herrera at Glendale, California where he won by a decision. That said, this is not his first time traveling to America after all.
Campa here is also a decent boxer as he's still at his prime and definitely has more experience in the ring than Lopez. The latter is also good but he still need to be cautious against Campa even if his KO rate is much higher.

And that's why we haven't heard about him, because his fight in mostly in Mexico. And we all know that they usually padded their records in they only fight in their home territory. Imagine Canelo, not going in the US and we see his record like 50-0 and then he goes out and went stateside. Good thing is that Golden Boy put him even though he is very much inexperience that time against Floyd and the rest is history. However, I doubt that Campa can do the same, as others have been saying, this is a fight that is custom for Lopez. To look like he is a puncher at this division.

No other way but to go up, I hope he can still bring the power and he can bounce back from a bad lose against Kambasos. I've seen enough of Teofimo Lopez, IMO, he is not a discipline boxer so I'd go with Pedro Campa to win here.

The arrogant father and son duo also dismissed a Loma rematch before the Kambosos fight. They're not man enough. They forgot that Lomachenko donated personal money of around $800,000 to them as additional payment because they demanded more money, something promoter Bob Arum cannot satisfy due to the pandemic. And Teofimo barely beat an injured version of Lomachenko who undergo surgery right after the fight.

Yeah, I remember that. Loma did that so the fight will happen as planned even to the extent of lowering his purse on that fight. I think that they have seen something that if they give Loma the rematch they would lose but karma still hits them as Lopez lost to his mandatory opponent in Kambosos.

I hope this unknown Pedro Campa upsets Teofimo Lopez.

I also do hope that this would happen too but i think Top Rank is now calculating every move they made on Lopez's career so as to not repeat the same fate against Kambosos because we may not like his personality but Lopez is a draw in boxing because he is a knockout artist.

Does anyone know what cause Lopez to move to other weight division? Last Canelo fight showed, that being so self confident and moving to other division ends bad. Why not try to regain belts back? What was all that shouts "I am the best", after winning Lomachenko, for ? Why not make make a second fight against Lomachenko, I am sure Loma will instantly accept it. Or a rematch with Kambosos ?

It cannot be compared, I reckon. I am not very certain how good Pedro Campa is in the ring, however, on Canelo's move to a higher weight division, his team has underestimated Bivol. Bivol was discovered to be one of the kings of light heavyweight where he has been holding a WBA title since 2017. Lopez's father might have chosen an opponent that he knows his son can knockout hehehe.

That is why I wish Lopez to be KOed, as he is to much arrogant (yes, I am evil). Such easy fights never end good. You underestimate your opponent, and then get in troubles and end with decision after a good beating. On one hand Lopez tactics is understandable - they need to gain confidence before next big fight. On the other - if you are a real champion, you do not look for easy ways.

Most probably. I don't see Campa among the top fighters in the division but this is a comeback after a loss, they are still building back his confidence to fight top contenders after with Campa.

They'd have to make this comeback impressive so fighting a fading boxer will be great for him. Its however very shameful if for instance he lose.

Yes, Campa obviously has the experience, but I don't think he can deal with the power of Lopez even if he moves up to this division.

And there's no sense in him having a rematch with Kambosos since he lost to Haney. And for sure Haney might not give him that opportunity since he just beat the man who beat him. So the next best move is to go up in weight try to fight an easy fighter and win.

LOL! Nice choice of an opponent for Teofimo Lopez. With all his loud mouth he ends up fighting against an unknown hermit from Mexico. Well, this is probably needed after his sensational loss to Kambosos. He must had a hard time accepting and recovering from it. So he definitely needs to have a tune-up fight. This is going to be his first fight after that terrifying loss in November last year, after all. We'll see whether Teofimo is really making a come back in this fight.
