I recently made some money through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing, and I'm considering using it to purchase some Bitcoin. Only a tiny sum, roughly $800, is involved. What do you suggest doing right now? Purchase some Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency with a promising future.

What replacement coins would you recommend?
If you buy Bitcoin of course it's a good choice. But the amount you can get is very small. However, if you use it for short-term trading, there is a possibility that you can benefit, thus increasing your investment capital. Yet another coin is BNB. You can earn more than 2 BNB, or half the amount of Ethereum.
Investing certainly has the goal of profit, from that profit there is a choice of a lot of profit or a smaller but safe profit. therefore many people combine it through diversification. that way their investment remains safe and in the hope of providing greater profits. it's different with trading, where we can make as much profit as our portfolio fits, but the risk is also bigger, especially for short-term trading

The only altcoin I want more than BTC is ETH so I would go with ETH. The risk with it is still smaller than other altcoins, but the profits are usually higher than BTC.

If you have a smaller stack than the answer should always be bitcoin.  I'm not saying to stay clear of altcoins but you want to build up a good portfolio of bitcoin before you start venturing off.  A small percentage of your overall portfolio can be aimed at alts but don't be silly like a lot of people and put all your money into alts.  Once you get enough bitcoin I'd start looking at polygon/matic.  Lots of good things going on with that platform.
well, buying bitcoin bit by bit, for now, is enough. The OP started buying bitcoins at $800, and it would be better to buy little by little until you reach a certain value, then build another portfolio with altcoins. it would be a purposeful investment. However, we don't know what the OP thinks, maybe $800 is enough value for him in a bitcoin investment and wants to choose an altcoin. however, I would also recommend opting for bitcoin for now until it's worth enough, and continuing with popular altcoins.

While investing in altcoins, there are many things to consider including the type of project you are investing in.What is its position in the market?  What will be the future use of this project?  Also, what is the roadmap for this token? How tokens are distributed۔What is the total market cap and circulating supply?Because while such coins can give you great returns, there are also risks that they can sink your capital.
Those factors that you've mentioned are mostly ignored by those investors that look at the usual things that are needed to be listed down.

They go down quickly to those altcoins that they want to buy because of what they've seen from other investors that had made such a great gain with those.

Bitcoin is a token that you can fully trust and invest your capital without fear.
Bitcoin isn't a token.

Bitcoin is still number one, but if you want to invest with minimal capital or assets, it's better to go to ALT coin.
because you can get a large number of coins and the profit when the alt coin rises will also be felt

There is no doubt that investing in Bitcoin is a safe investment and the least risky coin.  But the most profitable ones here are the altcoins. Bit coin can make your capital 2x or 3x. While good and strong coin can make your capital 50x and even 100x. But these Coins have a higher risk of loss than Bitcoin.
There are still good and strong projects in the market like polkadot, polygon matic, sand, mana Whose future looks very bright and can give you very good returns in the bull market

I think now is the right time to start investing in cryptocurrancy, because the crypto market is recovering, apart from that a very good coin to invest in is BTC, because the coin has a fantastic value and the amount is limited in the market, the case is different with altcoins which have a very abundant circulation in the crypto market, but if we have limited funds of course the alt is also very good to support our economy,

So, now is the perfect time to invest, regardless of the amount. But you have to wait, wait for prices to return to at least half of last year around this time. I'm sure it will go up again.

if you are not really interested in watching the market moment to moment every day then i recommend ETH and bitcoins to buy and you can just sit in your wallet for a few years and maybe your 800$ becomes thousands or tens of thousands of dollars in a few years.

Depends on how you look at it,

Are you for the long haul? meaning you are willing to buy that amount and not touch it till the next bull run around 2024-2025?

Or if you are short term investors then better look for altcoin in my opinion. Not sure how you can look at promising altcoins though because they are very hard to spot in the beginning unless you got lucky.

There is no replacement of Bitcoin in the long run and if you are looking for short term gain then you are endangering your investment into great risk.

I would recommend Bitcoin and if you have some spare cash for Alts then only go for solid Alts not the one that are available on cheap rates. There are many Alts that came and are now story of past as none has the capability to withstand crypto market like Bitcoin. Thats why bitcoin must be your first choice of investment.

Bitcoin is a fiduciary coin. People invest more wealth with honest courage to get profit from investing in Bitcoin.  But it is never possible to make such investment in alt coin section because there is a possibility of losing the platform. But there is no reason for the platform to be destroyed in Bitcoin which is why I will definitely invest in Bitcoin if I invest.
agree that investing in bitcoin is very reliable and can provide the best impact and will be profitable. but I also firmly believe that altcoins are just as good as bitcoin. so bitcoin and altcoins are just as good, but we really have to sort out which altcoin we will choose to invest in. It should be remembered that many highly defined altcoins also provide tempting returns. ethereum, BNB, ADA, DOT, SOL are some of the altcoins that are very reliable and very profitable just like bitcoin, and there are others if you want to analyze them properly.

if you want really buy in altcoin you should do research first, because altcoin is like trending and will not survive for longterm if only depend on fomo.
but with that fomo altcoin is easily make 2-100x, depend on that project and the team to manage it.

This question will come back to you, what exactly do you need? for example, if you want to invest long-term, without doing a lot of research, then bitcoin is a very good choice for that. however, if you want something that has a bigger risk than that, then you can choose an altcoin. actually popular altcoins have risks that are not so different from bitcoin, but if you want a new investment, then the right choice for you is a new altcoin. for $800 you should be able to get a satisfactory amount. it's just that choosing a new altcoin will take a bit of work as you'll need to do extra research in order to find the right altcoin for you.
however, if you don't want to worry too much about research, then bitcoin is a very good choice. personally, for $800, I'd probably go for bitcoin or Ethereum.

indeed until now there are still many who prefer holding bitcoin because it is very convincing and there is no doubt when compared to holding altcoins which can always rotate situations and circumstances that cannot be known in the future. but I agree that it is indeed to hold both, even though you need to do a good analysis if it is placed on altcoins not ethereum and BNB.
Bitcoin and Altcoins (only the best ranking) are just as good, the difference is clear, of course, the price, bitcoin requires a lot of funds compared to altcoins.
Bitcoin is the main asset, people must hold Bitcoin. While altcoins are additional assets, people hold them to expect other profits. Both Bitcoin and altcoins deserve to hold, so people shouldn't choose to hold Bitcoin only. We must understand that top altcoins are also promising to hold because they can increase their prices significantly. They are also quite safe to hold long-term since most of them are old coins and have been proven to stay at the top coins in CMC for years. We just avoid holding new altcoins or shit coins that may turn out to be dead coins.
Agree friends, it is good to avoid new altcoin which seems to be always promoted to get a very large profit, but instead can enter the trap that later the coin cannot grow and die. Nowadays it's not strange, a lot of growing a lot of new altcoin is a scam, so it must be avoided and do not speculate. As long as the situation is not yet profitable, so if it is fixed and want to hold Altcoin, only at the best rankings that have been continuing to survive at CMC, because they have been proven and always profitable for their holders.

$800 is a pretty good amount to use as an investment, I noticed that there are several altcoins (alternative choices besides bitcoin) that can be used as long-term investments, such as Binance Coin, Ada, Polygon and Avalanche. maybe you can do a little research before deciding which altcoin you want to choose for investment.
