One cannot forget Flamengo, who came back to bet strongly and have a very good coach.
I think this year the fight in the Brasileirão will be a lot of fun, between at least these two clubs: Flamengo and Palmeiras.
Oh, it's true!
Flamengo is a competitive team and I believe that this year it will continue... last season he finished in 2nd place in the Brazilian championship. I believe in this season will be not different and I believe, Flamengo and Palmeiras can be the winners... let's see what this season can reserve for us

Well... although I'm not a Palmeiras fan... but I have no doubt that this team is in a great phase, the team is consistent and has a lot of confidence in its performance this season...

Let's see how Palmeiras will behave during this season

Tomorrow there will be a big game Palmeiras vs Santos.
Who do you think will win? I think Palmeiras is in a better position to win.

Palmeiras is favorite for sure, it's hard to beat, I watch the match Palmeiras 1 vs 0 Sao Paulo, and I can say Palmeiras, Flamengo and Atletico Mineiro are the strongest teams of Brazil right now

The only "bad" side is probably the way soccer is evolving where all the teams and countries will probably play in a same way, same formation and same strategy, in a few years back, for example in a World Cup, we see every country playing different, it was awesome to see how europeans play soccer, how that team on Africa plays, always a mistey and always a show, but nowadays soccer are almost equal in most places.

Unfortunately this is a fact that has been seen, in general. But that same fact has also led to smaller teams starting to fight bigger teams.

It is true that elite clubs have a very similar style of play and sometimes it seems that the excitement and the spectacle are lost. But then, when big clubs play with little ones, we start to see the little ones playing in a way that makes things more balanced.

Let's just say it's the natural evolution of football, with everyone wanting to win it - even if it's more money.

I see with good eyes. It's good to see that Portuguese coaches are successful in several championships around the world. We already had several coaches spread across clubs in Europe and Asia. And now they are arriving in Brazil.

This departure of coaches to Brazil has made us start to be more attentive to the Brazilian championship, causing some Brasileirão games to be shown on television. On top of free channels. And it's always nice to see good football for free.  Wink

I have mixed feelings about coaches from another countries
It's good in general because we can learn from portugueses, europeans, argentinians etc.
We can learn new techniques and new strategies.
Another strong point to learn is the behavior inside and outside the field, we see a lot of brazilian players involved in scandals or some anti-professional behavior.
The marketing around a foreigner is also good for the team to have more attention of media.

Honestly, Santos is able to repeat the "script" of last year in which he started a season below expectations, fluctuates during matches and even changes coach early on, or you say me not?

In the Paulistão, for example, there is a drama of relegation and go to the knockout stage.
The new coach welcomed the new players, they hired five, but itśs necessary  qualify the team, especially in the defensive midfielder position.

Santos is a strong team no matter what, the tradition is something to consider, but I think even with the new coach will be very hard to classify to the next round because of the matches
The next match vs Palmeiras is probably a game of "6 points"  Smiley If Santos win, it's almost there to qualify, but if Santos lose, will be extremely hard to classify, let's see

The new coach was a player in that area of the field. He will certainly be able to understand the flaws that the team has in that area and in turn try to find the best solution for it.

But Santos has one less game, and if they win, they'll be second. Being in second already has the possibility of moving forward in the competition. They should still manage to reach second place.

This competition model always has surprises. Look what happened in qualifying for the World Cup in Europe, with Portugal and Italy having to play in the play-offs.

Santos have to play 3 more matches

Santos vs Palmeiras - probably Palmeiras win
Santos vs Ferroviária - probably Santos win
Santos vs Água Santa - probably Santos win

@joker_josue my team of heart is Corinthians and now we also have a Portuguese coach Vítor Pereira, how do you see this wave of coachs from Portugal? You portuguese people have any conversations about this?

I think this is going to bring back some popularity. And under the Portuguese courses, they will certainly do better. You know it had almost died, Probably now as the games are being shown by several TV channels, I think more and more media will also be interested in it. And that will certainly be proved to be great for the game.

And the direct adversary is Santo André, with easier matches to win, so it's not easy to Santos
Curiosity, Santos have a new coach Fabián Bustos, argentinian, he helped Santos yesterday to gain the match and pass to the next round of Copa do Brasil

As you can see, the main teams (the most popular and considered the strongest ones) from the championship are never on the same group. That is Corinthians on Group A, São Paulo on group B, Palmeiras on group C and Santos on group D. I'm not sure if it was organized this way on purpose, but I believe it's likely...

You are right, it's all planned.

The 4 strongest teams are divided in the groups, I don't know if the translation is correct, but they are "seeds", in Brazil we call "cabeça de chave" and it's the same as World Cup, the strongest teams are separeted to not join in the same group and only 1 get to the next rounds.
It's interest to all strongest teams to pass to next rounds, more people will watch and more money to everyone.

But there's something that always happen, for example, look at D group:

Santos is supposed to be at first place, but Bragantino and Santo Andre are in the first two positions
Bragantino is controlled and managed by Red Bull, so the team is gaining attention and they can play at the same level with almost any team in Brazil, only excludind Palmeiras and Flamengo at the moment

Thank you for the explanation.

I think the competition is a little complicated, at least for what I'm inhabited here in Europe. And I thought the US league system was complicated.  Roll Eyes

But I got the idea. Thanks.

Yesterday, Palmeiras beat another national team, Guarani, by 2 x 0 on its state championship.

I was checking and this game is part of the Campeonato Paulista.
I noticed that the championship is divided into 4 groups, but the teams have already played 10 games. Do the clubs in the group play against each other several times, or do they all play against everyone else, despite being in different groups?  Huh
They play one game against each team of another groups (12 matches total for each team). The best 2 teams of each group go to the quarter finals.

Then, the two classified teams of a same group play against each other on the quarter finals. That means: first position club on group A play versus second position club of group A, first position team of group B goes against second position team of group B and so on...

From the semifinals on, the team with the best score takes the one with the worse, and the second takes the third, considering the points scored on every previous phases of the championship by each team.

And finally, the finals are decided in two games, played once at home of each team classified for this phase.

In the last edition, Corinthians was the champion team, and Palmeiras was the second, who will win the title this year?
Palmeiras is playing very well (although this competition hasn't started yet), has a solid team and a skilled support body behind the players.

Yesterday, Palmeiras beat another national team, Guarani, by 2 x 0 on its state championship.

In my opinion they are one probable winner for this year's title. It's hard to see brazilian teams showing consistent performance along the time, but surprisingly Palmeiras is being able to do this.

Has women's football been on the rise? Are there already international women's competitions?

Here in Europe, it has had a big boost in the last 4-5 years. With more and more clubs having women's teams, and starting to get more attention and sponsorship.

Yes, women's football in Brazil is experiencing very expressive growth, both technically and financially, and it is receiving sponsorship from large companies.
And this was only possible because in 2019 the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) determined that all teams that compete in the main series of the Men's Brasileirão should also have women's teams in the adult and youth training categories.

I don't see any problem if Brazil's format is too different from Europe's. It's still better to create a unique format although we couldn't set aside the comparison most of the time. European players are outstanding but Brazilian players are also dedicated and promising and lots of people are actually looking forward to more series from them.

I even agree with you a little bit.
The "scoring points" system in the Brazilian championship allows good teams not to be eliminated just because they did poorly in a single game.
However, he takes away the brilliance at the end of the championship, because most of the times it is already known who will be the champion with up to 10 games left for the end of the championship.

The Brazilian championship format has different characteristics from the common formats in Europe. It doesn't mean that the ones in Europe are better. But we know that Europe is where the money in football is.

If Brazil, and not only, wants to promote its football more in the old continent, it has to make some changes to the format of its competitions, to become more appealing to the fans of Europe. On the contrary, it will only attract when a European coach is in Brazil, or because of an excellent player who stands out, before arriving at a European club.

Is the problem really the rules and format of the competitions?

I would say it's primarily for the money... there's no way to compare the salary of a player on a European team with a Brazilian one, that's undeniable.
And the second criterion is visibility... with rare exceptions, most likely a European player who comes to Brazil will be able to stand out to the world, no matter how good he plays.

I don't see any problem if Brazil's format is too different from Europe's. It's still better to create a unique format although we couldn't set aside the comparison most of the time. I think it's convenient in this topic to also talk about the Brazilian women's championship, which started last Friday, March 4th.

This championship gained a lot of attention in the media this year, which is good to reduce preconception in this sport.
In the last edition, Corinthians was the champion team, and Palmeiras was the second, who will win the title this year?

This evaluation will be more difficult, for those who are outside Brazil. Based on your analysis, what would you say?
