Success! Thank you Spidersbox! OK, now I will consider mining this coin. How much hashpower do you have on the network? I have never solomined before. How did you figure it out for Bitbar? Can this coin be mined with asics?

Any chance you know how to make a bootstrap.dat file? ..or could upload your updated appdata folder ( less your wallet.dat ofcourse, haha) to github or the like? I think having either of those 2 things available would solve sync issues at least for awhile.

I pulled my wallet.dat file  and zipped the Bitbar directory.
you can find the file at http://Bitbar.co

I tried it on my laptop and it works.

The weird thing to me is that my bitbar chain data base is unlike bitcoin and litecoin. There are only three files: blk0001.dat, blkindex.dat and the file log.000000026 is the database folder.

To make a bootstap.dat file (at least for the above mentioned coins) you cram all the blk files together and rename it.

Don't know how to do it for bitbar.

Is a fork necessary ?? I thought we could just get a wallet update.
 - oh wait, you mean fork the github repository, not the chain .. right ?

Yes, the repository on github is on mullicks name since he added checkpoint after accidental fork earlier this year.

Oh good.
I always get a funny feeling in my chest every time I see the word fork in these bitcointalk.org threads   Shocked

this might sound a little strange, but shut down the 4.3 wallet and start the older one and see if that gets it moving. I vaguely remember having to jump back and forth to get things moving (might have been a different coin though).

All though,it might just be the peers that are connecting.
If you go to the wallet console (help/debug/console) and type getpeerinfo, it will list the computers you are connected to.
You may notice that several of them are connecting on different ports.
If you know how to setup rules in your firewall you might be able to block them, otherwise you just kinda have to wait it out.

That's about all I know, I'm still a newbie at this.

I solo mine my own pool. it was a way to start learning linux.
I'm mining terracoin, diamond and bitbar at the moment.

Thank you! Hopefully this thing will sync. I am confused though... "v0.4.2.0-g32a928e-beta" is what shows up in the "4.3" version if you click on "debug window" and look in the information tab.

yes- my 4.3 says the same, and my 4.2 reports v0.4.1.0-g32a928e-beta
go figure.
All I know is it sync's, it receives bitbars from my pool and when I send to Cryptsy - they get it, so life is good....

I'm glad yours is working! lol

 mine is stuck at current number of blocks: 109630 with estimated total blocks: 132109.
It's also showing only 2 connections right now. I added your node list to the others I pulled off the thread above to my conf, deleted the peers.dat and ran it. Then deleted everything but the wallet.dat,ran it again and still only syncs to this point. I'm stumped.. I have even just shut it down and restarted it a few minutes later just to see what happens a few times now.

What pool do you mine at?

just a side note:
the block chain tends to pause from time to time.
I like to check the explorer at http://btb.cryptocoinexplorer.com/ to see if my block count matches. One of the nice things about that block explorer is it shows how 'old' the block is.

I only bring it up because the present block is 82 minutes old.  Tongue

I'm all for furthering development.

A dedicated home page would be a nice first Re-start.

I personally like the bitbar.co website, seems straight to the point.

I've reached out to a developer to get a client upgrade, I feel like if Bitbar had  new developer involved, wee could hard code a new checkpoint from that time and fork the code to that developers name... just a thought as mullick said he will not maintain the chain after forking from ALq earlier this year.

I agree an 'official' website is needed. I'm tired of searching the web for 'bitbar' - only to find broken links, 'server not found' and 'this web site for sale'.

So, 1 vote for the name bitbar.co

It's a start  Smiley

It's a shame mullick won't do it since he's been through the code already.
Hopefully your developer will be willing.

humm, I guess I had better start buying back all those bitbars I've sold before people find out there's a new dev in town...

I'm using 4.2 on linux and 4.3 on windows

sometimes it helps to close the wallet down, delete the peers.dat file and start the wallet again.

this is what I have in my bitbar.conf file:

keypool=200
noirc=1
maxconnections=10
addnode=108.62.10.90
addnode=199.68.198.33
addnode=104.209.105.60
addnode=76.11.216.201

you can skip the keypool and the max connections.

sometimes you have to wipe out everything (EXCEPT YOUR WALLET.DAT!!) and start over, downloading the chain from the beginning.

I've even transferred all my bitbars from my desktop - to a wallet on my laptop, removed all the bitbar directories, and started from scratch.

good luck   Undecided

I'm interested. I'm also interested in getting the blockchain to DL to my wallet..lol

It got stuck so I deleted it and now its stuck on block 13086 and getting the "checkpoint too old...blabla" message. I'm running the 4.0 version. I found later versions(4.1, 4.2?) but even after I find all the .dlls it needs to run( they were not included), it still F**ks up and won't start.

I would mine BTB if I could find a pool...well, and my wallet synced...

Yes, I found those nodes above and added them to my .conf and still a no go..

I'm all for a take over, but nobody seems to be willing to step up.

so let's see if we can get the ball rolling .....

I just bought the domains:
bit-bar.com
bitbar.co
bitbar.rocks

the grand total is $36.33

I have my own web server so all I had to do was change some dns settings and add the web sites to the server. no biggy....
Please note that there is nothing at those web sites right now.

lets have a vote on which site/name should be the 'official' home site for bitbar. I'll keep the others and redirect.

I would like to have a message board on the site, but it's been 8 years since I've messed with them and don't know which would be best. hopefully someone can recommend a board.
Keep in mind that I can do HTML, java-script, and Perl - let's keep the learning curve down.

I've just started with programming on Linux, so it will take me a while to figure it out [why can't you do for(int t=0;t
This is just to show that is an interest in bitbar, and that there are people willing to take an active roll in developing this coin/bar.

What's your input ??

not me. I haven't done any linux programming yet - and the wallet code (all linux code for that matter), has me scratching my head.
It's really too bad, timing wise, because I really like programming, and I really like bitbar.
